Celestial Speed: Legacy-Chapter 71: Forbidden is forbidden
The next morning, Henry woke up early and dressed up, quickly heading towards the dining where Felicity was already waiting for him
"Not bad, you’re only two minutes late," she said with a smile
Henry sighed, already expecting her teasing. "Can we just get going?" he said impatiently, eager to return to the speed lab.
"Well someone’s in a hurry to train," Felicity chuckled
Henry stared at her with a stupefied look, he wished he could spank her head, because she was obviously teasing him again. The previous day when Felicity told Henry that his training had begun right away, he thought that he would get to experience the speed simulator or even the velocity circuit but it was way far from it. Felicity placed him on a normal treadmill.
"You know it’s not fair right?" he asked, still staring at her with a spanking intent.
Felicity smiled. "I know you’re upset but don’t worry, you’ll get to use everything in the lab, i promise," she assured with soothing tone.
"So can i use the circuit now, today?" Henry asked , though already knowing the answer
Felicity sighed. "Not yet, look, all those machines are actually dangerous, more than you could know. It’s best to start with the basics first, baby steps," she explained
But Henry turned a deaf ear. "No, I’ve been doing the basics for one month straight, no more!" he pouted
Felicity sighed deeply. "Fine, but you are starting with the hyper mill," she stated
Henry nodded with a smile. "Okay,"
"Wow! So this is the power of being the youngest child," he exclaimed inwardly with an invisible smirk
"Alright, let’s go," Felicity said and prepared to snap her fingers, but before she could teleport them, Henry stopped her.
"Actually, i think i’d prefer if we ran there instead," he suggested
Felicity paused for a few seconds before speaking. "Hmm, alright then, try and keep up," she said before her entire figure disappeared in an instant, making Henry wonder if she was as fast as teleportion, or maybe even faster.
But he had no way of knowing her true speed as she was too powerful and he was too weak. He sighed and also bolted out of the room, running out of the building with great speed but making sure not to reach his full limit so as not to get caught on fire.
This was the only solution he had devised to not wearing the Nitro suit every single he needed to run. By not running at full speed.
So Henry ran across the city at moderate speed, making sure to keep it slow and steady rather than fast and flammable. After several minutes, he arrived at the speed lab where Felicity was waiting by a blue futuristic treadmill, one quite different from a normal type.
"Well go on, there’s no time to waste," she stated, not giving Henry a chance to breathe
Henry sighed but was cheered up by the system notification that appeared in his face
[Daily quest complete]
[You speed rate has increased by 30km/hr]
[Speed Rate: 1470]
Henry smiled in satisfaction and stepped onto the treadmill, he had missed the daily quest yesterday and that cost him 30 kilometers worth of extra speed. It was why he suggested to Felicity earlier that he’d prefer running to the lab, that way he won’t miss it anymore.
"Hey! Quit messing around, the academy exam is just a month away, you can look at your system notifications later," Felicity voiced out, snapping Henry out of his thoughts.
He nodded with an apologetic smile, but sighed to himself. "I knew it, she’s definitely worse than Xavier. Sigh* I’m so screwed," he thought, before turning the machine on. It hummed to life as it’s belt began to move under Henry’s feet, slowly increasing in speed.
As Henry began his training on the hyper mill, he felt a rush of excitement mixed with a hint of nervousness. His legs moved in a blur of motion, his feet pounding the treadmill belt with a rhythmic intensity. His stride was long and fluid, his knees bending slightly to absorb the impact of each step. And in a span of seconds, he was running at full speed.
His legs pumped furiously, the muscles in his thighs and calves rippling beneath his skin as he drove himself forward. His feet struck the belt with a midfoot strike, his toes curling upward slightly as he pushed off the ground.
As he ran, his arms swung in a smooth, economical motion, his hands relaxed and his elbows slightly bent. His hands moved in a gentle, cupping motion, as if he were pulling the air toward him with each stride.
Despite the high speed at which he was running, Henry’s movements were surprisingly smooth and controlled. His body seemed to be in perfect sync with the treadmill, his legs and arms working together in a seamless rhythm.
Felicity stood beside him, monitoring his progress and offering words of encouragement. "Remember, Henry, the key to mastering the hyper mill is to maintain a consistent pace. Don’t try to push yourself too hard, or you’ll risk burning out. Let’s see how long you can last,"
Henry nodded, taking her advice to heart. He focused on his breathing, trying to find a rhythm that would allow him to sustain his speed. But he knew within himself that he couldn’t get tired, after all unlike normal speedsters and people even, running didn’t consume his stamina.
But despite knowing that, Henry persevered, drawing on his determination and grit. He could feel his body become lighter, his muscles adapting to the demands of the hyper mill.
Felicity watched him with a keen eye, impressed by his progress. "You’re doing great, Henry! Keep it up, it seems I won’t have to worry about your stamina qfterall."
Henry grinned, feeling a surge of confidence. He was determined to pass the exam and become a top speedster, just like Felicity. But more importantly, this was hell of fun.
After running for two hours straight, Henry stepped off the treadmill, feeling exhilarated. He had given it his all, and he knew that he had made significant progress.
Felicity patted him on the back, a smile on her face. "You’re a natural, Henry. I have no doubt that you’ll become faster than me in no time."
Henry had a smug smile on his face, but he thought otherwise. "Faster than you? Yeah, maybe in like, 200 years," he sighed inwardly, but he knew Felicity was only encouraging him.
"Alright get some rest, you’ll be testing out the simulator soon," she added with a smile to which Henry beamed with joy. It’s all he ever wanted.
"Now don’t get too excited, there are rules to be followed. And i’ll be the one operating it for you," Felicity stated, before grabbing an energy drink from the refrigerator, then sat beside Henry.
"Sure thing, mum," Henry replied. He didn’t mind even if she had him put on safety gears, all he cared about was using the simulator. He knew Felicity was only looking out for him like a true mother, as she herself wasn’t the type that followed rules. She even had a globally renowned mantra, one that said "Forbidden is forbidden for me!"
They remained in the room’s lobby for a while, chatting and bonding together like mother and son. Then Felicity lead Henry to the speed simulator to begin his second training for the day.
