CEO, Your Wife Has Left-Chapter 55: A Willing Beauty, an Unwilling Gentleman
Inside the estate, Kenneth Yates stood by the window, gazing down at the property. It was a typical European-style building, rigged with numerous security cameras and multiple alarm systems. ’Does Noel Lynch really need all this, living here all by himself?’
Kenneth picked up an ashtray from the room and hurled it toward the empty ground below. BZZZT BZZZT BZZZT... A piercing alarm blared to life. Kenneth shut the window, sat down on the sofa, and glanced at his watch.
"Five, four, three, two, one."
BANG!
The door to the room flew open, and Noel Lynch stormed in, radiating hostility. "What the hell do you think you’re doing?"
"I should be asking you that. Why are you holding me captive?" Kenneth elegantly lowered his hands.
"To make you wish you were dead!" Noel Lynch’s eyes were bloodshot.
Kenneth ignored his threat. "You should know why I came with you."
"Oh? I have no idea. We’re not close," he said, his explosive anger vanishing as his expression shifted back to one of sinister gentleness.
"You know something about Thea." Kenneth stood up, his speech quickening noticeably.
"Hah. And how can you face that Summer Lancaster woman acting like this? You do nothing but cause trouble for everyone around you, then you walk away with that detached air, as if none of it concerns you." He paused. "I wonder, between the two of them, who will you choose?"
For a long time, Kenneth didn’t answer. He asked himself the question but found no answer within.
"What’s the matter? The fair lady is interested, but the gentleman isn’t? I wonder which of them is so unfortunate," Noel said with a smile, slowly approaching Kenneth. "When it comes down to it, you’re just a heartless bastard."
"Where is Thea?" Kenneth’s expression was calm, showing no trace of his earlier agitation. ’I need to hide my emotions in front of an enemy. I was too worked up just now.’
"You’ll see her when you’re meant to. Perhaps she still hasn’t forgiven you."
’Does Thea hate me?’
"I’m asking you where you saw Thea, and what she told you." Kenneth was clearly growing impatient with the vague replies.
"Why don’t we do this? You trade Summer Lancaster for her. How does that sound?" Noel smiled, moving closer until his shoulder pressed against Kenneth’s.
Kenneth understood. Noel had no intention of telling him anything. He was just using Thea as bait to lure him in. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Seeing Kenneth’s prolonged silence, Noel left the room, taking it as consent. He was going to make that man, Kenneth, feel the pain of losing someone he loved. On one side was Thea Shaw, and on the other, Summer Lancaster. Heh. No matter who he chose, he would be betraying the other.
Inside the room, Kenneth thought for a long time before finally taking off his watch and activating a device on its back. This was going to be a sleepless night.
Meanwhile, Dominic Thorne and the others were still awake. Ronan Jenkins hadn’t woken up yet, and everyone was worried, especially Sean Murphy.
"Why isn’t Ronan awake yet?" Sean Murphy asked Felix Locke, running up to him anxiously.
"Normally, he should be awake by now. It’s possible that, subconsciously, he doesn’t want to wake up."
"Doesn’t want to wake up? What do you mean? Is he going to be like this forever?" Sean Murphy panicked at Felix Locke’s answer, and his tone turned harsh.
"Whether or not he wakes up is all on you." Felix Locke stood up and gently patted Sean Murphy’s shoulder as he walked past.
Sean Murphy froze. He crouched down, burying his face in his hands. ’Am I just a complete bastard?’ he thought. ’I couldn’t give Ronan what he wanted, and I’m the one who hurt him this badly. He probably doesn’t want to wake up... because he doesn’t want to face me.’
