Chapter 65: Ch 65: Escorting to Dress Making

Nero looked at the crown prince sitting in front of him with a face filled with disdain. He had no idea what prompted Prince Kaiden to come here so soon, but he could not help but comment on it.

"Kaiden, are you purposely making things more difficult for Shuu? Why would you show up here to escort him like this? It will only make things much worse between Shuu and Lady Sera."

Prince Kaiden’s smile did not waver.

"Sera is an understanding person, so she will understand why I came here to escort Shuu. There are too many forces who want to use him, so I should keep him close. Being beside me is the safest space for him to be."

Prince Kaiden explained, causing Nero to sigh.

He wanted to point out that the biggest danger to Shuu was the crown prince, but one look at Kaiden’s smitten face was enough to tell him that he was not going to listen.

"So, where is Shuu right now?"

Kaiden asked, and Nero pointed toward the stairs.

"He is changing clothes. He will be out in a minute or two."

Just as Nero finished speaking, Shuu emerged from his room and walked down the stairs. He looked much better, and his color was back in his face.

He still clutched his veil in his hands, but Prince Kaiden had a sour expression on his face when he looked at it.

"You don’t have to hide your features. You have a beautiful face, and I would like it if you showed it more."

Prince Kaiden was sincere, but Shuu shook his head.

"I do not feel comfortable showing myself in public. It will be best if I keep my face hidden."

Prince Kaiden did not argue anymore. Not that Nero had expected anything else from the love-struck prince who did not even realize his own feelings.

His expression also soured as he looked at the imperial carriage in front of his mansion.

’Really? Could you have made it any less obvious what your intentions toward Shuu were? I better keep an eye on things before they get any worse.’

Nero followed Shuu and Prince Kaiden into the carriage, and Prince Kaiden immediately pulled Shuu to his side and wrapped his arms around him.

Prince Kaiden’s smile was filled with relief as he held Shuu close, but Nero doubted the crown prince knew that.

They reached the royal palace in no time, and the guard let the carriage pass. When they got out, Prince Kaiden offered his hand to Shuu, which Shuu hesitated to take.

But "no" did not exist in Prince Kaiden’s dictionary, and he ended up grabbing Shuu and pulling him out.

Everyone immediately turned to look at them and talk, which made Shuu flinch. But Prince Kaiden seemed not to pay it any attention.

"Let’s buy a lot today. I wanted to take my time before as well, but we never had time to shop properly. Let’s do it all now."

Prince Kaiden tugged Shuu inside, not noticing all the stares he was getting.

They finally reached the chamber where Sera and the royal tailor were waiting for them, and he pushed the door open.

"Prince Kaiden, you are finally here. What do you think about this gold for me-"

Lady Sera’s happy expression twisted into an angry one for a second before her smile returned as she saw her fiancé tugging Shuu inside and getting him to sit.

"Becky, I want you to make a few clothes for Shuu. Make sure you prioritize him for tomorrow’s tea ceremony. It will be Shuu’s first public appearance, and I want him to look perfect for it."

Prince Kaiden’s words were absolute, but the royal tailor, who had known him and Sera since childhood, felt like it was her duty to interject.

"Unfortunately, I cannot do that. I have already accepted Lady Sera’s commission for her gown for tomorrow, so I will not have time to make another one. Perhaps your companion can choose another robe from me..."

The tailor took Lady Sera’s side as she rejected Prince Kaiden’s request.

She already did not like the person he had brought as Lady Sera’s replacement, and she was not going to stand for it.

Besides, she was Lady Sera’s favorite, so she doubted anything would happen to her anyway.

"I see. So you don’t want to help Shuu... I guess I have no choice-"

Becky smiled and gave Lady Sera a reassuring look.

"-you are fired. From today onwards, you will no longer be the imperial tailor, and you can be Sera’s personal tailor instead. I will get a new imperial tailor to make clothes for Shuu."

Prince Kaiden’s words were as clear as they were shocking.

Becky immediately felt her heart skip a beat before she panicked and looked at Lady Sera for help.

As much of an honor as it was to become the empress’s personal tailor, it was a much lower standing than being the imperial tailor.

Lady Sera also understood that this was a demotion and immediately interjected.

"Prince Kaiden, Becky is my favorite, and she has known us for a long time. You should not punish her for prioritizing an order I gave her a long time ago. That won’t be fair. Please take back your order."

Sera made sure her voice sounded as wronged as she could make it. Her eyes were wide and betrayed as she looked at Prince Kaiden.

Prince Kaiden immediately felt his heart move, but Shuu’s presence behind him made him immediately change his mind.

"I know Becky means a lot to you, and that is why I am giving her to you as your personal tailor. But an imperial tailor needs to be responsible for the imperial family’s honor. In this case, she needs to prioritize my companion, who is making his first appearance in high society. I am sure you understand that as well."

The more Prince Kaiden spoke, the more he was unable to hold himself back. Even he looked stunned at the words coming out of his mouth.

Sera looked beyond stunned; she looked betrayed.

"I... this is not fair. I am not going to talk to you until you take this decision back."

She threw a tantrum before she left the room. Becky followed after her, wondering if what was happening was real or an illusion.

Ultimately, Prince Kaiden was left alone in the room with Shuu, and he let out a tired sigh.

His heart hurt a little to hear Sera say she did not want to talk to him, but he could not bring himself to back down.
