Chapter 40: 0040 No Entry_1

Aside from online affairs, a considerable number of paparazzi tried every possible means to infiltrate Haran Village, eager to scoop information about Lucy Wood’s younger sister in advance.

Some media journalists had their channels and thus learned that Lucy Wood’s sister was residing in Haran Village.

When they drove over, they were stopped on the perimeter of Haran Village.

The media’s vehicles swarmed in; with the new road yet to open, there was only one small path to enter Haran Village, causing a jam right at the entrance.

Five tall young men, standing ramrod straight, stopped every passing vehicle.

The presence of these five was uniform, their stature identical, their carriage disciplined—there wasn’t a hint of sloppiness, clearly trained specially.

They wore black vests, paired with camouflage pants and military boots—attire anybody could wear but the problem was the men’s formidable aura, especially the pressure when they questioned you, which instantly burdened the reporters with an inexplicable stress.

“Where are you from?”

It was a casual question, to which the driver swallowed nervously, “From another province, can’t we enter Haran Village now?”

The man questioning them appeared to be the leader of the group, his eyes slightly slanted upwards, giving them a narrow look, with a small mole dotting near the nose on his right eye, lending a distinctive flavor to his face.

All in all, he was attractive.

With an air of nonchalance, he looked up at the driver, “Show me your ID.”

The driver asked, “Who are you guys? By what right do you ask for our ID?”

The man indifferently responded, “Haran Village is currently off-limits to outsiders. To enter, you’d need a special pass, as ordered from above.”

Driver: “…”

Ellen Young agreed to shoot a program, and once it was publicized, word got out.

Someone would report to the superiors. People who constantly watch the entertainment industry were not few, understanding its operations well. Knowing someone would indeed come to harass Ellen Young in advance, they arranged for people to directly intercept them.

In essence, journalists weren’t allowed inside, but this didn’t impede normal people’s travel.

But the journalists were clueless; seeing themselves stopped, they were baffled.

They looked at each other in dismay.

None of them knew about this sudden regulation upon arrival.

Some suspected these men were falsely claiming orders, but the leading man simply raised a hand, “If you have any concerns, feel free to ask around.”

Seeing their demeanor, the reporters already knew these were not ordinary men, their straight postures like javelins. Besides the talking man, the other four stood solemnly silent, and they vaguely sensed something serious, yet they didn’t understand why Haran Village had suddenly closed off.

Without the supposed pass and no acquaintances to call on, the group of reporters had no choice but to head back, now waiting in the county town or the city to which Haran Village belonged for news.

With enough people, news would inevitably come out eventually.

What they didn’t expect was that this wait would last until the day the program aired, and that was when the official news came.

The men stationed outside the village reported to Ellen Young in the evening. The man in the lead saw Ellen Young and curved his lips lightly, “Miss Young, under orders from my superiors, I’ve come to ensure your safety.”

When Ellen Young saw him, she merely nodded her head.

This person was also an acquaintance, coming from a prominent family, here to gain experience. She didn’t know why he was assigned as her bodyguard.

Of course, she didn’t mind these details.
