Billionaire Legacy: I Became Overpowered With My Spending System-Chapter 109 - The War Starts
Chapter 109: Chapter 109 - The War Starts
The meeting continued on for hours as Logan made plans against the pressure from the Alvarez family and Holy Cross Guild.
At first, they were all shocked by Logan’s switch and the contract he’d managed to get from the Imperial Church. But as he continued talking, respect began to grow in everyone’s hearts.
What mattered even more was that he listened quietly to their suggestions—and actually took them seriously.
After the meeting ended, Logan bid everyone goodbye and returned to his room with Silas by his side.
’’I would say that went quite well,’’ Logan said, a broad smile on his face.
Silas nodded. ’’But are you really sure about attacking the Alvarez family first?’’ he asked, observing Logan carefully.
’’Yes,’’ Logan said, unlocking the door to his room. ’’We won’t let them comfortably sit there and process all the Holy Cross Guild’s resources.’’
Locking eyes with Silas, he continued.
’’It’s not a matter of if they attack us, but when. That’s why it’s better to go on the offensive from the start.’’
Silas gave a quiet nod, a smile growing on his face.
’’Thank you for bringing me back,’’ Logan said, smiling. With that, he bid him goodnight and closed the door behind him.
Once his door was locked, Logan crashed on his couch in the lounge area.
’Now everything has been settled and prepared,’ he thought, staring at the ceiling. ’It took a while, but now I’m confident I can trust everyone and that we can take on the Alvarez family.’
As he lay on his back, he turned on a nearby hologram projector and let it float above him.
’Grant and the others sent me messages?’ he thought, raising an eyebrow as he clicked on them.
Reading through the messages, he couldn’t help but be surprised.
’They’ll be doing training missions in dungeons and towns dealing with low-level water creature invasions,’ he thought, nodding slowly. ’That’s a great way for them to gain experience and to help out ordinary people.’
Logan let out a long breath as he wished them luck and closed the hologram.
’’They’ll all be getting a lot stronger and combat experience,’’ he muttered with mixed feelings. ’’All while I’m stuck behind a desk...’’
Closing his eyes, he pinched the bridge of his nose.
’I need to gain more actual combat experience too,’ he thought. ’But how?’
’The second I step outside the building alone, I’ll get killed.’
Sure, he knew he was strong with his current techniques and affinities. But battle wasn’t just strength—it required tactics and instincts that could only be trained when risking one’s life.
’’If I ever need to fight a stronger opponent, instincts and tactics can be the deciding factor whether I survive.’’
Tapping his fingers on the couch below him, he sunk into thought.
’I need to figure out a way to mask my identity,’ he thought. ’In that way, I can travel where I want and could even visit my fast food business in person.’
But as he fell deep into thought about different methods, he couldn’t think of anything that masked his identity fully.
His eyes fell on his hologram projector. ’If there’s anyone who could help, it would be Edric.’
Before long, Logan called Edric directly.
A few seconds passed before Edric’s voice came through. ’’Good evening, Logan. Is everything alright?’’
Logan sat up straight. ’’Yeah, it’s nothing urgent... but I need a favor.’’
’’Of course,’’ Edric nodded. ’’What do you need?’’
Logan hesitated for a moment, before continuing. ’’Do you know of a way for me to move around without getting recognized?’’
’’Without getting recognized?’’ Edric repeated, raising an eyebrow.
’’Yes,’’ Logan gave a small nod. ’’My face, voice, body—everything masked.’’
Silence fell through the line as the gears in Edric’s head spun. Then, he spoke carefully. ’’What are you planning to do?’’
’’I want to enter dungeons, train my combat capabilities, and check on the fast food businesses—without dying in the process.’’
Edric remained silent for a few seconds before giving a quiet nod. ’’I see...’’ he said.
’’Are you serious about this?’’ Edric continued slowly. ’’Even if you manage to mask your identity, you need to be aware of how dangerous this will be.’’
’’You’ve made a lot of enemies, and if you slip up even once, no one will be there in time to help you.’’
Logan stayed silent for a few seconds, understanding the consequences full well.
’’I know,’’ he started. ’’But I have to do this.’’
This time, Edric fell silent for a few seconds before responding.
’’I’ll look into it,’’ he said hesitantly. ’’But if there’s no proper way to mask your identity, you are not leaving.’’
A smile grew on Logan’s face as he thanked Edric.
Edric gave him a small nod before the call disconnected.
’That’s good,’ he thought, laying back down on his couch. ’Edric needs to look into it, which is perfect since I’m unable to leave right now anyway.’
Logan wanted to be there as they launched their first attacks on the Alvarez family’s businesses, in case something went wrong there.
’We’ll start by buying out their smaller subsidiaries and suppliers in three days,’ he thought, recalling the meeting. ’After that, we’ll send mercenaries to disrupt their businesses around their dungeons.’
’All while we are digging for any scandal that could change public perception of them.’
He had no intention of holding back. The Alvarez family would throw everything at him—legal, illegal, and outright vile.
’So why shouldn’t we do the same?’ he thought, a wide smirk spreading across his face. ’The sooner this conflict is over, the better.’
Shaking off his thoughts, Logan decided to continue with what he wanted to do.
’’There’s still a few hours left,’’ he mumbled, closing his eyes. ’’I should spend that time cultivating.’’
Three days flew by in which Logan and his board members fully prepared for the first attacks against the Alvarez family.
’’Is everything ready?’’ Logan asked, his hands behind his back.
’’Yes,’’ Silas nodded, enlarging a hologram. ’’Just give the word and everything will start.’’
