[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 59: Ch : Your Seat is at the End
The food was delicious, but not a lot of it got consumed that evening. Lady Sera was too worried about losing Prince Kaiden to eat much, Prince Kaiden kept looking at Shuu, causing his appetite to get shot. As for the others, they were too invested in the tension to eat much.
On the other side of the table, the story was different.
Shuu tried to put food in his mouth, but the sudden sour flavour was too strong. His stomach felt unsettled and his head felt dizzy.
He just wanted to go back to his room and rest, but he knew that he needed to eat something.
"Is the food not to your liking? Are the flavors too strong? Then try this..."
Nero plated some mild food for Shuu that he was able to digest. But the sudden unwanted attention from the other side of the table was killing his appetite.
"I...think I am done. I cannot eat anymore. I would like to head back and rest now."
Shuu told Nero as he played with his food. His face was a little paler, and Nero was beginning to look worried as well.
"Alright, I get it. If you cannot eat anymore, then don’t force yourself. We can head back to our room for tonight. Tomorrow, we can leave for my mansion."
Nero told Shuu, and Shuu nodded and followed him back toward the front of the table.
People were already staring at them, but they glared even more as they came closer.
"Nero, Shuu, is something wrong? You both hardly even touched your platters."
Prince Kaiden’s words betrayed how much he was keeping an eye on these two to make sure they were alright.
Sera froze at the implications of Prince Kaiden’s words, but she did not say anything.
Nero noticed the sudden interest others were showing in him and Shuu, and he could feel that it was affecting Shuu.
"I think it is best if we leave now. Shuu is not feeling well and needs rest. The journey was hard on him, and he also lost a lot of blood not too long ago."
Nero reminded Prince Kaiden, and Prince Kaiden looked ready to head out with them and accompany them as well.
But before he could go, Sera grabbed his arm and held him in place. Her reaction was obvious- she did not want Prince Kaiden to leave her.
Prince Kaiden looked at her and then at the table before he realized that if he left now, he would put Sera in a difficult position.
But weirdly enough, he did not mind if it was for Shuu’s sake, and that thought worried him. He had never felt this way toward Sera before, and he was not sure if he liked it....
"Oh-! Are some of our guests leaving already? Then, allow me to show them to their room. You should stay and entertain your guests, elder brother." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Prince Yunn arrived with his fiancée as well. A happy smile bloomed on his face that made his opponents unhappy.
"Yunn...Alright. If you are willing to take responsibility for Shuu, then I will feel much more reassured. I don’t feel like I can leave his safety to most people."
Prince Kaiden’s words were a jolt to the people around the table who were already plotting to either get rid of Shuu or to use him.
No one showed any outward reaction to this call-out, but inside, they all flinched and felt their throats tighten.
Sera spoke up, realizing that if she did not do anything soon, then her standing would be destroyed.
"Of course. Anyone precious to you is precious to me as well, Kaiden. Once we are married, I will make sure your companion has the best luxury possible."
She assured, emphasizing on the marriage part. Her eyes were jealously looking at Shuu and telling him that the crown prince was hers.
There was a tense silence that was broken by Shuu suddenly placing a hand over his lips and hunching over. He looked sick, and Nero immediately helped him out.
"Come, I will show you to the bathroom. Follow me."
Prince Yunn acted immediately as well, guiding them both out.
However, Kaiden was not able to follow. Sera’s hand on his wrist felt like a shackle holding him back, and he sat back down.
"A-Anyway, your companion and your familiar make a good pairing. Are they going to get married after you, Prince Kaiden?"
A retainer asked, trying to lighten the mood, but the glare he got from the crown prince made him wish he would have rather not spoken.
’Tsk, I have no right to feel jealous or anything. Sera is sitting beside me, and I should focus on her...’
But Shuu was sick, and Prince Kaiden felt like it was his fault. Had he not pushed Shuu like he did, then maybe Shuu...
"Anyway, your birthday is coming up soon, right, Kaiden? How about we announce our engagement at that day’s banquet in two weeks? My father said that it’s the perfect day to show the world our love."
Lady Sera asked as she gestured toward her father, who was sitting beside her.
Prince Kaiden’s eyes narrowed as he looked at the corrupt elder.
Sera’s father was not a good person and especially not a good advisor. But the only reason he still had his seat and his head was because Sera loved him dearly.
He wanted to not do anything the elder had asked for, but Sera was looking at him, and her golden eyes looked so endearing...
Prince Kaiden’s mind suddenly flashed him a picture of a similar pair of golden eyes with much more innocence and a paler and more fragile face framed by shorter hair. That look made his heart skip a beat.
"Prince Kaiden?"
He came back at Sera’s words, and she looked worried for him. But even her presence did not make Prince Kaiden miss Shuu any less.
’I will visit Shuu once the dinner is finished. But for now, I cannot leave this place for Sera’s reputation.’
