Carrying a Jurassic on me-Chapter 745 - 376: Being Unreasonable_1
Chapter 745: Chapter 376: Being Unreasonable_1
The newly finished house wasn’t exactly ideal for immediate move-in; it should be aired out for days to get rid of the dampness.
However, Yan Fei didn’t mind his wife’s impatience. It’s their house; they could live in it whenever they wanted. Although the big, empty house had no furniture yet, the couple spent their first night sleeping on the floor.
Despite the ’hardship,’ the young lady slept in till late the next morning. Wrapped up in the duvet and refusing to get up, she said she needed to lie in the new house a bit longer to fill it with more human energy.
She was the first to notice Yan Fei’s pager beep. Seeing the message made her so nervous she forgot about ’increasing the energy in the house.’ She put on her clothes and, together with Yan Fei, ran to the public phone by the zoo gate to make a call.
However, the call didn’t clarify anything. The only thing they knew was that everyone had been detained at the police station. Peng Fa saw the situation go south and asked Li Fang to call for help. The latter didn’t get far before he was also arrested before finishing the call.
No one was certain about the current situation, Xiang Rui had phoned Lin Baoguo to dig up more details. Although Director Lin was well respected in Sancha River town, as the head of a small town police station, it was troublesome for him to get information from the city, and he still hadn’t found anything.
The girl couldn’t care less about snuggling with Yan Fei in the new house. She quickly packed some stuff, didn’t even eat, and insisted on returning home with Yan Fei.
Having his sweet time with the young lady disturbed by such a fiasco definitely annoyed Yan Fei. But he held back his anger, ate a bit with her before setting off.
They didn’t care about the traffic police checking vehicles on the streets in the morning. While they weren’t paying attention, the couple zoomed off towards the North Ring Road, speeding all the way.
Halfway there, they received several messages. Apparently, the people from the cattle farm weren’t detained at the police station. The wet market was in the suburbs, and nearby was only a security room. People and vehicles might have been held at the security room, and Lin Baoguo was getting ready to go and inquire.
Yan Fei originally planned to take Miss Xu Xiaoyan straight back to Sancha River and then head to the city himself. However, upon learning that the people might have been detained in a security room, she immediately reminded him that a security room has no right to arrest and detain people. She could go there with him and teach them the law...
So, Yan Fei did believe she could preach the law. He led the girl straight towards the city.
Along the way, they kept receiving updates, and the address was finally clear. It was indeed a security room.
By the time they found the security room as per the address, it was just after noon. Calculating the time, they covered the almost 300-kilometer distance in just three hours, which was quite impressive without a high-speed road.
The place was easy to find. The big truck from the cattle farm that carried the beef was parked by the side of the road, and right after, they saw the security room that had made the arrests. The nameplate read "security room," but there was a small courtyard, which was too small for the large truck to park in, so it was left outside.
The canvas on the back of the truck was billowing in the wind. Glancing into it from the back, it was empty. However, Yan Fei didn’t bother thinking about whether or not the beef had been sold out. He just slowed down his motorcycle and heard shouts from afar, "Brother Fei, Brother Fei, we’re here..."
Soon after, Heizi and Xiaosong ran over as if competing in a hundred-meter race. Yan Fei didn’t wait for them to start talking and asked, "What happened? Didn’t Uncle Baoguo come? Is he inside?"
"He’s not here. Director Lin went to the city." Upon seeing Yan Fei, Heizi spilled everything out like pouring beans out of a bamboo tube. "This is their village’s own security room, mainly in charge of the nearby wet market. They detained only us, not those who fought us. Director Lin came over earlier. He went inside to look for those responsible, but they were not there. Then someone came and spoke rudely. Director Lin was furious. He said he was going to report to the Public Security Bureau that they had illegally detained us."
Yan Fei turned to look at his wife, and Xu Xiaoyan, after glancing at the sign that read "Village Security Office," analyzed, "The village security room at most has a security director, who has the right to temporarily control and stop crimes, but no right to detain people..."
While she was talking, Yan Fei’s eyebrows suddenly knitted together.
Then two young men came out of the small courtyard, shouting at them, "Hey, you guys, get away from here, did you hear? You can just park here wherever you please, huh? And you two, didn’t you hear us when we just told you to scram? Who let you come back?"
Miss Xu Xiaoyan was indignant and muttered, "What’s their problem if we’re standing at the gate? We can’t even park by the roadside now? Are they security officers?"
Yan Fei, on the other hand, was quite patient. He moved the motorbike a couple of steps forward and asked Heizi, "What’s going on?"
The duo were still shouting behind them, "Move farther away, don’t stand in front of our door, giving us nausea. This day and age, anyone can come to our place and swagger around, if you’re tired of living and wanting to die, just say so..."
