Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System-Chapter 474: Changes
Taking a deep breath, she steadied herself.
’Fine. If I can’t hack his phone, I’ll hack the maid’s.’
Without hesitation, she breached the maid’s phone.
The maid, meanwhile, was lazily scrolling through short videos when a message suddenly popped up.
’An important message has been delivered. If you show this to Mr. Nick, you will receive one million dollars.’
The maid scoffed.
"A scam," she muttered and closed it without another glance.
Aurora’s eye twitched.
She typed again, fingers flying. Another notification appeared.
’If you refuse, your bank account will be wiped to zero.’
The maid’s face drained of color. She shrieked softly and, in a panic, smashed her phone straight onto the floor.
Aurora stared at the screen, speechless.
’Even this kind of thing can happen?’
She inhaled deeply, forcing herself to calm down. Then a thought crossed her mind.
’The assistant.’
Assistants were always useful in these stories.
Without hesitation, she hacked Nick’s assistant’s phone.
This time, she watched closely.
The assistant read the message she had sent, his brows knitting together.
"This looks like a trick," he muttered to himself. "Probably Laurie is trying to get Mr. Nick’s attention again. Better ignore it."
The moment those words left his mouth, Aurora froze. Her lips slowly parted, disbelief flooding her expression.
Now she understood.
Now she truly understood why, in these cliché novels, the male lead always seemed blind.
It wasn’t a coincidence. The plot armor was simply too thick for the truth to penetrate at all.
She watched as Nick slowly took out another phone, and for a brief moment, a spark of hope flared inside Aurora.
Then her hope died instantly.
"A satellite phone?" she muttered, slapping her forehead as she sucked in a sharp breath. The faint smell of coffee and roasted beans around her suddenly felt suffocating. ’Is the universe actively helping this idiot?’
She closed her eyes for a second, forcing herself to suppress the irritation boiling in her chest. This was getting ridiculous.
’Fine. If the plot won’t let him see the truth, I’ll shove the truth straight into his hands.’
Without wasting another second, Aurora hacked into Annie’s phone, extracted the necessary biological records, and generated a complete DNA comparison between Maya and Laurie.
Her fingers flew across the screen, movements sharp and decisive. Once everything was compiled, she arranged for the documents to be delivered directly.
After school ended, Aurora immediately checked the delivery status.
What she saw next nearly made her snap. The maid received the envelope.
Aurora leaned forward, eyes narrowed, watching through the camera feed as the maid glanced at the thick stack of documents, wrinkled her nose, and tossed it straight into the trash bin.
Straight. Into. The trash.
Aurora’s fingers dug into her palm.
’How... how does a maid think she has the authority to decide what’s important for her employer?’ Her jaw tightened. ’And how does this house still function with people like this in it?’
Suppressing the urge to storm over and slap sense into someone, Aurora inhaled deeply. One breath. Then another.
’Enough.’
She tracked Nick’s location and stood up without hesitation.
’If I can’t break the plot armor from afar, I’ll crack it face to face.’
After all, she was a cockroach. And cockroaches survived everything.
She got into a taxi, the city lights blurring past the window as her thoughts sharpened into a single goal. Soon enough, the car stopped in front of a café.
Nick was there. Sitting by the window. Waiting.
This was the café where Jules had last been seen, and hence he was waiting in the hopes that Jules would show up there. What a naive yet foolish man.
Aurora stepped inside, the low hum of conversation and the scent of espresso filling the air. She walked straight toward him, her footsteps steady.
Nick felt a shadow fall over him.
His heart leapt.
"Jules..." he began with a hopeful smile, snapping his head up.
Then he froze.
The smile vanished instantly.
His brows knitted together as confusion replaced expectation. "What do you want?" he demanded, his tone sharp. "Who are you?"
Aurora calmly met his gaze. "There’s something you need to see."
Nick leaned back, eyes roaming over her with open suspicion.
"What is this now? Are you here to propose marriage, or are you interested in me?"
He waved his hand dismissively, a smug curve to his lips. "I’m already married. You don’t stand a chance."
Aurora scoffed.
Without another word, she placed the DNA comparison report on the table between them.
