Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System-Chapter 261: Broken Girl -1
Chapter 261: Chapter 261: Broken Girl -1
"When I was younger, I always thought I was destined to struggle. I wished for everything, but I got nothing. Then, as an adult, I almost lost my sister.
But when I got her back, I realized that maybe I wasn’t meant to struggle forever. Maybe there’s more to life than the bad stuff."
The girl turned to him, her eyes softening. "You really believe that, huh?"
Lucas chuckled lightly.
"Yeah, I do. I’m interning at a big company now, and it’s not much, but considering I wasn’t even sure I’d be able to afford college, I think I’ve come a long way. Things are still tough, but... I know now that if we keep fighting, things will get better."
The girl shook her head in disbelief. "You should be a motivational speaker," she said, her tone light, but there was an edge of respect in her voice.
Lucas chuckled. "Funny you say that, I’m trying it out as a side hustle."
The girl shook her head again and laughed. "You really are something else."
Lucas just smiled, feeling a warmth spreading inside him. "It’s funny. Sometimes, you don’t realize how strong you are until you have to keep fighting. But you get there."
Soon, they pulled up to the donut shop, and Lucas parked the car. He turned to the girl. "Alright, let’s go get you some donuts."
The girl looked at the display of donuts, and after a moment of thought, she pointed to a strawberry donut. "I’ll take the strawberry one."
Lucas raised an eyebrow. "Is that your usual choice?"
She nodded. "Yeah, it is."
"Well, how about trying something different?" Lucas suggested with a grin. "I’ll pick out one of my favorites."
He went ahead and bought two of his favorite donuts, and when the girl saw him, she rolled her eyes. "You’re trying to impose your choices on me."
Lucas just grinned. "If you don’t like it, I’ll buy you two strawberry donuts." fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm
The girl hesitated, her eyes fixed on him for a moment, then she nodded. "Fine. Let’s see if you’re right."
They sat down at a table, and Lucas handed her the donut he’d picked. The girl took a bite, and her eyes widened in surprise. She continued to eat, savoring the taste. "Wow, this is actually really good."
Lucas chuckled. "Told you."
She paused, and Lucas caught her staring at him. "You really know how to make a girl change her mind," she said, her tone quiet.
Lucas shrugged. "Sometimes, all it takes is a little sweetness."
As the girl finished her donut, she glanced at him again, then suddenly asked, "Do you have a girlfriend?"
Lucas shook his head. "Not really. I keep a distance from most girls."
The girl raised an eyebrow. "Why?"
Lucas looked at her, a soft smile on his face.
"You have something special about you, though. I believe you’ll be able to make a name for yourself. You just need to see it."
The girl was quiet for a moment, her expression unreadable. Then, she spoke softly, "Thank you."
Suddenly, she took out a key from her pocket and passed it to Lucas,
"Take this key and go to the suburbs, Road no. 14, Villa number 23. Under the Oak tree, there is a hidden box. Don’t circle around the tree, just dig at the spot opposite the window of the villa.
The box doesn’t contain anything valuable, but it has all the things that I treasure. Please do visit that place someday. I would love it."
Lucas paused. He didn’t move to take the keys and, inside, stared at the girl. She looked as if she were his age.
Suddenly, he remembered the note he had received from Aurora before she had gone into a coma.
"Brother, never mistreat a woman. Cherish if anyone gives you anything valuable. God knows what they are going through."
He looked at the girl before he softly asked,
"My last girlfriend was in middle school. I never dared to love anyone else. But honestly, you are very beautiful. Why don’t you become my girlfriend?"
Lucas didn’t know why... but he felt a strange kind of desperation to save the girl. He couldn’t bear to see her die.
The wheels of fate turned at that moment. And the ending Lucas was destined to have slowly faded.
The girl stared at Lucas in a daze before clenching her fist,
"I... am... I don’t have anything to offer."
"Liar." Lucas smiled, his beautiful set of white teeth was on display. "Your heart. You can offer me that."
The girl’s eyes widened at Lucas’s words. She opened her mouth, but no sound came out.
For a moment, it felt like the world had stopped spinning. Her fingers gripped the edge of the table tightly, like she was holding herself together.
"I... I don’t know what you mean," she finally whispered, looking down at her hands, which were trembling slightly.
Lucas leaned forward, his expression soft but determined.
"I mean, you’ve got something special. You have a heart. I can see it. You’re not just what others have made you out to be. You’re more than that. You don’t need to have anything else to offer. Your heart is enough."
The girl blinked rapidly, trying to hold back tears that threatened to spill.
"But... you don’t know me. You don’t know what I’ve done... or what’s happened to me."
Lucas gave a small, understanding nod.
"I don’t need to know everything. You don’t need to be perfect. Nobody is. We all have scars. But that doesn’t mean we can’t try to be better. You’ve been through a lot. But you’re still here. That means something."
She shook her head, her voice barely above a whisper.
"You are doing it out of pity."
Pity? Lucas asked himself that question before shaking his head.
He doesn’t feel pity.
Though he had a warm-hearted attitude towards everyone, he hardly pitied anyone other than his family. Maybe the reality was... he was selfish.
