Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System-Chapter 473: Plot Armour
The reason Aurora reacted so violently was simple: this time, she hadn’t merely glimpsed fragments of fate.
She had seen an entirely new novel unfold before her eyes.
In this version, the male lead was Nick. The female lead was Jules. The second female lead was Laurie. And the second male lead... was Lucas.
The moment the full storyline poured into her mind, a wave of intense disgust surged through her chest.
’How revolting.’
The plot itself was nauseating.
In the story, Nick relentlessly tortured the female lead, Jules, emotionally, mentally, and publicly.
When he was finally done breaking her, Jules escaped and attempted to end her own life. It was Lucas who found her, saved her, and slowly pieced her life back together, giving her warmth, stability, and a future.
Meanwhile, Nick drowned in grief over Laurie’s so-called death.
Through Jules’s mother, he gradually stumbled upon the truth. And once he learned it, instead of atoning quietly, he immediately began chasing Jules again. He tracked down her phone number, uncovered her address, and rushed there, only to be told that Jules had already died.
Three years later, fate conveniently reunited them.
Nick encountered Jules again, this time working at a different company. That was when he discovered the truth: Jules was alive, thriving, and about to marry Lucas. Their wedding was only a day away.
That was when the real sickness began.
Overcome by regret, Nick started seducing Jules relentlessly. He deliberately blurred boundaries, pushed her emotionally, and slowly manipulated her into betraying Lucas.
Guilt consumed Jules, and she decided to confess everything to Lucas.
But Nick stopped her. He gaslit her without mercy.
He whispered that if she told the truth, Lucas would see her as a traitor. That Lucas would despise her. That her honesty would destroy everything she had rebuilt.
Piece by piece, he shattered her resolve. In the end, Jules broke off the marriage.
She was then lured by Laurie to an abandoned location, where Laurie attempted to kill her. At the critical moment, Nick appeared and saved Jules, and just like that, she forgave him for every single act of abuse he had ever committed.
Aurora felt her stomach churn.
This was one of the most common plots she had ever seen... and also one of the most despicable.
As long as a man "sacrificed himself" at the end, all past cruelty was forgiven. Abuse was romanticized. Trauma was erased. Accountability was nonexistent.
Aurora clenched her jaw.
’If this plot dares to touch Jules...’
A sharp, dangerous glint flickered in her eyes.
’Then I’ll become the villainess.’
If Nick were the so-called male lead, then she would make sure he never reached his ending.
She inhaled deeply, steadied herself, and flipped open her laptop.
Her fingers flew across the keyboard.
Mia, seeing Aurora’s terrifying focus, instinctively took a step forward. However, Selena immediately reached out and stopped her, shaking her head slightly.
"When Aurora looks like that," Selena murmured, "she’s about to destroy someone’s life. It’s better to stay out of her way."
Meanwhile, Aurora had already uncovered everything surrounding Jules. A faint, cold smile curved her lips.
In the original novel, Laurie escaped unscathed until the very end, continuously plotting against Jules.
This time, that wouldn’t happen.
Without the slightest hesitation, Aurora leaked the truth that Maya was Laurie directly to Nick.
She wanted to see it.
She wanted to watch the male lead’s reaction when he discovered that the woman who had manipulated his entire life, his marriage, and his grief was still alive.
Immediately after, Aurora hacked into Nick’s house cameras.
It had already been two days since Nick begged Annie for Jules’s address. He had even ordered his subordinates to investigate, yet everything had failed. The frustration gnawed at him constantly.
He was drunk.
Empty bottles littered the room, and the air was thick with the sour stench of alcohol and regret.
Nick sat slumped on the couch, rubbing his temples. Out of habit, he muttered hoarsely. "Jules... hangover soup..."
Silence answered him. He froze.
He called her name again, louder this time, only to be met with nothing but the hum of the air conditioner.
Reality crashed down on him.
He laughed bitterly and murmured, "Now... there’s no one left to care for me."
Watching the scene unfold, Aurora frowned deeply, disgust twisting her expression.
’How self-righteous.’ She scoffed inwardly.
’These male leads don’t love anyone. They just want a free nanny, someone who cooks, cleans, nurses them, and never complains.’
At that moment, the maid approached with a bowl of hangover soup.
