This was troublesome. Emperor Kaiden had gotten a dangerous idea in his mind and, knowing him, he would see it fulfilled even if it was the last thing he ever did.

There was nothing Shuu or anyone else could say that would change his mind.

What was worse? Shuu felt like he was losing his mind and reason at the same time. He knew that letting Emperor Kaiden have his way was not the right thing to do... but his brain could not recall why it was so...

Maybe he should let the Emperor do what he wanted...

"Shuu...! Found you...!"

A body slammed into Shuu’s at full speed and he looked down, only to see Caelis’s familiar hair. Rin followed suit, his sweet eyes looking up at Shuu as well, but then the child looked behind and buried his face in Shuu’s legs.

That finally snapped Shuu out of his daze and he was able to focus on the two kids currently trying to grab his attention.

"Hey, this is not fair. I was here first. I want Shuu’s attention as well."

"No-! Shuu... mine..."

Emperor Kaiden joined the hug and wrapped his arms around Shuu’s middle to pull him closer to his chest.

Shuu felt restricted from all sides and he could not move much. But weirdly enough, it was not as bad as he thought it would be.

"I don’t think you should compete with kids, Kaiden. You are an emperor and you have an image to maintain."

Shuu reminded the Emperor, but Kaiden just pouted at him in that familiar way.

"But I am still the same person who fell for you. I don’t care about my image at all. All I care about is you."

Kaiden’s words were sincere and there was no hesitation when he spoke. He sounded self-assured and Shuu felt happy and flushed to hear him speaking.

"I see... so you are petty enough to compete with kids as well?"

Shuu asked without missing a beat and the Emperor played along with him.

"Of course. If I let my guard down, then these kids will steal you away from me for sure. I can’t let them steal my companion away from me."

Emperor Kaiden rubbed his face against Shuu’s neck and he shuddered in pleasure. The Emperor sure was getting bolder and bolder by the second...

Shuu had a feeling it would be treading into dangerous territory. But strangely enough, he did not care as much as he should.

In fact, a part of him wanted to encourage the alpha and allow him to do whatever he wanted to. But common sense stopped Shuu from acting on his emotions.

"Tsk."

The soft voice reached Shuu’s ears and he turned to look in the direction it came from.

His eyes met Lady Elysia’s and Lady Canarie’s, and he held their gaze.

Lady Canarie looked away instantly due to embarrassment, but Lady Elysia held his gaze without looking away from him. It was a challenge, daring him to hold on as best as he could.

Shuu tensed up just a little and his instincts started to rise. Thankfully, Princess Danielle decided to grab the two and take them away before anything serious could happen. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

"This will be your room, Lady Elysia. Please do venture out as you please, but if you lose your head, then it will not be my problem."

Princess Danielle told the annoyed female and received a glaring look back before she left the room.

She almost wanted to lock the door behind her and keep the lady locked inside, but a part of her told her that it would not help in any way.

So she decided to drop Lady Elysia in her room so that she no longer had to worry about it. She had more important things to worry about anyway, like the person her father had sent here.

Princess Danielle took Lady Canarie back to her own assigned room and closed the door behind her.

"Sister Canarie, allow me to formally welcome you to the imperial castle. Please tell me if you need anything."

Princess Danielle bowed in front of her older cousin, who had a blush and a dazed look on her face. Princess Danielle doubted that her cousin had heard a word she had said to her.

But that did not deter her from straightening her back and giving her cousin a calm look.

"I will take my leave now. You can look around for some time more if you would like. Someone will come to get you when it is time for lunch..."

"D-Danielle, wait-! A-About the Emperor... Is he always like this? I mean, not that there is anything wrong with that. He’s still as handsome and good-looking as ever. But he looked like a different person in the hallway and I-"

Princess Danielle had not known her cousin for long before she had been sent as a diplomatic alliance partner for Prince Yunn, but she knew her long enough to recognize the look on her face.

Lady Canarie had fallen for the Emperor at first sight.

"Nothing good will come out of harboring feelings for the Emperor. You and that other girl might have gotten the companion mark, but Emperor Kaiden’s mark has not faded from his current partner’s skin. I doubt you both will have a chance until it does fade."

Princess Danielle told her cousin and watched as Lady Canarie’s face fell at her words.

"I-I see... this is rather troubling. B-But you are not sure about it either, right? That means I have a chance, right? Sister, you will help me out, right?"

Lady Canarie suddenly grabbed Princess Danielle’s hand and asked this. Her eyes looked at the Princess for help.

The sudden change in tone took Princess Danielle aback and she looked at the love-struck female in front of her.

Her father’s letter came to her mind and Princess Danielle felt her throat clog up.

"I... will see what I can do. But there might not be a lot I will be able to do. As I told Father, Emperor Kaiden does not listen to me often-"

"That’s fine. You just need to make sure I meet him a few times. I will take care of everything else. I promise."
