Chapter 65: Chapter 65 - Tests And Church Girl

After a few other students passed, Grant and Robert also finished up in their respective rings.Grant was the first one to finish, sitting down beside Logan with a large smirk.

"That was fun," he said, smirking. "But it was a little too easy."

Logan nodded, having seen Grant win easily against a much shorter boy due to his clear strength advantage.

"Your fight seemed to be going pretty equally," he said, turning to Logan. "How come you lost at the end?"

"He used a wrestling technique I wasn’t familiar with," Logan said calmly, not bothered by his loss. "I think the instructor called it Kani Basami."

"Never heard of it," Grant said, shaking his head.

"I don’t know why anyone would still learn those kinds of techniques anyway," he continued. "Most mana creatures in dungeons are a lot stronger than us. Trying to wrestle a monster like that is suicide."

"That’s also what I thought," Logan nodded.

’Still... I really am missing some of the fundamentals,’ he admitted to himself.

Robert joined them a few minutes later, also having lost to his opponent—albeit just barely.

Eventually, all students from both groups were done.

"Alright, both groups can change places now!" Professor Li shouted across the room, silencing everyone’s mumbling.

A moment later, the murmuring resumed as students began switching places.

’Now this might be interesting,’ Logan thought, eyeing the devices. ’I’ve never really measured my strength, speed, or reaction time before.’

Logan wandered over to one of the measuring devices, being one of the first yet again, while Grant and Robert sat down on nearby benches.

’This one measures strength,’ Logan thought, glancing at the machine. ’Pretty sure I just have to punch it as hard as I can.’

One of the instructors walked over to the measuring devices, gesturing for everyone to take a step back.

"For those of you who are unfamiliar with this machine," the muscular male instructor started, "I’ll give one example for each of the machines."

Walking over to the machine Logan stood in front of, he turned to the group again.

"This here tests your strength," he said, pulling back his arm. "Just punch the red circle as hard as you can."

The instructor punched the machine with control, causing it to only show a modest amount of force.

"Your reading will be written down, and you’ll be evaluated on your progression later on," he said, continuing on to the next machine.

"This one here is speed," he said. "Just get from start to finish as fast as you can."

Not bothering to show an example of that one, he continued to the small corridor at the end of the training room, revealing multiple smaller rooms.

"Finally, the reaction speed test," he said, tapping the wall with his hand. "Small orbs will be fired at you and it’s your task to dodge them."

Heading inside, the instructor started the test, dodging a few small orbs coming from the wall in front of him.

After dodging a couple of shots, he headed out, smiling.

"Simple enough, isn’t it?" the instructor said. "Now, the first students may begin."

Having explained what was needed, the instructor walked back to the smaller sparring rings.

’Simple enough indeed,’ Logan thought, heading back to the strength machine.

The machine showed Logan’s student ID and name, before allowing him three punches.

Pulling back his right arm, Logan took one step forward and swung his fist towards the red circle.

A soft bang echoed as his fist hit dead center.

"732 kg force," the display showed. "Try again."

’Kilograms, huh,’ Logan thought, glancing at the machine. ’I guess it makes sense when the school is located in the Alps.’

Pulling back his arm once again, Logan exhaled before punching the circle as hard as he could.

"773 kg force," the display showed.

’Good,’ Logan thought, nodding.

The average untrained person can muster up to 140 kg of force. The average trained gray-core can muster up to 400 kg of force before their breakthrough, while an average well-trained bronze rank could use up to 800 kg.

’Most bronze cores hit their absolute limit at 1,000 - 1,100 kg of force,’ Logan thought, relatively satisfied with his score. ’Grant’s probably sitting at 950, and Robert somewhere around 800.’

’The phoenix fire pushed my body close to someone who’s trained as a Bronze Core for a while,’ he thought, heading to the speed test. ’Now I’ve got two months to push it even further.’

After waiting in line for a minute, it was Logan’s turn to run 20 meters as fast as possible.

Lowering his body slightly, he prepared himself to dash forward as fast as he could.

Then, he took off.

A few seconds passed before Logan came to a stop at the end of the 20 meters.

’2.8 seconds,’ Logan noted, glancing at the end results. ’Not too bad, just slightly above an early Bronze Core.’

Giving a small nod, he continued on to the final test.

’Now this is more fun,’ Logan thought, waiting for the person inside to finish.

After a few minutes, the door unlocked.

Glancing inside, Logan was left stunned.

A girl in white robes stood with her back to him, her long silver hair flowing down before it began to disappear beneath the veil she was adjusting into place. fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm

She turned around and glanced at Logan, her smirk barely visible before it also disappeared behind the fabric as she finished covering herself.

’That’s church girl,’ Logan thought, caught off guard. ’I’m pretty sure I wasn’t supposed to see that?’

He had only ever seen her smirk or make a small smile after she intentionally annoyed him in some way.

As she walked his way, Logan frowned, not sure what to say.

"Don’t disappoint me now," the church girl said, her smile barely visible as she walked past him. "You still owe me a fight after all."

"What?" Logan asked, having no clue what the hell she was talking about.

But she ignored him and kept walking.

"What the hell is she talking about?" Logan said, going through his memories.

He thought about her words for a moment, then simply shrugged and shook his head.

"Forget it. I’m not even going to bother figuring it out," Logan mumbled, shaking his head. "There’s always something with her."