Nick took one sip and immediately spat it out, scowling. "Why does this taste nothing like Jules’s?"
The maid stiffened and replied nervously,
"Miss Jules gave me the recipe, but... It’s still different. I don’t know why. Maybe she just has natural talent."
Nick slumped back into the couch, eyes hollow. "No one compares to Jules..."
Aurora rolled her eyes so hard it almost hurt.
’Liar,’ she thought coldly. ’That maid is practicing weaponized incompetence. She just doesn’t want to be forced into cooking hangover soup for the rest of her life.’
Aurora then watched as Nick slowly pushed himself upright, his steps unsteady as he staggered toward the bedroom.
His movements were clumsy, weighed down by alcohol and exhaustion, the faint smell of liquor still clinging to him even through the screen.
The moment he reached the bedroom, he yanked open the wardrobe. Empty.
Not a single dress. Not a scarf. Not even a forgotten hanger.
For a second, his mind seemed to freeze. Then fury surged up like a tidal wave.
"Where are Jules’s clothes?" he shouted, his voice echoing harshly against the walls.
The maid rushed in, her footsteps hurried, her head lowered so far her chin nearly touched her chest.
"They’re... gone," she replied softly. "Miss Jules destroyed them all before she left."
Those words hit him like a physical blow.
Nick stumbled back and dropped onto the edge of the bed, his shoulders slumping as if someone had sucked all the strength out of his body. His fingers dug into the mattress, knuckles whitening.
Behind the screen, Aurora rolled her eyes so hard it almost hurt.
’Is this man blind?’ she thought irritably. ’Three whole months. He didn’t notice Jules disappearing, didn’t notice her wardrobe empty, didn’t notice anything.’
Or maybe he had noticed.
Maybe he had felt the emptiness long ago, but only now, only after learning the truth, did he finally dare to acknowledge the pain.
It was ridiculous. Aurora clenched her jaw, resisting the urge to slap him through the screen, and continued watching.
The recording showed Nick calling out Jules’s name for the most trivial things.
"Jules, bring my clothes."
"Jules, come here."
"Jules, take off my shoes."
Even when he lay on the bed, he casually lifted his feet as if expecting her to kneel and remove his socks.
Aurora’s expression darkened.
’This isn’t marriage,’ she thought coldly. ’This is mankeeping.’
For a brief moment, she even felt that men like him didn’t need a wife at all. They needed a full staff of maids, ones who never complained and never left.
Just then, Nick’s phone rang. Aurora straightened immediately, her attention sharpening.
Nick fumbled for the phone and answered it, his voice hoarse. On the other end, his assistant spoke quickly,
"Sir, we’ve tracked Jules’s address."
In an instant, Nick’s posture changed. His eyes lit up, his back straightening as if someone had injected life back into him. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Aurora’s fingers curled into a tight fist. ’Here it comes.’
She thought about the message she had already sent to Nick, but seeing how careless he was, she knew he wouldn’t check it in time. Male leads in cliché stories were always like this... blind until it was too late.
She tilted her head slightly and rolled her shoulders, muttering under her breath, "Let’s see how thick your plot armor really is."
Without hesitation, she started hacking Nick’s phone.
Meanwhile, Nick sat on the bed, still talking to his assistant. Suddenly, the other side fell silent.
"Hello?" he repeated, irritation creeping into his voice. "Hello?"
No response. Frowning, he pulled the phone away from his ear. A notification flashed across the screen.
You have received an important message. Please check your messages immediately.
Before Nick could tap anything, the screen went black.
Aurora stiffened. "What?" she muttered, disbelief flickering across her face.
The battery indicator, just moments ago at nearly ninety percent, had dropped to zero in an instant.
Nick stared at the dead screen, confused. He tapped it repeatedly, then frowned.
"Out of battery?" he murmured.
Thinking about that message, his heart started pounding faster.
’Could it be about Jules?’
Without a second thought, he plugged the phone into the charger.
The moment he set it down... Bang!
The phone exploded.
Nick leapt back in shock, eyes wide as he stared at the smoking remains on the bedside table.
Aurora pressed her palm against her forehead.
"What kind of ridiculous plot armor is this?" she muttered darkly.
She had never truly believed they were living inside a story. But witnessing something this absurd made even her doubt.
