Building My SSS-Rank Universal Empire: From Trash to Cosmic Overlord-Chapter 117: Let me deal with you
When Alyndra was first told about the outlaws attacking the Scuffed Bones, she was surprised. Then, she clasped her hand on the table and smiled. She had said, "Oh? Have you seen them, then?"
She was referring to Vale and his team, but her attendant shook his head. "Only the outlaws. A report said they looked to be half-asleep and didn’t mind harm happening to them. This way, they have been successful in beating the Scuffed Bones so far."
"And the other flag?" Alyndra had asked.
"No one is making a move to help... Should we send our Knights?"
She had laughed. "Why? Leave them to sort themselves out. What you should look out for right now is Vale. Find him for me."
Her smile widened when her attendant left. She touched her sword and looked at it lovingly. Then, she glanced at her hand, where a fire had burned her without her noticing. She whispered, "I knew you couldn’t die so easily. Those assassins are nothing."
So, she wasn’t surprised when her attendant returned a while later to tell her that Vale had been spotted at Rank 3, locked in a fight with Fell.
Her face fell. "He’s fighting Fell? Then he’ll die by that trickster... A shame. I wanted to play with him myself."
Then, she stood and slung her sword onto her back. "Then I’ll just go see the fight."
She flew directly through her window and ran like a streak of golden light, jumping from roof to roof. Alyndra could smell the acidic scent of burning and the charred one of meat. So, she wasn’t really surprised when she stood in front of the Rank 3 team’s base.
Or what should have been their base.
Nothing remained. Even the stones had been scorched away. Only one section of a wall remained, and crouching on it was Vale and his two team members.
"I... wasn’t expecting this," Alyndra said. Her hand clenched her sword unconsciously, and she relaxed when she realized it. ’I had already marked him as a dangerous man, but not to this extent!’
Her eyes finally settled on the bodies piled high in front of the wall—some whole, but most missing limbs or simply burned, as if they were meat forgotten on fire.
And atop the whole pile was Fell in his monsterization form, his head cut off.
’I was expecting something... but not like this. Bastard. Vale flipped the whole thing over! Something happened... Right, where’s that small man?’
She said coldly, "Why have you done this?"
Vale smiled. "I came for Fell’s head, and they tried to stop me."
"Attacking Fell is also wrong," Alyndra said casually, as if they were talking about the weather or what type of weapon she liked using.
Vale put his hand on his chin, as if thinking about something, then snapped his fingers. "Right. He sent assassins after me. Is that enough?"
His voice turned colder still. "And the assassins he sent killed one of my subordinates. Is that enough reason to take his head?"
Alyndra matched his coldness with her own. "You should have reported to us Ten in such a situation instead of taking things into your own hands."
Vale was silent and stared at her. She stared back.
His mouth curled with annoyance. "Why don’t you just drop the act? You already plotted my death when you sent me to kill the outlaws and then sent assassins after us.
"You gave Fell the idea. You knew he would come after me when you sent us after those outlaws."
She was silent for a while, then suddenly, she smiled.
Then, she began to laugh, her body shaking as she covered her face as if she were shy. "Stop, stop, stop! You are so funny, Vale. Why are you so angry? Yes, I sent the assassins after you, right after I told you to kill the outlaws.
"It’s simply one sword for two birds. Well, this still works as well. You’ve cleaned out one of the Flags here in the Second Layer. It’ll make things interesting, and I can absorb their wealth...
"Come to think of it, this will change a lot of things. I wonder who will be Rank 3 now."
Vale jumped down from the wall. "You think I’m out of this game you thought you set?"
Her eyes flickered to him dismissively. "I’m an S-ranked Knight. You were already dead the moment you saw me and didn’t run."
Vale lifted the three-headed twisting blade. "I will send more souls to Xan," he said gently.
Then, his eyes flickered to Tiber and Slya behind him. They immediately understood him and stood up from the wall, then lurched forward in a run.
Suddenly, metal rubbed against metal. A flash of light followed, as if the sun had suddenly brightened. It was accompanied by a swooshing sound and the cracking of hard ground.
Tiber and Slya stopped running at once because, in front of them, was a straight, deep fissure, smooth, as if someone had run a sharp blade through it.
"Where do you think you are going?" Alyndra asked. Half of her sword had already left its sheath, gleaming with condensed golden light. "I have not given you permission to leave!"
Tiber swallowed. ’Just how fast was her sword? I didn’t see anything!’
Slya was thinking the same. Her hand was already curled around a forged sword, but she doubted she could do anything with it.
"They don’t need it."
Vale raised his hand. Fire roared in front of him, a wall of ripping heat that he sent toward her with a flick of his wrist.
Suddenly, the wall was split into two equal halves vertically, and standing in the middle was Alyndra, her sword raised. The blade, nearly the same size as her, gleamed with sharp edges that gathered golden light like melting gold.
Alyndra turned to where Slya and Tiber were. "So they ran. No matter. I will get them later after I deal with you."
"They ran because I don’t want them caught up in our fight. It’s something you’ve wanted to know, right? How strong I am."
Alyndra laughed. "Of course. I will kill you, but I want to see how much you can struggle for...!!"
Suddenly, Vale was in front of her, his body rippling with the aftereffects of a small, controlled explosion that sent him forward.
She sucked in a breath and took a step back in sheer shock.