The paper made a soft sound as it landed, but to Nick, it felt heavy.
He frowned, eyes dropping to the documents. "What’s this supposed to be?"
Aurora smiled faintly, though there was no warmth in it. "I’m Laurie’s enemy. I was digging for dirt on her, and I stumbled across something interesting."
She tilted her head slightly. "I couldn’t sleep peacefully unless I shared it with you."
Nick stared at her, baffled, blinking slowly as if he were trying to determine whether she was human or something else entirely.
"You’re insane," he muttered. Still, something about her confidence made him uneasy.
With a sigh, he picked up the papers. The moment his eyes scanned the results, his breath hitched.
His pupils shrank. The words were clear.
Maya.... DNA Match: Laurie. Plastic surgery confirmed.
Nick’s fingers trembled. He looked up at Aurora. Then back at the report. Then up again.
"This is ridiculous," he snapped, shaking his head. "Even if you hate Laurie, you should’ve done proper research. How could Maya possibly be Laurie?"
He scoffed and flung the papers toward Aurora. "I don’t believe this."
Aurora didn’t even blink.
In the next second, she grabbed his wrist.
Before Nick could react, she twisted sharply.
A pig-like scream tore through the café.
"Ahhh...!"
Chairs scraped against the floor as people turned in shock.
Aurora leaned closer, her voice calm, almost gentle. "Listen carefully. I won’t repeat myself."
She tightened her grip just enough to make him gasp. "This is the truth. If you don’t believe me, do the DNA test yourself."
Her eyes hardened. "But make sure Maya doesn’t sense it. If the report gets tampered with, I won’t be responsible for what happens next."
She leaned toward his ear, her breath brushing against his skin. "And the reason you blindly trusted Laurie all this time?"
She chuckled softly. "It’s because you rely on instincts that are just as stupid as your brain."
Nick’s eyes burned with rage. He wanted to lash out. He wanted to scream.
But the pain radiating from his twisted arm forced his pride down. Sweat beaded on his forehead as he swallowed hard and nodded.
"I... I’ll do it," he ground out.
Aurora released him and straightened, smoothing her sleeve as if she hadn’t just caused a scene.
She glanced back at him with a smirk.
"If you don’t get a definitive DNA result within two days, I’ll personally make sure your parents start questioning whether you’re even their biological son."
With that, she turned and walked away, her footsteps unhurried.
Nick remained frozen in his seat, clutching his wrist, heart pounding violently.
For a brief moment, he wondered...
’Does she hate me... or does she hate Laurie even more?’
If Aurora could hear his thoughts, she would have smiled faintly and told him straight to his face that, yes, it was indeed Nick whom she hated more.
From her perspective, Laurie, no matter how twisted, was one of the most smartest characters in that entire novel.
She had planned meticulously, manipulated situations with precision, and still managed to corner the so-called heroine while standing completely alone.
That alone proved one thing very clearly: people like Laurie were frighteningly intelligent. If only such intelligence had been used in the right direction, she might have achieved heights others wouldn’t reach even after tens of thousands of years.
Taking a slow, steady breath, Aurora pushed those thoughts aside and returned to her high school.
University entrance exams were approaching fast.
After reaching home, she immediately checked the exam schedule.
Two days. Just two days left. Without wasting any time, she immersed herself in revision, flipping pages, solving problems, and reorganizing concepts in her head until the world outside faded into the background.
When she finally finished, she leaned back, stretched her arms, and let out a quiet sigh.
’Almost done,’ she thought. ’I’ve nearly changed all of my siblings’ fates.’
The only problem was that her family seemed to have a strange talent for attracting trouble.
Aurora rubbed her temples, feeling a dull ache forming.
’At this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised if they suddenly get dragged into some other novel and cast as villains again.’
The thought was half-amused, half-exasperated.
Exhaustion crept in before she could resist. She lay down on her bed, the familiar scent of clean sheets surrounding her, and slowly drifted into sleep.
And once again... A vision appeared.
This time, the scene that unfolded before her eyes was so unexpected that Aurora froze.
Another novel. But this one was different.
In this story, her sister Olivia was the female lead. The male lead? Louis.
