Beneath the Red Dragon-Chapter 257 - 95: Ethereal Monarch (2)
The two Giant Dragons chatted and laughed as they returned to the camp, but Karon's keen eyes immediately noticed the new arrival in the camp.
The white-haired old mage Lapus, this Saint-tier Great Mage, though initially a transaction partner with Karon, did not hold back any secrets and instead stuffed all the knowledge he had into Karon's mind.
Thus, Karon had a certain fondness for the white-haired old mage Lapus, at least in terms of fairness in their transaction. It was also because of the white-haired old mage that Karon gave up the idea of messing with the Squinting Mage Hughes, allowing Hughes to escape unscathed.
Even now, Karon's sub-brain still contains much Magic Knowledge yet to be digested. Even with Karon's effort and abundant energy, it would take a long time to fully comprehend a complete and comprehensive set of Magic Knowledge.
Because Karon is unlike other mages; the vast majority of mages specialize in only one school of magic, merely brushing against others, as these mages, unlike Karon, do not have the abundant energy and long lifespan.
But Karon tries to understand the entire world as comprehensively as possible through Magic Knowledge, gathering scattered truths from various branches of magic.
Now Karon has an understanding of most of the basic Magic Knowledge, and he can clearly see the primary magical discipline of the old mage Lapus.
The exploration of Destiny Fragments is the domain where Prophetic Mages excel. Although the white-haired old mage Lapus is merely a Saint-tier Mage, it's enough for him to glimpse some aspects of the Destiny Fragments.
In a large Material Plane like Aikania, where the Laws are perfected, Saint-tier represents what Legends are in small to medium-sized planes. This is a difference Karon discovered on his journey through plane exploration.
Only large Prime Material Planes with perfected Laws can birth Legends, like in the Greenfield Forest's small to medium Material Worlds, the most they can support is a Saint-tier existence.
Existences such as the Tree of Life and World Tree aren't included in this.
And that adult Green Dragon, it's clearly the leader of the Green Dragons who once nested in the Greenfield Forest, as mentioned by the World Tree Soul Natis, a Giant Dragon Race migrated from outside, not indigenous Giant Dragons.
After peering into the mystery of his own fate through that mystical spring water, Karon couldn't help but wonder if the white-haired old mage Lapus would offer him a different perspective.
"Oh, Karon, that Juvenile Dragon of the past has grown into a big fellow now; your growth rate has exceeded my imagination,"
The white-haired old mage Lapus, as always, liked to squint as he looked at others. The white-haired mage raised his head, genuine envy on his face.
"You truly possess extraordinary talent, enviable indeed; your current power already surprises me. Luckily, I captured that glimpse of inspiration back then, discovering you, this gem."
"So, it was that bit of inspiration back then that made Hughes appear in the Dragon Nest and take the Dragon Group back?" Karon acutely sensed a problem from the mage's words, which arose from his understanding of Lapus' main magical focus.
Though things seemed normal back then, Karon understood the mystery and power of the Prophetic Mages. Such individuals could always achieve certain purposes through unexpected, clever arrangements.
Dangerous thoughts swirled in Karon's mind, evident in the dangerous gleam in his eyes. He was always particularly sensitive in this regard after glimpsing the twisted destiny.
Lapus shook his head and said, "My abilities aren't yet that powerful, but the moment you entered the Imperial, I saw some things, like sudden fragments of inspiration. Karon, you needn't doubt this. If I had foreseen it beforehand, I wouldn't choose such a foolish method."
"Did you discover something from that magical spring water? Alas, I never peer into my own destiny, for it would impede me. Otherwise, I might have tried it too." Lapus expressed with regret.
The glow faded from Karon's eyes, which not only signified some of his dangerous thoughts but also the sign of his abilities activating. Through his telepathy, he discovered the consistency between Lapus' words and his inner thoughts, which also signified that Lapus was telling the truth.
"Peering into one's own destiny does not matter; if it's a good outcome, then it's like having a good mood. If it's a bad outcome, it's merely a reminder to be more cautious. The branches of destiny are infinite; who can determine which is the ultimate destiny!"
Karon spoke in a flat tone. He had long since firmed up his will, curious to see just how many divisions the hand manipulating destiny behind the scenes had.
"Not to be superstitious of destiny's paths, Karon, your mindset is quite commendable, but encountering too much can inevitably lead to influence. That's why I never peer into my own destiny; for a Prophet Mage, that equates to the beginning of a tragedy."
The white-haired mage chuckled, "Let's go, and see what the ancient ruins hold. Our agreement, as before, includes sharing all knowledge with you."
Karon nodded and walked together with the white-haired mage towards the unearthed azure tower.
