Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 560 - 481 Twenty Updates
Jin Qixin arrived early. Other than Mrs. Jing Ya and Prince Charles, no one else noticed. He listened with his stethoscope, then stood upright and said, "Your lungs are fine. Do you want a faster recovery or a slower one?"
Mrs. Jing Ya gave him a light slap. "The older you get, the less serious you are. If there’s an illness, it must be treated. You need to make sure Rui’er recovers quickly."
Jin Qixin chuckled. "Auntie Jing Ya, Airui hasn’t been sick in years. Why not take this opportunity to let him rest a few days?"
"Let’s treat him first. If he wants to rest, he can take leave. It’s too uncomfortable to drag it out like this!" Mrs. Jing Ya looked at her grandson. "What do you think?"
Tong Airui smiled and nodded. "Listen to Grandma. After I’m cured, I’ll pretend to be sick."
Prince Charles laughed. "Once you’re well, you definitely won’t be able to stay still!"
"This time, I’m committed to being a patient." Tong Airui glanced at Jin Qixin. "Hook me up to an IV. If I’m not feeling well, my dad won’t let me look after the baby."
"Alright, up to you." Jin Qixin started mixing saline with the medication.
Mrs. Jing Ya patted her grandson’s head. "You were fine last night. How did you suddenly catch a cold?"
Yi Luowa pouted, "This old gentleman here couldn’t sleep at night, so he went to take a cold shower. Managed to torment himself into a cold, and even when feeling miserable, he didn’t tell me. I only found out because he was so feverish, he woke me up."
"Why would you take a cold shower in the dead of winter?" Mrs. Jing Ya glared at her grandson in disapproval. "Don’t think you can squander your health just because you’re young. When you get older, all the problems will catch up to you. Your grandpa suffered an injury when he was young—now, whenever it gets cold, he’s in unbearable pain."
"Got it, Grandma. I’ll be more careful in the future." Tong Airui glanced at Yi Luowa. "Go help Grandpa and Grandma downstairs. Don’t let me pass this cold on to you."
Mrs. Jing Ya huffed. "So now you’re saying I talk too much, huh?!"
"Wouldn’t dare." Tong Airui grinned.
Yi Luowa chuckled and supported Mrs. Jing Ya. "Grandma, let’s not go downstairs. How about I help you to the sofa over there to sit? Grandpa, you too. It’s farther away from Tong Airui, so you won’t catch his cold."
Yi Luowa helped Grandpa and Grandma to sit down, then turned back to see that Jin Qixin had already hung up the IV bag. She quickly walked over.
"Honey, when Uncle Jin pokes the needle in, take a few pictures for me. Later, we can use them to request leave."
"You’re really going to ask for leave?" Yi Luowa pulled out her phone, smiling.
"Yep."
Yi Luowa glanced at him, still not sure what he was up to.
Jin Qixin secured the IV needle, observed for a while, and then, seeing everything was fine, left with his medicine kit.
Mrs. Jing Ya sat for a while longer, and seeing that her grandson wasn’t seriously ill, went downstairs with Prince Charles.
Once everyone had left, Yi Luowa perched on the edge of the bed. "Honey, are you feeling unwell anywhere else?"
"Where did you get the idea that I’m not feeling well?"
"If you’re fine, why would you think of taking leave?"
"I’m doing it for you. Ever since you had the baby, you’ve been stuck between home and camp without a break. I want to take you out to relax a bit."
Yi Luowa pressed her lips together. "I’m perfectly content with my current life. You don’t need to overly consider me in everything. Yesterday’s matter didn’t bother me at all."
Tong Airui held her hand tightly. "Sometimes, things still weigh on your heart. You and Nancy were born on the same day, in the same month, and the same year. The three of you even have similar circumstances. They’ve both found their mothers, but you’re the only one still searching..."
"It does feel a little unfair, but I’m good at healing myself. The discomfort only lasts a few minutes," Yi Luowa said with a smile, looking at him. "Why is it that I can’t hide anything from you?"
"Because I’m your husband, the person who knows you best in this world. When you were lying on your stomach last night groaning about leg pain, that was when your heart felt the heaviest."
"It was just a fleeting moment. I suddenly felt this world was too unfair. But as soon as your hand touched my face, I figured it out. Nine times out of ten, life doesn’t go as one wishes. I already have an almost-perfect husband. If I’m still not satisfied, I might just get smitten by divine punishment!"
"Almost perfect?" Tong Airui wasn’t quite content with the phrase.
Yi Luowa shot him a glance. "You just need to meddle less and have a bigger heart, then you’d be perfect!"
"Ahem..." A soft cough came from outside the door.
They both turned to look towards the door.
