Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game-Chapter 40 - 038 Too ashamed to face anyone
Chapter 40: 038 Too ashamed to face anyone
Charlotte Miller felt utterly embarrassed and even more so within Atlas Hallow’s company.
Overnight, she went from being an unknown executive dining room server to the president’s secretary, which left all the female employees at Hallow Clan in shock.
Every girl dreams of being Cinderella. Though they know it’s unrealistic, they still daydream silently. When a wealthy prince has no woman by his side, it gives every girl hope. But suddenly, a woman appeared next to the president, which was somewhat disheartening.
A girl from the dining hall, just by relying on her beauty, rose to a high position overnight. Cinderella at least had glass slippers, but what did Charlotte Miller have? The girls, fueled with jealousy, began spreading rumors.
All the girls believed Charlotte seized her opportunity, enticing Atlas Hallow, their usual aloof deity of chastity, during his lunch at the executive dining room.
Charlotte heard these rumors, maintaining a blank expression, but secretly laughing so hard it hurt. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Chaste deity? They really should see Atlas Hallow—in a suit, elegant and refined, but without it, nothing less than a beast.
Where did these girls get the confidence that their judgments were infallible? Why assume she clung to Hallow just for his looks and wealth? Why couldn’t she be a princess?
After exchanging files in the secretary’s office, Charlotte carried a few documents to the president’s office.
The night before last, her bones felt like they’d been pulled apart, one by one, taking a long time to settle back into place. Atlas Hallow not only had stamina but also numerous tricks up his sleeve. She was a novice, yet this man didn’t spare a thought for her, almost exhausting her.
When he had something to take care of yesterday and told her not to wait up, she breathed a sigh of relief. If it happened again last night, she thought she might not even be able to walk today.
Some things are meant to be lost, given to Atlas Hallow without regrets, yet there’s always an indescribable feeling.
This feeling comes from the suit he’s wearing today.
Yesterday, he wasn’t dressed in this outfit. Though most of his clothes are carefully selected dark suits, usually black, each suit has different details like various buttons: horn, shell, metal, thread, and wood buttons—and others she couldn’t name. While she wasn’t deeply knowledgeable, she never underestimated details.
The suit he’s wearing today looks similar to yesterday’s, but the buttons are different.
This made Charlotte distinctly aware that Atlas must have another place to stay besides the Hallow Family’s house.
Perhaps that place has a walk-in closet as big as the one at the Hallow house, filled with his clothes, and maybe even a beautiful lady living there too.
"What are you thinking about, so distracted? Is this how you work for him too?" Charlotte was in a daze when someone flicked her forehead. She looked up sharply into those deep, dark eyes.
He seemed slightly displeased, his thin lips nearly forming a straight line, and the line of his jaw appeared defiant and firm. A strong male presence emanated from him, along with a hint of anger.
"Mr. Hallow, I haven’t questioned you about staying out all night, yet you’re blaming me for being distracted?" Charlotte’s clear, water-like eyes looked at Atlas’s handsome face as she softly spoke. Her gaze seemed to reproach him, with a hint of a pout. Though she was asking about his night out, there wasn’t any anger in her tone.
"Sharp-tongued." He flicked her forehead again, hitting the same spot, and when Charlotte tried to stand, he pulled her into his arms.
Instantly, his unique sandalwood scent, mixed with an air of danger, enveloped her...
