Celestial Human Diagram-Chapter 40 - 32: Spirit-Shocking Limit Break
Fang Mingming took a deep breath, forcing himself to say his name in a steady voice. "Fang Mingming."
The moment the two of them stood together, the exam began. He decided to strike first, fearing he wouldn’t get another chance. With a grunt, he threw a punch at his opponent’s stomach, following up with a dozen more in quick succession. But every blow felt like hitting a solid rubber ball. His opponent showed no reaction whatsoever.
Just then, he looked up and saw Zhongwu looking down at him. "Oh? You’ve started?" Zhongwu said, reaching out to grab him. Fang Mingming hastily dodged, but the hands were simply too big. They looked slow, but they were deceptively fast, swooping in from the side to clamp down on his arm.
"I—I give up..." Fang Mingming realized something was wrong and immediately shouted. But Zhongwu acted as if he hadn’t heard a thing, lifting him up with one hand like a chick. Fang Mingming let out a terrified scream.
"Stop!"
Yue Hong shot to his feet, his voice stern. "Stop." He stared at Zhongwu. "He already surrendered."
Zhongwu’s eyes narrowed. He loosened his grip, and Fang Mingming dropped to the floor, clutching his arm in pain. Zhongwu scratched his head and said in his deep, seemingly simple-minded voice, "Sorry, examiner. I didn’t hear him just now. My apologies. And sorry, classmate." As he spoke, his massive body bowed forward.
Fang Mingming suddenly felt a massive shadow fall over him, completely blotting out the light. He couldn’t help but flinch. Enduring the piercing pain, he stammered, "It’s... it’s okay..." Then he felt the enormous figure slowly straighten up, and the light returned overhead.
Yue Hong shook his head and sat back down.
The examiners remained silent. Injuries were commonplace in these exams. Since the candidate himself had accepted the outcome, they had no grounds to reprimand Zhongwu.
Bian Feng stared intently at Zhongwu. ’He negligently killed a candidate just a moment ago, and now this. Either he really has a screw loose, or he’s just brazen, knowing he has backing. But if it were the former, he never would have been recruited by the Mutual Aid Association.’
The medical staff immediately rushed forward to examine him. Fortunately, it was just a dislocated arm and nothing more serious. After a few words of reassurance, they quickly escorted him away.
An examiner looked at Chen Chuan. "Candidate number four hundred and twenty-one. It’s your turn."
Chen Chuan walked up, meeting the gazes of the crowd. When Zhongwu saw him approach, he gave his customary greeting, "Hello, classmate. My name is Zhongwu."
Chen Chuan didn’t say a word. He slowly walked right up to Zhongwu but didn’t look up, so Zhongwu couldn’t see his expression. Still, the fact that he was standing there meant the assessment had begun.
Zhongwu reached out with both hands, trying to grab Chen Chuan.
Despite his simple-minded appearance, he possessed a unique sensitivity, allowing him to judge an opponent’s strength by feel alone. And Chen Chuan gave him a faint sense of danger. So he wasn’t underestimating him in the slightest. As his hands shot out, he used his Wrestling Takedown Strength, a Power he hadn’t used since the assessment began.
Once he got a firm grip on an opponent, his Power would seep into them, instantly stripping them of all resistance and leaving them at his mercy. And the moment he unleashed this Power, most of his own body would be suffused with it as well, leaving him with virtually no openings.
Chen Chuan stood there as if he hadn’t seen the attack, showing no reaction. The examiners watching the exam grew tense, ready to intervene and stop the match at any moment.
At that moment, Chen Chuan seemed to be unaware of his surroundings. His world had narrowed to his opponent. As the two large hands closed in on him, just as the fingertips were about to touch his shoulders, a light flashed in his eyes. In that instant, his Second Self merged with him. He lifted his knee and drove a kick straight up!
This kick concentrated all of his strength. He used a Limit-Breaking Strike without a second thought, a move that should have torn nearly every muscle in his body. But in that same instant, his Second Self absorbed all the damage.
Zhongwu’s massive frame meant greater strength, but his nerve impulses couldn’t possibly be as fast as Chen Chuan’s. Even if their reaction times were equal, with the multiplicative boost from the Second Self, Chen Chuan’s speed was too fast for him to react. Thus, the kick landed squarely on Zhongwu’s chin.
However, because his Wrestling Takedown Strength was currently suffused throughout his body, the explosive force of the Limit-Breaking Strike only made his head spin for a moment. Even so, his once-fluid movements involuntarily faltered. Although his hands had just about landed on Chen Chuan, he couldn’t properly release his Power. He instinctively began to regulate his breathing, preparing to channel his strength again. After thousands of training repetitions, this was but a momentary pause for him.
But in the split second before he could unleash his Power, Chen Chuan’s second kick arrived!
With his Second Self merged, Chen Chuan displayed inhuman speed. He had already kicked the base of Zhongwu’s ear before Zhongwu’s body had even finished reacting, let alone his mind.
Under the impact of the Shocking God Fist Power, it was as if a clap of thunder exploded inside Zhongwu’s brain, causing the sturdy giant to lose consciousness on the spot.
The Jiang Commission Office was in the middle of talking to someone beside him, telling his assistant to order dinner. He wasn’t paying much attention, figuring there was nothing left to see. But then he heard a loud BANG.
"What was that sound?"