Heizi was quite angry, "We came earlier, couldn’t find anyone, and didn’t see Old Ou or anyone else. Director Lin went to the city. We were waiting at the gate, but they wouldn’t let us stay here, that’s why we went a bit farther away."
Yan Fei asked Xu Xiaoyan again, "If these two aren’t security officers, aren’t they breaking the law? And do you still want to talk about the law with people like them?"
The girl nodded, then shook her head, looking at a loss herself.
Yan Fei turned to her and smiled, asking Heizi and the other, "How did you two get here?"
"Upon hearing that Heizi arrived on a motorcycle, he made arrangements, "Xiaosong, you ride that motorcycle, and you take my wife home first. I’ll wait here."
Miss Xu Xiaoyan looked worried upon hearing this: "What are you planning to do? Uncle Baoguo has already gone for help, you must not do anything illegal."
Yan Fei smiled: "Don’t worry, you guys go first!"
Heizi didn’t ask what Yan Fei was going to do and just handed a bunch of keys to Xiaosong, saying, "I’ll take sister-in-law on that motorcycle, your motorcycle isn’t convenient for riding with someone else."
That’s true, the back seat of Yan Fei’s motorcycle was too high. When he rides with a girl, the girl can lean on him. If it was someone else, he wouldn’t be comfortable!
Heizi quickly ran across the road to a nearby intersection, rode the motorcycle over and signaled to Miss Xu, "Sister-in-law, get on!"
Yan Fei helped Miss Xu onto the motorcycle: "Go ahead!"
Once Miss Xu got on the motorcycle, she instructed him: "Don’t cause trouble, even if they are doing something illegal, don’t join them in breaking the law!"
Yan Fei reassured her, and as the motorcycle moved away and he turned around, his face became expressionless.
Before he even entered the small security courtyard, he saw a few people coming out of the houses inside, locking the door while swearing: "Got guts, huh? No matter if you’re a dragon or a tiger, you have to behave here, don’t you know where you are..."
Another person was reprimanding him: "You sure do talk a lot. Hurry up and go out for dinner, then come back to deal with these guys. Haven’t seen such arrogance in years, if we don’t give them a good beating, they won’t respect Lord Ma with three eyes!"
Another younger man was flexing his wrist: "Damn, that guy can really take a pounding, my hand hurts from hitting him!"
Just then, a young man saw Yan Fei coming in and yelled at him: "What are you doing here? This isn’t a place you can just walk into! We just said no one should stay at the entrance, and you still dare to come in..."
Yan Fei couldn’t be bothered to speak and just turned around to close the door. When the two small iron doors were closed, he twisted the lock open, put the rebar through the door, and turned it hard to lock it.
While he was locking the door, that young man had already come over. He reached out to grab Yan Fei, but Yan Fei easily pushed him away.
Turning back around, he casually pulled out a small ID from his pocket, and coldly asked, "I’m from the Sancha River militia, show me your work permits. Those who were just beating up people inside, come out and report."
The young man who was just pushed away roared and came back: "Who the hell do you think you are as a member of the militia? You son of a..."
His insult was cut short by a slap across his face. Dazed, he heard Yan Fei say, "Don’t swear. I’m here to investigate. Do all of you have your work permits? Who among you is a regular police officer? Step forward."
The group was taken aback by Yan Fei’s audacity. After a pause, someone cursed, "Where the hell did this little runt come from..."
Yan Fei remained calm: "If none of you have any permits, then you’ll have to come with me today. Do you know that illegally detaining someone is against the law?"
"Against the law? We are the law in this area, and you say we’re breaking the law? Guys, stop wasting time, let’s take him down first!" A young man shouted and reached for a shovel and swung it towards Yan Fei.
"So, you guys are going to act recklessly, huh?" Yan Fei grabbed the shovel and asked again.
"To hell with talking..." The man swore as he tried to pull the shovel back. Finding that he couldn’t move it, he swore and threw a kick at Yan Fei.
But before his foot met Yan Fei, he was kicked and fell to the ground in pain, unable to utter a word.
Yan Fei snorted coldly and stepped forward towards the men who were coming at him with weapons, "I just love dealing with people who don’t play by rules..."
There was nothing he could do, the weather was hot and everyone was quick-tempered. Besides, if he were a police officer, they might still be polite. If he was just a member of the militia, what does that count for? Thus, these people didn’t bother to waste words with him, they just tried to take him down directly.
Yan Fei was no longer polite either. He started punching and kicking, and within five seconds, they were all down.
At this commotion, three more people came out from the houses inside the courtyard. Two of them were the ones who were shooing people away by the gate earlier, and another was a young girl. Once they saw what was happening, the two men were ready to charge at Yan Fei, but they stopped after a few steps when they realized that their companions had all been defeated.
