Captive Mate BL-Chapter 508: + - +
Chapter 508: +Chapter 508+
Blissfully unaware of what was going on outside, Rosie was packing up inside with Patty helping out.
Patty held out a string of fabric, her brows furrowed, "What’s this?"
"A pantyhose," Rosie gave a flippant reply, bustling around, "Stash it in the suitcase, it’s for work."
Patty could totally see how this indecipherable string of fabric could be worn by Rosie to work. "Did Jael come in?"
Rosie paused at the question, a knowing look on her face. "You’ve been really casual about Jael recently."
Patty’s eyes widened a fraction, like she only noticed it when Rosie pointed it out. "Isn’t that a good thing?"
Rosie was over the moon, Patty hadn’t even reacted to that, the shoes in her hands didn’t even fall. She could believe how effective meeting Jazz had been, speaking about the trainer...
"Oh, by the way, did Jazz..."
The sound of a shoe dropping cut Rosie off, her eyes wide in disbelief. Just the day before, Patty had been completely oblivious to the trainer’s advances, what had changed in such a short time?
"I-I’m going to check if Jael came in," Patty said in a rush, hurrying out of the room.
Rosie watched her leave in amazement, she had just wanted to find out if Jazz had called or texted. It was pretty soon, but her curiosity had gotten the best of her.
She just shook her head with a fond smile, and finished up with packing. It was endearing how Patty seemed to forget how to function when she had a crush on someone, and this time, it was someone who was also interested in her, so things were already off to a great start.
She dragged out her suitcase to find Patty chatting with Jael on her front porch, and she seriously considered getting Jazz a gift, she had single-handedly fixed the awkwardness she constantly had to deal with when Patty still resolutely avoided Jael.
"Thanks for all the help," She muttered sarcastically as she struggled to get the suitcase down the stairs.
Jael and Patty immediately came to her aid, Patty getting to her first, easily lifting the suitcase she had been struggling with.
Rosie found herself looking at her friend with new eyes, Patty dressed like a 1950s housewife, but she had a lot of hidden strength under her pretty dresses.
Jael saw it too, backing away, Patty didn’t look like she needed his help.
While Patty got the suitcase in the backseat, Rosie turned to Jael. "And where have you been?"
Jael’s easy smile didn’t belie the fact that he had just murdered someone and stashed them in a bin. It was a momentary cover-up, he already had people coming over to properly dispose of the body.
"Right here," He said as he walked around to get into the car.
Rosie’s gaze cooled, she had seen bloodstains on Jael’s white shirt. She didn’t mention it, getting into the car. "You wanted to skip out on helping, didn’t you?" She accused, "For that, ice cream is on you."
Jael’s smile didn’t fade, "I agreed to drive you here, I don’t remember agreeing to pitch in as well."
Rosie didn’t back down, bickering with Jael all the way to the store. The thought of what Jael was really doing clung to the recesses of her mind, it was a relief that Jael had asked her to stay over.
Patty remained silent while they both argued about who should pay, and that was because the Beta had fallen soundly asleep. Her dark brown hair was tangled as she stumbled out, her eyes half-closed.
The sight of it cleared up the unease that had dug into Rosie’s skin, she wasn’t alone. Even though her boss and Mafia King weren’t around, she would be fine, she would be safe, and she would demand a lot of bonuses when they came back.
Rosie confidently marched forward, eager to find out if they had her desired flavor of ice cream. And if they didn’t, she would have Jael drive around until they did.
Jael hung back in the parking lot with Patty until she stopped swaying. There were a decent number of shoppers even at this hour, but he didn’t want to leave her alone in the parking lot while she was out of it.
"Thank you," Patty murmured, then as he was about to lead the way in, her voice stopped him. "Wait..."
Jael stopped and turned to her, "Is something wrong?" Patty was such a polar opposite of Rosie, compared to the other, who was as loud as her hair, Patty was like a calm lake...
"Let’s buy blue dye," Patty suggested with a completely straight face.
... a calm lake that hid all of its chaos underneath.
"What?" Jael blinked, certain he had misheard.
"We’ll get food dye, it’s safe," Patty went on in her quiet, soothing voice.
"Why are we getting food dye?" Jael asked slowly. Clearly, Patty had thought he was worried about how safe the dye was, and not why they had to get some in the first place.
"If we don’t, Rosie is going to eat blueberries till she makes herself sick. Plus, I want to see her reaction when she wakes up and she’s blue." She said very evil words in a gentle voice.
Jael was quickly reevaluating his view on Patty right then, and although it was a harmless prank, he wasn’t too eager to join in when Rosie would be spending the next two weeks or so at the mansion.
"Rosie will shoot me if she finds out I had a hand in it," Jael seriously expressed his concerns.
Patty thought about it, "Fine, I’ll take all the blame, but I need your help getting it on her."
Jael was even less inclined to do that, he had been joking with his first words, but he felt like Rosie would genuinely make an attempt on his life if she woke up while they were in the middle of dyeing her blue.
"You’re on your own with that," He was quick to back off.
Patty deflated in disappointment, the emotion as quiet as she was. "Can you at least keep this a secret?"
That he could absolutely do, Jael nodded vigorously. He would just pretend their conversation never happened. "Let’s go in before Rosie comes looking for us."
