Chapter 64: Ch 64: Why are you still Keeping Tabs?

"I...cannot find anything wrong. All the tests are coming back as alright. You might be experiencing some fatigue due to stress. Try to relax and stay out of stressful situations, and it should be fine."

The healer checked and rechecked his patient to make sure he had everything covered, but no matter how much he tried to look around, he could not find anything wrong with Shuu.

Had his patient been a woman, he might have suggested taking a pregnancy test, but there was no need to do that for a male.

Besides, his instincts told him not to get too close to the patient who refused to even show his face and lived with their emperor’s familiar. There could only be one person... and the healer would rather not end up on Lady Sera’s hit list.

"That is good to know. Now, if you would please keep quiet about this, it would be appreciated."

Nero told the healer, who was more than happy to keep things quiet.

"I understand. I will forget everything that happened today."

The healer agreed before he left the house. He looked glad to be running away, causing Nero to let out a sigh.

He turned toward Shuu, who sat back against the bed and closed his eyes.

"You should rest as much as you can. Unfortunately, we have a packed schedule for the next few days. We need to get you fitted for clothes for the tea party, and then there is the actual party..."

Nero sounded sorry when he told Shuu this. As much as he wanted to tell Shuu to just rest, he knew that it would only cause more social harm to him.

Shuu looked defeated, but he did not even try to fight Nero about this. He just nodded and closed his eyes.

The healer left Nero’s residence with a calm sigh. He remained tense until he reached the general street, and then he let out a sigh.

’I am safe. I don’t think anyone caught me...’

"Excuse me, but would you please come with me? Crown Prince Kaiden is calling for you."

’Darn it-! Did I actually make a mistake? I guess my life is over.’

The healer cursed in his mind, but he did not show his discomfort on his face and followed after the guard toward Prince Kaiden’s carriage, where the crown prince was waiting.

The door behind him shut as soon as he sat down, and his eyes fell on Prince Kaiden, who sat in front of him with his arms crossed.

’What should I do...? Should I apologize? But...maybe I should not...’

The healer felt conflicted and said nothing. So Prince Kaiden was the one who spoke up first.

"I heard that you went to Nero’s house. Was it to check up on Shuu? I need you to give me a full report of his condition."

Prince Kaiden’s words were clear, and the healer felt even more conflicted. But in the end, he felt like it would be for the best if he told the truth.

"Your companion is fine. His body is just under a lot of stress. He would be fine with a little rest and if he stays away from situations that can put him under pressure."

The healer explained, and he closed his eyes, not waiting to see the expression Prince Kaiden was making.

"I see... So there is nothing physically wrong with him?"

Prince Kaiden asked, and the healer nodded.

"As far as I could tell, there was nothing wrong with the patient. M-may I leave now?"

The healer asked, and Prince Kaiden nodded. The healer wasted no time in running away, leaving Prince Kaiden sitting behind with a sigh.

He was not even sure why he felt so bothered by all this, but the second he had heard from sources that Nero had called for a healer, his feet had moved on their own and he had found himself out of his office.

"Prince Kaiden, would you like to head to Sir Nero’s house?"

The guard who accompanied him asked, but the crown prince shook his head.

"There is no need to do that right now. I will come to pick up Shuu tomorrow. For now, I should head back and finish my work."

He told the guard, but his expression looked unwilling.

The guard noticed, but decided not to point out the obvious. He simply led the crown prince back to the imperial castle, where Prince Kaiden spent his time on the paperwork.

Lady Sera did not come to visit because she was too busy preparing for the first-ever tea party after the Demon King was sealed up.

She only decided to visit Prince Kaiden the next morning, wanting to ask him to accompany her to some appointment. But when she reached his office, he was gone.

"And... where has Prince Kaiden gone?"

She asked the guard, who looked guilty and turned his head away from her.

"Prince Kaiden has left for Sir Nero’s mansion. He told us that he wanted to accompany his companion to the Imperial Palace himself."

Lady Sera’s expression looked thunderous, but she quickly pulled it back into her neutral smile.

"I see. Prince Kaiden has such a big heart that he cannot leave his companion all alone. In that case, I better go and make sure he is not only welcomed but is able to relax as well."

Lady Sera had a small and peaceful smile on her face, but her real emotions had already appeared in her eyes.

The guards understood her panic well, so they did not think much of it.

Lady Sera returned to her room and kept her smile the entire time until she was alone. Once she was sure no one was around, she picked up her pillow and threw it on the floor.

"WHY-? Why is Prince Kaiden going out of his way to accompany that good-for-nothing when I am his destiny? I have the features as well as the bearing of nobility. I should be the only one he pays attention to..."

Sera raged and did her best to calm herself down. After all, she needed to show Prince Kaiden that she was the only one for him, and the clothing session was the best time to do so.
