Vale didn’t say anything. Instead, he held his middle finger against his thumb and smiled before flicking it.

A sonic boom of heat and light slammed into Alyndra like a giant’s punch, sending her backward. Her figure crashed into a building on the other street, slamming through a metal door and tearing through it, disappearing inside with a clatter.

A moment of silence passed before golden light flashed through and around the building. Seconds later, Alyndra shot out as the structure collapsed, cut into equal squares.

Alyndra’s eyes had gained a feverish look. "Are you speaking the truth when you said we can really fight with everything we have?"

"I did, didn’t I?" Vale raised his hand, and fire spewed out, condensing into the shape of a sword that throbbed like a wound. This was a fight no fire spear could handle.

Suddenly, her body relaxed, her face losing its hostility, and her muscles softened, it even looked as if she would drop her sword at any moment.

He shot forward again, his body streaking like red light, like a firefly. He saw her relax and didn’t give her the chance to use her technique again. Already in her space, he activated the three-headed sword and yanked her weight forward.

But instead of just falling, she stumbled forward and turned it into a roll. Just as she was parallel to the ground, her sword reflected light that scattered across the battlefield.

Vale, who wanted to take advantage, had to stop his advance and shot up into the air, quickly deactivating the artifact.

"Got you." She smiled as she straightened. Her sword turned into a whirlwind, as if tiny blades of light had gathered around it like a storm.

Then she slashed, and the storm blasted forward. The ground in front of her cracked sharply, and a wrecked crater appeared where the storm passed through.

Vale, who was still midair, smiled. "You think I can’t dodge this while in the air?"

It was a simple thing. Since he had always taken advantage of the fact that he was immune to heat and fire, he created an explosion above him, using the shockwave to propel himself back down like a sinking stone.

Her lips curled. "Fool." She made complicated symbols with her left hand.

A sword slash leaped from her blade, cutting through the air like molten fire. At the same time, the light flashed above Vale, vanished, and reappeared around him in an instant.

The two attacks slammed into Vale. The ground cracked and shook, dust and debris billowed up, enveloping the surroundings.

Alyndra turned into light and disappeared from the middle of the fire, reappearing beside the pile of bodies.
