Chapter 110: Chapter 110 - Minor Victory

Exhaling slowly, Logan turned around.

He glanced at each of the board members inside the room, his expression firm.

’’Trigger everything,’’ he said coldly.

The board members looked at each other before giving a small nod.

Each of them pulled up their own holograms, typing rapidly as messages were sent out everywhere.

Logan looked at them with a satisfied expression.

’The first phase has begun,’ he thought, a small smile growing on his face. ’Let’s see how they respond to this.’

It didn’t take long before they got the first responses back from the Alvarez family’s suppliers.

Some outright declined, but just under half were interested—wanting to hear more and see if they could push the price higher.

’’Good,’’ Logan nodded, looking through a few mails himself. ’’Remember everyone, we can raise the prices of the bids by at most thirty percent.’’

’With this, we can temporarily cripple their supply chain.’

Sure, they would get resources from the Holy Cross Guild. But even they have a limit on how much they can supply without crippling their main operations in Europe.

’’The Alvarez family noticed!’’ one of the board members called out after seeing one of the suppliers who had shown interest suddenly back out.

More confirmations echoed through the room, making it clear the Alvarez family had caught on—and they weren’t letting their suppliers go without a fight.

Logan turned his head to Silas.

’’Have the mercenaries already arrived?’’

’’Some are on site but a few are still on their way,’’ Silas nodded.

Looking back at the other board members, Logan got everyone’s attention.

’’Make sure every one of their suppliers knows they can contact us back anytime!’’ he said. ’’Once they notice the pattern of bad news surrounding the Alvarez family, they might jump ship.’’

As the day progressed, more plans were set in motion as the entire room felt tense.

’The Alvarez family is completely focused on protecting their grounds right now,’ Logan thought, overseeing a report. ’That gives me the perfect chance to lock down our own suppliers with better offers.’

Thanks to the financial support the Imperial Church had sent through while they were still preparing their resources, Logan had a lot of room to move.

’I’ll have to thank Livia later,’ he thought, smiling. ’Without her this would’ve no doubt been impossible.’

Before long, they received messages that the Alvarez family had launched counterattacks.

’’They are indeed trying to buy out our suppliers now,’’ Logan muttered as he skimmed through the reports. ’’But it doesn’t look like they’ve had much luck.’’

He could only imagine their surprise after they figured out that he’d already preemptively offered his suppliers more money to stay.

’Naturally, there’s also some suppliers on our side which jumped ship,’ he thought, shaking his head. ’But that was inevitable.’

Even when the bad news hit, he had to keep the main goal in mind.

’’Once the Alvarez family is completely gone, we’ll control the entire American market.’’

By then, his company might be worth twice as much as it was now.

For the rest of the day, the situation continued to escalate. Offers, denials, and counter-bids flew through the inbox left and right.

But as the hours passed by, the situation gradually began to calm down.

’Now it’s a war of attrition,’ Logan thought, standing up. ’Whoever backs out first, loses.’

Neither side was anywhere near ready to make any decisive blows.

"They didn’t resist as much as I thought they would," Silas said. "But hey, a small win on day one is still a win."

Logan nodded slowly, glancing at the smiling Silas.

They had won over a significant amount of the Alvarez family’s suppliers, whereas they only managed to buy out a few of their suppliers for much higher prices.

’’It was an impressive first day,’’ Logan said, a smile growing on his face. ’’But we have to be worried about their retribution.’’

’’They’ve played dirty before and I don’t doubt that they’ll try to do so again.’’

Logan stepped away from the tense room with the board members still working hard, the door shutting behind him.

Pulling up his watch, he saw a call from Edric coming through.

’’Good evening, Edric,’’ Logan said, picking up the call.

’’Good evening, Logan,’’ Edric said, before quickly continuing. ’’I’ve found a way to make what you asked for possible.’’

Logan’s smile grew broader as excitement flashed through his eyes.’’How?’’ he asked, heading back to his room.

’’I came across a special full-body suit,’’ Edric said calmly. ’’It can project a thick hologram around your face and change your build using extra padding.’’

’’And your voice?’’

He held up another small device beside him.

’’Can easily be changed with this small device.’’

Hearing about the items, Logan felt amazed, before he narrowed his eyes.

’’You said you came across the suit... that doesn’t exactly sound legal.’’

Edric chuckled slightly. ’’That’s because it isn’t,’’ he admitted. ’’I got it through a contact who deals in the black market.’’

’’Black market?’’ Logan repeated, frowning. ’’Are you sure it’s safe to use then?’’

’’As safe as something illegal can be,’’ Edric replied. ’’I already had someone look at it and he didn’t find any trackers, backdoors, or other nonsense.’’

Logan fell silent for a moment, before giving a quiet nod.

’If someone traces this back to us...’ he thought. ’No, it’s a risk worth taking.’

Before he fully digested the information, Edric spoke up cautiously.

’’Just so you know, it isn’t perfect.’’

’’What do you mean?’’ Logan asked, raising an eyebrow.

’’Major checkpoints, like those at S-rank gates, can detect these kinds of devices, and if an S or A-rank hunter focuses on you intently for a longer period of time, they can see past the software.’’

Logan nodded slowly, having already made up his mind.

’’It’s better than nothing,’’ he said quietly. "I’ll test it tomorrow."

"Just don’t do anything reckless," Edric warned, his tone turning serious. "You might look like someone else, but you’re still carrying the same risks. If you die, all this was for nothing."

"Don’t worry,’’ Logan reassured Edric, his smile fading slightly. ’’I won’t do anything that gets me killed."

The call ended.

’Just a few more days before I can leave,’ he thought, glancing at the city outside through his windows. ’I already have a city in mind that has been under siege by water creatures for months.’

He fell quiet for a moment.

’If I want to stand on the same level as SSS-ranks in the future... I need to multitask between the company and growing stronger.’
