[BL] Challenge: 100 Baby in Fantasy World-Chapter 296: Grandmother
Syeila had told Langga to come home several times already. She wanted to introduce him to the young women she hoped to match him with—
and she also wanted to confirm her growing suspicion about Langga’s relationship with one of his students, Gara.
"Duchess, Gara is male human. He can’t give an heir to the Alterian House," Nino, Syeila’s right-hand man, reminded her.
"You’re wrong." Syeila shook her head firmly. "Gara is an alchemy genius. He helped Chief Ambar to create the fertility elixir. One day, he might even make a breakthrough that allows human males to conceive children without a woman."
"That sounds impossible, Duchess." Nino shook his head.
"Nothing is impossible. If Gara and Langga truly love each other, of course they’d want a child of their own— and Gara would definitely find a way to make it happen."
Syeila imagined it with a wide smile, completely unfazed by Nino’s skepticism.
Not long after, Eshaan House publicly revealed Gara’s identity.
Syeila was over the moon when she learned that Gara was half-druid, half-human. It means he could conceive.
"Nino, look! Langga will give me an heir soon. Good thing I kept supporting him and Gara." Her tone matched that of a child boasting about her victory.
Nino was rendered speechless. When it came to matters of lineage this family had never been normal.
Unfortunately, Langga was nearly impossible to drag home. There were so many things Syeila wanted to teach her only son. Most of it about how to treat a partner.
She thought she wouldn’t see him for months, at least not until the academy’s long break.
So when Langga suddenly invited her to meet him at an Alrova Shop, she didn’t expect much.
But it wasn’t just any Alrova Shop.
It was the Esapura City branch, Esalavya Duchy— the one that hadn’t even officially opened yet.
Syeila immediately assumed Langga wanted to introduce Gara to her.
She had already begun planning their wedding in her head: the venue, the wedding dress, the dowry, the guest list.
But when she arrived at the quiet shop, what she saw instead was her son... with three adorable babies.
"Langga, did you kidnap someone else’s children?!" Syeila rushed toward them.
"I know I’ve pressured you too much about marriage, but you cannot just kidnap cute babies who... look like you... and look like me?"
Her steps came to an abrupt halt.
She stared at the three babies, who were staring right back.
A silver-haired baby boy with red eyes and pale skin, the spitting image of young Langga, smiled at her.
Beside him, a baby girl with dark red hair and black eyes —who looked exactly like Syeila— watched curiously.
And the last one, an adorable baby with black hair and blue eyes, peeked at her timidly.
"Mother, please sit down," Langga said calmly.
Syeila snapped back to her senses and moved to the chair beside Langga, and right next to the most timid baby’s high chair.
The table was round and small, with each seat only an arm’s length apart.
Syeila had to restrain herself from reaching out to pat the baby’s soft black hair. The baby’s blue eyes shimmered anxiously as he clutched the small white squirrel on his tray, as if seeking protection.
Without meaning to, a smile bloomed on her lips.
"Langga, you used to be like him, so timid. If I left for even a moment, you’d burst into tears. You always begged to come along wherever I went. You were so cute, I couldn’t help but take you everywhere. I don’t know how you grew up to be so cold."
Langga almost let out a snort— if not for the three babies in front of him, all overly sensitive to emotions.
He’d heard his mother talk about this countless times. He still refused to believe he had ever been that much of a crybaby.
But looking at Arion... maybe it wasn’t impossible.
Meanwhile, Syeila’s gaze moved between her son and the smiley baby boy beside him.
To her, it felt like she was seeing baby Langga all over again.
The difference was that this baby loved smiling and was extremely friendly with strangers, while little Langga had been a timid mess.
Beside that, this baby boy also reminded her of some bad guy, especially his red eyes. Still, she didn’t have a bad feeling seeing this little baby.
Before Syeila could even admire the only baby girl who looked just like her despite the small horn on her head —almost as if Langga was teasing her by bringing a baby version of herself— Langga said bluntly,
"They’re my children. Your grandchildren, Mother."
