CASSANDRA: The Unfavored Princess-Chapter 70: Rebel?
Princess Valeria was standing in a state of shock. She looked out only to realize that no one else was there.
"Father really left no one." Princess Valeria smiled, "Not even a single guard."
Princess Valeria’s face turned dark as she moved towards the door, looking outside in search of her maid.
"Where did she go?" Princess Valeria’s anger was at its peak. She took a step out but soon realized that the corridors were abandoned. Not even a soul was present.
"Let’s take a walk." Princess Valeria murmured as she walked towards the other rooms.
The history of the palace was as old as the foundation days. It Was the first palace that was created in the Castle. But over the ages, it was forgotten.
Princess Valeria walked into a huge room. "It looks like a library." Princess Valeria smiled as she looked at the basic books there. Some plain pages were still in the drawers. Princess Valeria’s finger touched the table as she walked past it. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
’Nothing interesting.’
Soon Princess Valeria walked towards the wall filled with paintings. As a Princess, she had learned how to appreciate arts.
Princess Valeria walked along the wall to watch each painting. The color was still popping out as if it was just put there. But Princess Valeria knew it was not the case.
Soon Princess Valeria’s steps stopped in front of the painting. The consent was a little different from the rest. Although the size of the canvas was small, the indication of it was clear.
The canvas was black with a course of light in the middle. The rays that were emitted spread out in all four directions giving energy to the four elements.
Princess Valeria touched the element indicating the fire. ’It is as if Elvira has given us her energy to survive in the darkness.’
In Princess Valeria’s mind, the darkness indicated the people of Vivere Kingdom. In the Elvira Empire, the darkness of those people had always tried to control.
Princess Valeria’s lips turned up as her eyes were filled with ridicule. ’And here we are welcoming their Crown Prince here while we should be one killing them off.’
As Princess Valeria wanted to move her hands she saw the corners of the canvas. A touch of shining white was visible at the end. Princess Valeria’s eyes narrowed as she moved a little closer to the bottom of the canvas. Her gaze had turned sharp as she looked closely at it.
Its corners were pocking towards the darkness as if engulfing it.
’Have the painting been destroyed?’ Princess Valeria considered as she tried to touch it again. ’But how could it shine?’
But soon Princess Valeria heard a noise as she turned around in shock. In the silent atmosphere, the noise was like chaos.
"Who is there?" Princess Valeria asked as she walked towards the door slowly. Her every step was filled with caution.
Princess Valeria struggled. Her hands that were still cuffed irritated her. ’If only I was free, I would have killed you.’
Princess Valeria’s eyes were looking around as she entered the corridor. She knew that if she was free then the fright she was feeling now would never be there.
"I ASKED WHO IS THERE?" Princess Valeria shouted again as she moved towards her room.
"Princess?" Suddenly a voice came, making Princess Valeria’s heart stop for a second. Her maid emerged through the door looking worried.
Princess Valeria took deep breaths as she tried controlling her breathing. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Princess Valeria shouted as she asked her maid.
"Princess, you were not in the room so I was worried .." the maid tried to explain but her words shortened as she looked at the first Princess who was ready to kill her.
Princess Valeria kept her heart in check. "Where did you go?" Valeria asked as she walked towards her room.
"I thought the Princess would be hungry so I went to get some fruits."
"In the night?" Valeria raised her eyebrows making the maid nervous.
"There was nothing for the Princess to eat and a guard came to tell me that the main kitchen had prepared some fruits for the princess." The maid said with a trembling voice.
"A guard?" Princess Valeria said as she took a step inside the room. Her eyes swept through the room but soon she realized that a flower pot near the window was on the floor. It would have been normal but the windows were closed.
"You came into the room?" Princess Valeria asked as she turned around.
The maid shook her head. "No, I called for the princess but the Princess did not answer so I went around to look for you."
Princess Valeria’s eyes narrowed. She stared at the maid to identify if the maid was telling the truth or not. After realizing the maid was not involved Princess Valeria’s eyes turned dark.
"You go out and do not come until I call for you." Princess Valeria said as she waited till the maid was out of her sight.
Princess Valeria’s mind was filled with many thoughts as her senses sharpened. Princess Valeria’s eyes narrowed as her hands were ready to burn everything that came into her view.
’Someone had been her.’
Princess Valeria was sure of it. As she walked towards the flowerpot she saw no one there. Princess Valeria smirked as she pushed the flowerpot aside with her legs.
’Who would dare to come here.’ Princess Valeria sneered as she turned around. But soon her eyes fell on the table. Her breathing hitched.
"This .." Princess Valeria looked at the letter kept on the table. Her gaze turned dark as she took it.
’Who might it be.’
Princess Valeria opened the page as the words fell in her eyes.
[The first Princess is the true heir to the throne.]
Princess Valeria’s breath hitched. Her eyes turned dark as she started to burn the page.
’Who?’
As Princess Valeria was burning the page looking at the ashes falling down her sight caught something written underneath the page. The words became visible in the fire.
"Wha .."
Princess Valeria stopped the fire as she looked at the page. She took the page near a candle as she held it over it. All the words that were hidden underneath came up.
[If Princess Valeria wants to know how, I invite her to the top of the outer Palace at midnight.]
Princess Valeria’s eyes were burning with curiosity. Her lips turned up as she burned the page without a second thought.
"Someone is brave enough to break in and leave a message." A smirk played on Princess Valeria’s face. "I should meet the brave."
Princess Valeria looked outside into the darkness. She opened the window as she brought the air inside the room. Soon the burning smell disappeared as Princess Valeria looked at the woods.
’What’s to make me the Emperor.’
’I am the only heir capable.’
’Is it a rebel?’
’Treason to the throne?’
’Is it someone from the Vivere Kingdom?’
’Or someone from within?’
Princess Valeria looked up at the moon as she saw where it was placed. A smile came onto her face.
’I still have time till midnight.’
’I should get ready.’
’After all, I cannot disappoint the one who wants to help me.’
Princess Valeria walked inside the room. Her eyes still moved towards the open window. It was as if she knew that someone was looking at her. Someone knew what she was doing.
Princess Valeria smiled as she walked back towards the window and closed it tightly. Her eyes were focused on the forest even though it was separated by the glass.
Princess Valeria walked back in as she searched for the clothes to wear. Soon Princess Valeria was ready as she looked at the time.
’I should get going.’
Princess Valeria smiled as she walked out. She could not see her maid again but as she took a step out she found that her maid was sleeping on the floor at a distance.
’Like she can protect me.’ Princess Valeria rolled her eyes as she walked past the maid.
Princess Valeria took the stares up. A smile formed on her face as she hummed a tune.
"Let’s meet my well-wisher."
Princess Valeria reached the top of the Outer Palace. The air was blowing softly as the leaves fluttered from time to time.
Princess Valeria smiled as she walked towards the end. Her hands were numb. She looked down as she waited patiently for the person.
Soon someone came walking from behind. Princess Valeria’s lips curled up as she looked up. Her back was facing the person as Valeria looked towards the distance.
"You took your sweet time to come." Princess Valeria said as she closed her eyes to control her rage. It was the first time when she was made to wait for someone else apart from the Emperor or the Empress.
"And yet you managed to come here." Princess Valeria smiled as she turned back to see the man but the person standing in front of her was beyond her expectation.
"Why are you here?" Princess Valeria asked in frustration.