"Rui’er, are you still feeling unwell?" Tong Yao pushed the door open.
"Not anymore. Once this IV is done, I’ll get out of bed."
Tong Yao took a step forward, but Long Che quickly pulled her back. "Colds are contagious. Don’t go in. If you catch it and pass it to me, I’ll catch a cold too, and then I won’t be able to play with Sangyu."
Tong Airui’s mouth twitched. Was this really his father?
"Stay in your room and rest properly. Don’t wander around, and especially don’t go into the baby room! I’ll have someone bring breakfast up for the two of you in a bit." Long Che finished giving his instructions and led his wife away.
Yi Luowa and Tong Airui exchanged a glance. She couldn’t help but laugh first. "Why don’t we just go back to work, and let’s not even come back tonight. We can stay over there instead."
"If you’re willing to leave the baby, I’ll take you to the moon for a few days."
"Didn’t you hear what Dad said? ’I’ll have someone bring breakfast up for the two of you.’ I’ve been stripped of my baby privileges too."
"Then let’s leave as soon as we finish breakfast. Let’s take the RV out and roam wherever we like..."
"Bro, I heard from Mom that you’re sick?" Tong Aino pushed the door open and walked in.
Yi Luowa quickly got up and stopped him. "Don’t let your brother infect you. Otherwise, we’ll have two more people in the house put under quarantine."
"Don’t exaggerate! I’m not afraid; I’m plenty healthy!"
Tong Aino grinned at his brother lying in bed. "How did you catch a cold out of nowhere? I bet your body’s been hollowed out over these two years. If you don’t take better care of yourself, these small problems will pile up into big ones in the future. If you’re not into taking medicine, there’s another way—be celibate. Ever since I embraced celibacy, my back doesn’t ache, and my legs don’t hurt anymore."
Tong Airui pointed at him. "Honey, get this person out of here. Just looking at him makes my eyes hurt."
Yi Luowa laughed as she pushed Tong Aino out the door.
Tong Aino pouted. "Nowadays, you only have eyes for my sister-in-law. You find everyone else an eyesore! I came to see how you’re doing out of genuine concern, but you’re kicking me out..."
"Concern? You just want me to join you in becoming a monk!"
Yi Luowa used all her strength to finally push Tong Aino out the door.
Just as Tong Aino steadied himself, Connie emerged from a different room across the hall. "Sister-in-law, is my brother okay?"
"He’s fine. Just a minor cold."
Connie let out a relieved sigh. "Good. Sister-in-law, come help me decide which outfit looks better on me today."
Yi Luowa froze for a moment.
Connie winked at her.
Catching on, Yi Luowa let go of Tong Aino and quickly walked over to Connie.
Tong Aino wandered up after them.
Connie promptly shut the door, leaving him outside alone.
"You two are definitely up to no good!" Tong Aino kicked the door before turning back toward his brother’s room.
Connie covered her mouth to suppress her laughter, then pulled Yi Luowa into the bathroom.
Yi Luowa asked with a smile, "What’s going on? Why so secretive?"
"You’ve got experience. Help me take a look at this." Connie gestured toward a pregnancy test sitting near the toilet.
Yi Luowa frowned and studied it for a while, hesitant to declare certainty. "The line is very faint—barely visible. Connie, have you had your period this month?"
"No, that’s why I bought the pregnancy test. But tell me, is there a line or not?"
"There should be. Without it, the test wouldn’t show even this faintly." Yi Luowa turned to look at the slightly anxious Connie with a teasing smile. "Haha! Connie, you’re finally pregnant! This is amazing news!"
Connie’s brow furrowed slightly. "But it’s so uncertain. My heart is all over the place."
"Why don’t we wait until your brother’s IV is done, and I’ll go with you to the hospital? This faint line may just mean it’s really early." Yi Luowa lightly nudged Connie with a grin. "Dear Connie, if Tong Lao Wu finds out he’s been ’snipped’ for no reason, what do you think he’ll say?"
"Snipped for no reason?" Connie clearly didn’t follow. She instinctively asked, "What do you mean?"
Yi Luowa laughed. "You got pregnant just before his operation. Hahaha! Lao Qi is going to be so jealous!"
Connie laughed along. "Sister-in-law, let’s keep this between us for now. Don’t tell Tong Airui or anyone else in the family. Let’s confirm first—no mistakes allowed."
"Alright. I’ll go with you to the hospital in a bit." Yi Luowa was about to leave when she remembered Tong Airui, so she said, "But I’ll stay flexible today. Just let me know when you’re ready."
Connie nodded, though her nerves didn’t fully settle as her thoughts continued to race for a while in the bathroom before she finally emerged.
