Remarriage Failed Again Today-Chapter 144: If Not for Aaron Wyatt, She Probably Wouldn’t Be Alive Now
She thought back to the look she’d exchanged with Annabelle Linton.
Leona Grant had clearly seen the joy and eagerness in her eyes.
Annabelle Linton was usually such a cold person, yet the heavy, repressed emotion in her limpid eyes was impossible to conceal.
Her gaze was no longer cold and distant, no longer ethereal. It finally held a fiery warmth.
A faint pang of unease pricked at Leona Grant’s heart.
An overwhelming sense of foreboding washed over her.
She didn’t know why.
For some reason, she felt her life would never be this peaceful again.
It was as if something important was about to slip away from her, and also as if something was about to threaten her.
It was a confusing mix of emotions, but she couldn’t put her finger on why.
...
Annabelle Linton stood at the airport arrivals gate, her eyes scanning crowd after crowd of people, searching for Aaron Wyatt. She couldn’t contain her excitement.
’Aaron Wyatt, Aaron Wyatt...’
Aaron Wyatt, the man she’d shared an apartment with for four whole years, was here.
All told, they had known each other for six years.
In her past life, she had gone to study abroad in Albion, all because Leona Grant had gone there with Vivian Yates.
Back then, Leona Grant had been kidnapped by the mafia, and Annabelle had taken a bullet for her, leaving her in a coma for a year.
When she woke up, she learned that Leona Grant had taken Vivian Yates to study in Albion.
She was heartbroken, but she didn’t give up. More than anything, she wanted to see her.
However, she didn’t have a single penny, no savings at all. She also knew William Chapman wouldn’t pay for her to study abroad, but she never thought about giving up.
She thought, ’As long as I can watch Leona Grant from afar every day, I’ll be content.’
But that wish was ultimately shattered.
With a month to go before the semester started, she missed Leona Grant so much that she spent nearly all her savings to go to Albion early.
She secretly went to find Leona Grant, but Leona was staying in a high-end hotel, and Annabelle couldn’t see her.
She had no money, so she had to live under a bridge, surviving on bread day after day. She also found a job in a bar.
But just the thought of being able to see her made her happy.
One rainy night, it was as cold as winter under the bridge, and the mosquitoes were relentless. She was bitten so badly that she paced back and forth, hugging her arms.
Then, a large group of girls appeared, accusing her of seducing their boyfriends and threatening to beat her up.
’Thinking about it now, they must have been people Vivian Yates hired.’
And then she was swarmed and beaten by the large group of girls.
Just then, Vivian Yates appeared, desperately shielding her.
At that time, she had been so incredibly touched.
Then, hopelessly outnumbered, the two of them were knocked into the river by the girls.
The moment the girls saw trouble, every last one of them scattered as fast as they could.
Vivian Yates couldn’t swim, so Annabelle tried to save her, but her own swimming skills weren’t much better.
Just then, Leona Grant appeared.
She rescued Vivian Yates, leaving Annabelle alone in the water without a second glance.
Vivian Yates was already unconscious when she was pulled from the water.
Leona Grant assumed Annabelle was the one who had pushed Vivian Yates into the water.
With no one to vouch for her, she had no way to defend herself.
Leona Grant angrily carried Vivian Yates to the hospital, not even glancing back.
Her blood felt like it was turning to ice. It took every ounce of her strength to finally crawl out of the river.
She was in agony, sobbing, completely hysterical.
She felt completely hopeless about her life. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Covered in injuries, she stumbled into the rain and was hit by a car.
When she woke up, it was Aaron Wyatt who had saved her.
He was the one who led her out of the darkness and back to a proper, productive life, giving her a place to live, food to eat, and her human dignity.
She thought, ’If it hadn’t been for Aaron Wyatt, I probably wouldn’t have survived to this day.’
