Campione Scumbag in Mash-up Anime-Chapter 110: Twin Horn Syndicate
Chapter 110 - Twin Horn Syndicate
"Y-You... W-Why are you here?! Weren't you supposed to still be in London?" The group leader asked in fear.
"..."
Ren didn't answer the question, and with a swift wave of his hand, he unleashed an invisible wave of magical energy.
*BZZT!*
The three subordinates instantly collapsed to the floor, their bodies limp and unconscious before they could even fight back.
Ren deliberately incapacitated them quickly, not wanting Nino, Miku, and Itsuki to see unnecessary bloodshed. Only the group leader was left conscious, though his body trembled violently under the pressure of Ren's magical energy.
*TAP!* *TAP!* *TAP!*
With light steps, Ren approached the leader. His hand moved swiftly, gripping the man's neck and lifting him off the floor with ease.
"Who are you, and what is your purpose?"
His voice was cold, and his eyes seemed to see a corpse, making the leader feel as if he were staring into the abyss of death itself.
"..."
The leader kept his mouth tightly shut, refusing to answer despite the fear clearly etched on his face.
Seeing the man's silence, Ren scoffed, a small, mocking smile appearing on his face.
"You think silence will save you? I have methods to make you answer."
Then he chanted an incantation:
"Tales, Facts, Myths, all are stored within my writings, all secrets gathered within my grasp, nothing can be hidden from my mind."
*ZWING!*
Instantly, a book appeared in the palm of his hand. It was the Divine Authorities Book of Knowledge, a power Ren had obtained after defeating the Egyptian Mythology's God of Wisdom, Thoth.
Its main ability was called the Omniscient Codex—a power that granted Ren access to all knowledge in the world. The knowledge referred to was not limited to mere information, but also included all types of magic ever created on earth, both extant and extinct.
The Divine Authorities Book of Knowledge was somewhat similar to Marquis Voban's Divine Authorities Singing Spellbook, which allowed Voban to steal knowledge of magical arts from others and execute all magic existing on earth successfully.
However, there was a significant difference between the two. The Book of Knowledge didn't need to steal magic first like the Singing Spellbook—Ren could directly access all magic in Earth's history just by opening it, making it a far more efficient tool.
*SHUA!*
Ren opened the book with his mind, and its pages moved on their own, stopping at a magic suitable for his needs—a magic that allowed him to forcefully extract information from another person's mind.
For a moment, an absurd thought flashed through his head.
'If only the Divine Authorities Book of Knowledge could transform into a little girl like Voban's Divine Authorities Singing Spellbook...'
But he quickly dismissed the thought, refocusing on the situation before him.
"Verum Dictum."
The spell that forced the target's mind to surrender to absolute truth, pierced the leader's inner self like a knife cutting through mist.
"Who told you to kidnap Nakano Itsuki?" Ren asked again.
This time, under the leader's horrified gaze, his mouth moved, though his face showed resistance.
"I... was assigned by the higher-ups of the Twin Horn Syndicate. They wanted to kidnap Nakano Itsuki to threaten the Seventh King... to threaten you."
Ren frowned, but showed no surprise. He had already suspected a larger motive behind the kidnapping.
"What is the Twin Horn Syndicate?"
Still trapped in the grip of Verum Dictum, the leader had no choice but to spill everything he knew.
"The Twin Horn Syndicate is an organization composed of followers of Tsuchimikado Yakou. These people disregard Tsuchimikado Yakou's crimes, and become obsessed, drowned, and intoxicated by the spells he left behind, and eventually worship him blindly. The Twin Horn Syndicate has caused several terrible spiritual disasters like terrorists."
"Why would they try to threaten me using Itsuki? Don't they know the serious consequences of provoking a Campione?" Ren asked, puzzled.
"The majority of the Twin Horn Syndicate members, including the higher-ups... they consider the Campione's reputation to be exaggerated. They believe Tsuchimikado Yakou is superior, that he is a true unparalleled individual. They say Campiones are just rumors exaggerated by the outside world." The leader answered helplessly. ƒreewebɳovel.com
"So that's it." Ren began to understand the root of the problem.
Japan hadn't produced a Campione in a long time, and had lost its fear of the power held by a Devil King like himself. Mystical organizations like the Twin Horn Syndicate, isolated in their own beliefs, had underestimated what a Campione was capable of. They considered stories of Campione's destruction and domination abroad to be nothing more than fake news. After all, people only believed what they saw.
In short, their ignorance stemmed from a lack of knowledge. Their perspective was narrow, fixated on the idol they had created from Tsuchimikado Yakou, without understanding the reality of the wider world.
"Is the Twin Horn Syndicate's goal to kidnap Itsuki in order to control me?"
Although he already had a hypothesis in his mind, Ren needed to confirm it.
"The Twin Horn Syndicate wants to make the Seventh King their puppet. They believe that by controlling your lover, you will submit."
After hearing the leader's answer, Ren shook his head.
"A puppet? They think I can be made into a doll? It seems I need to teach these mystical practitioners in Japan why a Campione is called a Devil King on earth. If I don't show them reality, I'm afraid they will continue to underestimate a Campione."
With a swift wave of his hand, he made the leader collapse unconscious to the floor. Ren then turned around, his gaze shifting to the three women who had witnessed everything in tense silence.
He approached Itsuki, who stood with teary eyes.
"Itsuki, I'm sorry. All of this happened because of me."
Itsuki threw herself into Ren's embrace, her arms wrapping tightly around his waist.
"It's not your fault, hubby, I missed you." Her voice muffled as she buried her face in Ren's chest.
"..."
On the other hand, Miku, who stood not far from them, bit her lip. Jealousy was evident even as she tried to hide it by turning her face away and playing with the ends of her hair.
However, Nino was full of confusion, unable to hold back any longer. As an ordinary person experiencing supernatural events for the first time, everything that had just happened felt like an absurd nightmare.
"Wait a minute! What exactly is going on here?! I don't understand what you Rokuhara and that bad guy were talking about? Seventh King? Campione? Devil King on earth? Twin Horn Syndicate? What the heck is all this? You guys aren't playing roles, are you?"
