[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 127: Ch : Aim for the Children

Lunch time was an awkward affair in the imperial palace. The table had been set and both Lady Elysia and Lady Canarie were invited.

They both arrived one after another, and headed toward the head seat and immediately took the seat beside the Emperor’s.

As per the customs, that seat was reserved for the Imperial family, but since there was no empress, it was free territory. Especially since the rumors about the current companion said that he was too lax and easy-going.

Servants began to gossip about this instantly.

"Hey, they took both seats. Isn’t that bad."

"Taking companion Shuu’s seat is one thing, but Prince Caelis as well?"

"Well, knowing the Emperor and Princess Yunn, they will have one of them stand up and change seats anyway. It will be a good way to be able to tell which direction the wind is blowing."

Both females ignored the servants and waited for the Emperor to enter.

They watched as Shuu entered first with Prince Caelis and Rin behind him. He looked at the table and decided to sit at the other end.

Before the servants could say anything, Emperor Kaiden entered and with one look at the table (and the excited companion candidates), he walked toward Shuu and sat beside him.

There was no question asked, or even talk held. One second he entered and the next, he was seated.

"W-What...that side...?"

"But...isn’t that breaking the customs? Is this some new kind of protest?"

The maids asked in a concerned voice as they watched Emperor Kaiden sitting at the table. The hostility flowing from the new companions was too heavy and the maids quickly got to work.

Finally, Lady Elysia decided she could not take it anymore and she stood up to walk toward the Emperor and Shuu.

She stooped in front of Shuu’s seat and gave Shuu her annoyed smile.

"Ex-companion Shuu, don’t you know the customs? It is not good for the Emperor’s image to have him sit here. Why don’t we-"

"Shuu, give me food. Give Rin as well."

Prince Caelis spoke up before Lady Elysia could finish speaking. His voice was much louder than hers as well, and the tense smile on Lady Elysia’s face froze.

But it quickly came back and she reached out to touch Prince Caelis instead.

"My prince, don’t be like that. I told you before, right? You can think of me as your mother-"

"Shuu-! No-! Don’t like her..."

Caelis was not shy, so it surprised Shuu when he decided to snuggle in Shuu’s arms and turn his face away from Lady Elysia.

The rejection was clear and the servants were starting to get the idea that the crown prince did not like her.

"Lady Elysia, please return to your seat. Your presence here is causing the crown prince unneeded stress."

Princess Danielle and Prince Yunn entered the hall as well. The tense air between them was evident but no one questioned her authority at the moment.

Lady Elysia wanted to protest, but one look around told her that it would not be a good idea. So she sighed before she went back to her seat.

On the other hand, Lady Canarie took her seat quietly by Rin’s side and in front of Shuu. the seating arrangement was - Emperor (middle), Caelis (right), Shuu(Right), Rin (Left) and then Lady Canarie (Left)

The new pair quickly joined them as well and Princess Danielle decided to comment on this arrangement.

"Looking at the table, it does look like a family. Don’t you think so as well, Prince Yunn?"

She commented but the prince noticed the dark look in his brother’s eyes. He knew he needed to do something if he wanted to protect his fiance.

"Bother does look like a family with Caelis, Shuu and Rin. But Lady Canarie does look like a younger sister...so I guess in a way..."

He deflected the situation and the flush on Lady Canarie’s face faded away and sorrow took its place.

She looked at the Emperor with a look filled with longing, but he did not even look at her once. She might be physically closer to the Emperor, but she knew she was not even in his attention span.

And yet, despite knowing all this, she could not look away. Her eyes continued to shift toward the alpha in front of her.

Everyone noticed. Even Shuu noticed and so did Rin. But no one called out to her which she was thankful for.

The lunch ended and still, no one called out to her. She decided to head back to her room all alone.

But she was not about to give up. Not when it seemed like her life finally had a purpose.

’The Emperor might be ignoring me now, but I am sure he also feels the tug of the mark. But I do need another strategy to focus on. Maybe I should try getting close to the kids as well.’

Lady Elysia was already trying, but Prince Caelis looked uninterested. That was why she decided to go after Rin instead.

He might not be Shuu’s son but he was surely the Emperor’s blood. And if she used him right, she might be able to get what she wanted. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

But first, she needed some maids to be on her side. That was the only way she would be able to move around freely.

"Lady Canarie, I am your assigned maid. Please let me know if you need anything."

A maid came to her just in time and Canarie recognized her as one that her king had sent with Princess Danielle when she came here.

This maid was likely loyal to the king and not to this kingdom, so she would be the perfect choice for helping her.

"Excuse me, but I would like your help for a few things. Do you think you have some time to hear me out?"

"Of course, my lady. Please let me know what you want. I will do my best to help you out."

Lady Canarie let out a smile at that and she finally started to hitch her plan together.