Syeila’s head snapped toward him like a broken automaton. "Don’t just pick random babies who happen to look like us and—" 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"They’re my children. Mine and Gara’s," Langga cut her off.
Syeila’s eyes went perfectly round.
Just hearing Gara’s name was enough for her to fully believe that the triplets in front of her were indeed her grandchildren.
"I—I have grandchildren!" She cheered, then quickly covered her mouth, afraid she’d make them cry with the loud sound.
Langga then explained what had happened in Falopo Town about two years ago.
He also told her that Gara was now engaged to someone else.
Syeila leaned in and whispered, "Well, they’re only engaged, not married. There’s still a chance—"
"Ahem!" Langga fake-coughed sharply.
Gara was upstairs. If he heard this and got upset, his mother would regret it deeply.
"Don’t say things like that, Mother. Gara was already kind enough to let you meet the triplets."
"Yes, yes."
But Syeila wasn’t listening anymore. She went to each baby, trying to pick them up though only Aldwin allowed himself to be lifted.
"If I’d known I’d meet my grandchildren today, I would’ve brought gifts."
She frowned, clearly dissatisfied. "This won’t do."
She opened her crystal ring to contact Nino.
"Buy out every baby outfit in the noble boutiques, and find toys for children between ten months and one year old."
"Duchess, I advise you not to rush. Young Master Langga might not necessarily marry—"
"Silence! My grandchildren do not have the time for your endless chatter."
Before Nino could answer, Syeila closed the crystal ring.
Her fierce expression melted into something sweet as she looked at the babies again.
"Oh right, where is Gara? Even if you’re not in a relationship, Mother still needs to meet him— to thank him, and also to apologize for everything."
She started looking around.
"We’ll meet another time. It’s late. Mother, you should head home." Langga stood up, clearly ushering her out.
"Wait! I have to call Nino so he can bring the servants."
"What for, Mother?"
"To help me carry the triplets, of course," Syeila replied matter-of-factly.
Langga exhaled deeply. "The triplets are not coming with us. They’re staying with Gara."
"What?!" Syeila shot to her feet, refusing to accept it.
Langg tried to explain, "These triplets have druid scent. They can be tracked and harmed by druids—"
"Langga, you should know you also carry devil scent. I’ve faced plenty of protective-barrier issues before," Syeila said seriously.
"I know, but right now—"
"Fine." Syeila backed down quickly.
She knew better than anyone that arguing with Langga would lead nowhere. Gara was the key.
Then, she looked at the triplets with a longing softness in her eyes.
"Please tell Gara that Mother would like to meet him. And tell him this meeting won’t burden him."
Langga was a little surprised. His mother didn’t usually give up this easily. When it came to heirs, she could be harder than stone.
But he was also grateful. He knew very well that Gara wasn’t someone who could be pushed by force.
Langga let Syeila spend a bit more time playing with the triplets before finally sending her home.
On her way out, she kept glancing back, walking at a snail’s pace.
If Langga hadn’t physically nudged her out, she might have stayed inside the shop forever.
Once Syeila had stepped out, Gara came down from the second floor.
Arion immediately reached out when he spotted his daddy, asking to be held.
Gara picked him up, eyes drifting toward Syeila standing by her carriage, through the shop’s glass wall. This shop was protected by a barrier, so Syeila couldn’t notice Gara’s presence inside.
She seemed to be negotiating with Langga, trying to squeeze out more time, but Langga firmly ushered her into the carriage.
’I never expected Lady Syeila went through something so similar... she also had to hide Langga.’
Gara couldn’t help feeling a sense of kinship with her. Without realizing it, his impression of Syeila improved.
Langga returned to the shop once he confirmed the carriage had departed.
"Thank you for letting my mother meet the triplets," he said. He still couldn’t believe Gara had allowed it.
Gara nodded, he didn’t mind.
After that, Langga didn’t bring up his mother again, nor the things she had said.
Though, Gara had assumed he would try to appeal for the triplets.
’Maybe he really isn’t as bad as I thought.
Hopefully this isn’t part of his shady plan.’
