Chapter 677: The Most Terrifying

"Gege..."

He Juan could almost imagine the devastating scene unfolding in his mind’s eye. Mu Yuze, his mate, his little bunny, his most precious... he was forced to endure the most unbearable and agonizing ordeal an omega could go through, all the while crying out for He Juan. He was begging for He Juan to come save him, to take him away from the clutches of those abhorrent Alphas. Oh, how desperately he must have clung onto the hope at first, only for it to turn into despair as seconds passed by without He Juan’s presence. Even then, he still called out for He Juan, still wanted nobody but him.

But He Juan...

He was too late.

Once again, he failed to protect the most important person to him.

Staggering, He Juan held onto the wall for support as his throat spasmed violently. As he had not eaten anything, all he could throw up was stomach acid and the pill that had yet to be digested by his system. His headache returned with double the force, and it was so excruciating it felt like his head was being split open. However, even amidst the deafening ringing in his ears, his beloved’s tormented cries still echoed with vivid clarity as if it had been branded into his soul.

"Gege."

"Gege...!"

"Gege—"

"Aaaaand, that’s it!" Ku Jin switched off the device, laughing as he looked at He Juan’s miserable state. "Seriously, XIU? We haven’t even started yet, and you’re already like this? Come on, don’t disappoint me too much, okay? It’s not interesting to kill you this way."

"... don’t listen to him."

A weak yet familiar voice sounded from behind the pillar in the corner. Jia Molei struggled to rise to his feet, clutching onto the pillar for support as his entire body still felt weak from the lingering effects of the anesthetic. Despite the pale complexion, his voice was firm as he spoke to He Juan, "It’s not too late yet. You have to go now. That thing he’s holding is—"

"Oops," Ku Jin crossed the space in a few large strides and covered his mouth in time, grinning. His bottomless eyes bore down on Jia Molei, who was glaring at him in return. "What are you doing, Molei? You should have just stayed there obediently like you always did instead of spoiling my fun. What if I get angry at you?"

He Juan, on the other hand, no longer registered anything aside from Jia Molei’s words. Like a dying man desperate to grasp onto the last lifeline that could save him, he, too, clung onto the reassurance Jia Molei had just uttered.

That’s right... it’s not too late yet. He could still make it if he left now. He had to... he had to get to Mu Yuze as quickly as possible...

As if he had lost his soul, He Juan mechanically turned to the direction he had come from. However, he found his path obstructed by a dozen or so men crowding his only way out. They had appeared without him realizing, each of them carrying a weapon such as metal bats, daggers and steel beams. It was evident that Ku Jin had summoned them here to impede his escape.

"Move," He Juan commanded, his silver eyes icy and hostile.

"Ah, ah, do you think you can come and leave as you please?" Ku Jin clicked his tongue in mock exasperation. "Why don’t you—"

Click.

Something cold and hard pressed against his temple, effectively cutting him off sentence. Ku Jin froze. He glanced at Jia Molei through his peripheral vision, then at the empty holster around his waist. It was his careless mistake to expose his back to Jia Molei for those fleeting seconds.

"Let him go," Jia Molei hissed sharply. "Or I will blast your damn head open like a fucking watermelon."

In response to that threat, Ku Jin burst out into a fit of maniacal laughter. "Molei, you will not dare," he said, his smile fading from his face. He stated with confidence, "You can’t bring yourself to kill me, or else you would have done it early on."

"Oh, shall we test it?" Jia Molei sneered, his finger ready against the trigger. If he exerted a little force, the gun would go off and this devil would no longer exist in this world. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

With each second passing, He Juan felt his sanity eroding bit by bit. His body trembled from intense agony, so much that fingertips were also shaking along. It was as if all the scars on his body had regressed to the time when they had just been inflicted, sending waves upon waves of excruciating pain onto his sensitive nerves ending. Yet he was certain that the pain he was feeling right now could not be compared to the torment Mu Yuze had to go through. It could never be compared.

It’s not too late yet, he repeated inside his mind, again and again, as if it was the only thing preventing him from completely breaking apart.

"I told you to move," he gritted out.

In the next second, an uncontrollable torrent of hostile pheromones erupted from him, saturated with such intense rage and pain that it felt as if the air itself vibrated with the emotional onslaught. The men were forced back a few steps, a hint of fear flickering in their eyes as they faced He Juan’s overwhelming presence.

Despite this, they gritted their teeth, picked up their weapons and charged forward as if they were fearlessly hurling themselves into doom’s embrace!

What kind of person was the most terrifying in the world?

Was it a person who had nothing to lose? Or one who had lost everything?

No. It was someone who had plummeted into the deepest pit of hell after losing their everything— someone who had tasted what pure despair and darkness felt like, only to discover that they still had a single pure, fragile flower clutched in their bloodstained hands. And when this precious bloom was threatened... when confronted with the notion of experiencing that soul-crushing despair once more... it would give birth to a blazing rage and unprecedented desperation like never before.

"GET OUT OF MY WAY!"

He Juan’s voice thundered in harmony with the fierce storm as his pheromones surged wildly, causing those nearest to him to crumple to the ground as if an invisible force had crushed them.

Even after death, their eyes remained wide in horror and disbelief, blood seeping out from their noses, mouths and ears.
