Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System-Chapter 262: Pity?
Chapter 262: Chapter 262: Pity?
Selfish people like him don’t see the situation and can still end up liking a woman who was in such a desperate situation.
He shook his head and said, "It’s not pity." His voice was firm but gentle.
"I don’t feel sorry for you. I just see someone who’s been through a lot and still has a lot of fight left in her. If you really believe there’s nothing left, then... that’s just not true."
The girl looked up at him, her eyes wide and searching, as if she was trying to understand him.
"I... I don’t know what to say," she whispered.
Lucas chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck.
"You don’t have to say anything. You just need to give it a shot. Three months. That’s all I’m asking for. Three months to let me prove to you that life doesn’t have to end just because things are tough."
The girl was silent, her mind racing. She thought about it for a long moment, then finally nodded, albeit hesitantly.
"Three months. I’ll give it a shot. But that’s all I’m promising. After that... I don’t know."
Lucas asked the question he had been thinking about for a while. "So... do you have anywhere to stay?"
The girl’s face suddenly turned bright red, and she quickly looked away, her hands fidgeting nervously in her lap. "No," she admitted quietly. "I... I don’t have a place to live right now." frёeωebɳovel.com
Lucas looked at her for a moment, his mind working. He had the money saved up. A little too much, actually. He’d been saving for years, always putting a little away for his future, his family, and whatever came next.
"Well, I have some savings," he said after a brief pause.
"I’ll help you rent an apartment. You shouldn’t have to worry about that while you’re trying to get things back together."
The girl quickly shook her head, her face turning even redder.
"No, Lucas. I can’t let you do that. You’ve already done so much for me, I can’t—"
"Listen," Lucas interrupted, holding up a hand.
"You’re not a burden. You’re just... starting over. And we all need help sometimes. You can’t do everything by yourself."
She bit her lip, clearly torn.
"But... I don’t want to feel like I owe you something. I... I don’t want to make you feel like you have to take care of me."
Lucas smiled, soft and patient.
"You don’t owe me anything. Think of it as a start—a fresh start. A place to live while you get things together. And if you feel like you want to repay me someday, then you can. But right now, I just want you to have a safe place. Don’t worry about the rest."
She was silent for a long moment before she finally nodded. "Okay... I’ll accept it. But only because I don’t know where else to go right now."
"Good," Lucas said with a grin. "I’ll find a good place for you. Don’t worry about it."
He pulled out his phone and started looking through listings for apartments nearby. He found a place, not too far from the city center, a safe area with everything she might need. It was a bit more expensive than he had expected, but it was nice, secure, and perfect for a fresh start.
After finalizing the details, Lucas turned to her. "Okay, I’ve set it up. The rent is covered for the first few months. I’ll also make sure you have everything you need to get settled."
The girl opened her mouth to protest, but Lucas gently interrupted her. "You’re starting a new Chapter. Let me help make it easier."
Her eyes welled up again, but this time, it was with gratitude. She had been so used to depending on no one. To having no one to rely on, and now, here was someone who cared enough to help her.
"Thank you," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
"No need to thank me," Lucas said, shrugging. "What course are you interested in?"
This time, the girl thought for a while before saying, "I... I love game development."
Hearing those words, Lucas grinned. "That’s perfect," he said, his eyes lighting up.
"I actually have a course on game development that I’ve been studying myself. I could lend it to you. You can watch it over the next few months, learn, and maybe even start building something yourself."
The girl stared at him, her mouth slightly open in surprise. "Wait... really? You have a course for that?"
"Yeah, really," Lucas said, nodding. "It’s all online, and it covers everything from coding to design. It’ll give you a solid foundation. I know you can do it."
For a moment, she stayed silent, looking a little overwhelmed. Then, her shoulders slumped slightly. "But I don’t have a laptop. Or really anything to make it work."
Lucas blinked, and then, without a second thought, he pulled out his phone and started tapping away. He already knew what he had to do.
"Well, I think that’s an easy fix," he said, with a calm smile. "I’ll buy you a laptop. And a phone, too. You’ll need one to stay connected. I’ll also make sure you have Wi-Fi, so you won’t have to worry about anything."
The girl looked up at him, her eyes wide. She hadn’t expected him to say that at all. She wanted to protest, to say that she couldn’t accept it, but when she opened her mouth, the words didn’t come out. She just stood there in silence, blinking.
Lucas didn’t notice her hesitation. He was already on a roll.
He led her to the apartment, and when she saw it, she just stopped in her tracks.
It was everything she could have wanted. A little cozy space, with a small kitchen, a comfy living area, and a bedroom that looked like it could be her sanctuary.
She was speechless.
"Well?" Lucas asked, giving her a little grin. "What do you think?"
