I Sell Bottled Water for Gold in Another World!-Chapter 249: Girls’ Night Out
Three days had gone by since the chaos of Riya's sudden visit to Lotus Crown Villa.
Life had resumed its uneasy yet surprisingly efficient status quo between the three of them.
The night before, Riya had indeed called as promised and talked for almost two hours.
Alex had no idea what they talked about. He asked Lucy about it later on. But all she did was smile with her iconic smile and tell him it was a private conversation between sisters.
He did not dare ask Riya because she already told him that if he ever dared ask what they talked about, he would regret it for the rest of his life.
So, when Riya knocked on the door of the villa that afternoon with a look on her face that seemed like she already made up her mind and did not even need his opinion on it, Alex could only stand and watch her.
"I'm taking Lucy out tonight."
And with that, Riya walked straight past him and into the living room without even bothering to be invited in.
"Take? You're taking Lucy out tonight?"
"Yes. Taking. Lucy. Out." Riya set her handbag on the sofa and turned around to face him.
"Khushi is having her birthday party tonight at Zenith. She invited me too, and I'm taking Lucy out tonight."
"Zenith?" Alex raised his eyebrow in confusion. "That is a very luxurious club in that locality."
"Yes." Riya tilted her head slightly and looked at him. "Do you have a problem with me taking your girlfriend out for a girls' night out?"
"She has never been to a club before," Alex said hesitantly. "She has barely been in this world for a week."
"Which is precisely why we should give her a girls' night out," Riya said matter-of-factly. "She cannot learn this world by sticking to you all the time, Alex. There are things that will make sense to her when she is with other women."
Alex could not argue with that logic and he knew it.
"Okay, fine," Alex said at last. "Just don't forget what happened the last time…"
Riya interrupted him, not wanting him to remind her of the previous time. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"We will be back by midnight."
------
Lucy came out of the guest room twenty minutes later wearing one of the new outfits that had been purchased at the Phoenix Mall, a deep burgundy-colored mini dress that fit her body perfectly.
She smoothed the fabric of her dress nervously as she came out to stand in the hallway.
Lucy felt clearly uncomfortable with the amount of leg that was exposed in the dress. "Is this appropriate for where we are going? It feels very short."
Riya looked her up and down before nodding once in approval.
"It is more than appropriate," Riya said. "You look perfect."
------------
Zenith was precisely what its name implied.
The epitome of luxurious clubs in every sense.
The club was on the top three floors of one of the newer skyscrapers in South Mumbai, and its floor-to-ceiling windows offered a view of the city that was so breathtaking that even a seasoned resident of the city could pause and stare at its beauty.
On a Saturday night, with Khushi's birthday party in full swing on the VIP floor, it was operating at its absolute loudest and most spectacular.
Lucy stepped out of the cab and looked up at the towering building, her expression a combination of wonder and trepidation.
"It's so tall."
"Come on," Riya said, "It is nothing, slowly I will take you to places that are going to be much bigger and grander than these.
They passed through the security check, and then they took the lift up to the VIP floor.
Khushi saw them the moment they emerged onto the VIP floor.
"RIYA!" she screamed across the room for all the other girls in the club to hear.
She strode across the floor in four strides, grabbed Riya by the arms, and hugged her fiercely.
"You came," Khushi breathed into Riya's shoulder. "I was thinking you'd bail on me like last month."
"I told you I was coming," Riya replied, holding Khushi in return. "Happy birthday, Khushi."
Khushi drew back, looking radiant, and then saw Lucy standing just behind Riya.
For a second, Khushi stared at Lucy. Her face was genuinely striking enough to make Khushi forget what she had been about to say.
"And who is this?"
Lucy gave a pleasant smile and a graceful nod of her moment, and Khushi at once recognized that she is a lady from a prominent upbringing.
"Lucy," Khushi repeated, clearly delighted.
"What a beautiful name!" Khushi grabbed Lucy's hand without warning and started pulling her towards the booth. "Come on, I'll introduce you to everyone!"
Lucy looked at Khushi in surprise as she let herself be pulled towards the booth.
She glanced back at Riya for a second before Khushi started pulling her towards the booth where a group of girls were seated, each with a drink in hand and all chatting and laughing amongst themselves.
The girls stopped their conversation as Khushi reached the booth.
Lucy looked at the girls as she closed the distance towards the booth.
The girl at the end of the booth, closest to the edge of the booth, wore a gold backless dress and had her hair tied into a knot at the back of her head. She had a sharp face and looked beautiful.
Next to her sat a girl with a deep blue slip dress and big eyes. The girl looked at Lucy with a smile as Lucy looked at her.
Next to this girl sat a girl with a rust co-ord set, a cropped blazer over a matching skirt.
At the very end of the booth sat a girl with a simple black dress with long sleeves and a fitted dress.
Khushi was already reaching for her glass. "Since we are doing it right, I will introduce you to them. She is Meghna on the left, Doctor Sana on the second seat, MBA done Sneha on the third seat, and last is Meera. She is a very famous actress. You might have seen her on the TV."
"And at last, I am Khushi. It's my birthday. That's all you need to know."
The first to speak was a girl named Meghna, the girl in the gold dress.
"Riya's cousin?" She looked between Lucy and Riya with open curiosity. "You two look nothing alike."
"Distant side of the family," Riya said smoothly.
They slowly got themselves seated properly.
