Celestial Human Diagram-Chapter 39 - 32: Shocking the Spirit, Breaking the Limit
Yue Hong retorted, "So we’re supposed to look out for the student assessor, but not the examinees? We have to consider his feelings, but not theirs?"
The man from the Jiang Commission Office glanced at him in surprise, as if finding it odd that he would say such a thing.
Yue Hong was about to say more, but Master Gao stopped him. "The exam is still in progress," he said. "Since the official from the Jiang Commission Office insists, we can discuss how to handle the student, Zhongwu, after it’s over. For now, we will not revoke his status as a student assessor. However, all subsequent assessments he conducts must be carried out under our joint supervision."
The Jiang Commission official knew the chief examiners would concede no further. He looked at Master Gao and said in a milder tone, "Manager Gao’s proposal is reasonable. I accept."
Master Gao looked sternly at everyone. "Back to your posts. The rest of you, with me to Exam Point Five."
Inside Exam Hall Four, Chen Chuan walked to a window and watched silently. From Exam Point Five, three paramedics wheeled out a stretcher. A figure lay on it, covered from head to toe, with only their hair visible.
The atmosphere suddenly grew oppressive. The examinees nearby sighed grimly, but most were more worried about their own upcoming assessments, hoping the student assessor at that station would be replaced.
A moment later, the female teacher walked back into the hall. In a voice a little more subdued than before, she said, "All examinees, return to your seats. The exam will continue."
"What? They’re not replacing him?"
"No replacement? That can’t be right."
"Look at the notice board over there."
The examinees glanced at the notice board by the exam point. Nothing had changed, which meant the student assessor hadn’t been replaced. Everyone looked terrified, afraid they would be assigned to that station.
Chen Chuan walked back and sat in his original seat, his expression growing perfectly calm.
The exam continued, and soon enough, the first examinee chose to forfeit the second-stage exam. He had been assigned to Exam Point Five.
After all, they had already passed the preliminary test. Even if they failed this final stage, they were still considered Wuyi students. It wasn’t worth risking their lives.
Where there was one, a second soon followed. After several more rounds, the female teacher’s voice rang out again: "Number Ninety-six, Number Three Hundred Ninety-eight, Number Four Hundred Twenty-one, to Exam Point Five..."
Fang Mingming shuddered. It was his turn. "I..." Just then, he saw Chen Chuan get right up and head toward the exam point. From nearby, another examinee’s voice called out, "I’m not taking it. I forfeit." A boy then gathered his things and walked out the door, head bowed.
Chen Chuan didn’t even look back.
Fang Mingming hesitated for a moment. Seeing Chen Chuan walk on, he gritted his teeth and followed. ’If Chen Chuan dares to go, why can’t I? I’ll never be able to live with myself if I don’t at least try!’
The remaining examinees in the hall stared after them, stunned. ’Are they crazy? Don’t they value their lives at all?’
As Chen Chuan walked out the main door, he brushed past the female teacher. Goosebumps suddenly erupted on her skin, and her entire body tensed. She whipped her head around, her eyes fixed on his departing back.
Chen Chuan didn’t break stride. His steps were exceptionally steady, yet each one seemed to land with immense weight. When he reached the end of the corridor, he glanced at the notice board before reaching out and pushing open the pair of heavy doors.
Before him lay a spacious examination area. Two rows of long tables flanked an open space in the center. The man from the Jiang Commission Office was seated in the middle of the right-hand side, flanked by his assistant and a liaison teacher.
Opposite the official, directly facing him, sat Master Gao. To Master Gao’s left and right were Yue Hong and Bian Feng—the very lecturer who had accepted Chen Chuan into the academy. Several other teachers were also present. Assistants stood to one side, while paramedics waited near the door. Some of them were looking at Chen Chuan with a mixture of shock, regret, and pity. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
In the center of the open space stood an upper-year student, over two meters tall. His build was bloated and wide, incredibly stout, as if he had grown sideways instead of up. He gave off the impression of a large vat filled to the brim with water. As he stood there, the floor seemed to compress slightly beneath his weight.
His shoulder and back muscles were so thick that he seemed to have no neck at all. His eyes were mere slits, and at the end of his brawny arms were two unusually large hands, big enough to seemingly envelop a person’s entire head in one grasp.
Fang Mingming, who had followed him in, was startled. He hadn’t been able to picture the student assessor before, but seeing him now, he felt a pang of regret. ’It’s too late to back out now,’ he thought. Gritting his teeth, he forced himself to stand up straight.
An examiner spoke up. "Only two examinees showed up? Number Three Hundred Ninety-eight, you’re up first."
Yue Hong chimed in with a warning, "Examinee, to prevent any accidents, we strongly advise you to wear the protective gear."
Fang Mingming immediately heeded the advice. ’This way, even if I can’t win, I should be able to last a few exchanges, right?’ He went to the side and strapped on every piece of protective gear before walking up to face Zhongwu.
At sixteen years old, he stood only about five-foot-seven. The difference in their height and build created a stark contrast.
It was only then that Fang Mingming felt the full weight of his opponent’s oppressive aura. The heat radiating from that massive body made his mouth go dry. Just then, he heard the other student speak in a deep, muffled voice, "Hello. My name is Zhongwu."
