A few days before the program was to air, the new road was finally officially open.
Lucy Wood, carrying loads of large and small bags and several suitcases, arrived at Haran Village with the program crew ahead of time.
The crew needed to come over early to adjust the various camera positions and find suitable spots to place cameras, ensuring they could live broadcast Lucy Wood and Ellen Young’s daily life in full.
When Lucy Wood arrived in the village, she was somewhat surprised to find that, in just a short period of time, Haran Village had changed.
The ground, which had been covered with random junk, was now paved with asphalt roads, and on both sides of the road were the villagers’ houses that had been cleaned and tidied, giving the place a refreshingly clean appearance.
It was like an idyllic place in the countryside.
However, compared to the program crew’s first visit, they couldn’t appreciate this change; in their eyes, it was just a remote village.
Next to the houses were vast expanses of farmland, and from time to time, one could see villagers walking their sheep.
Moreover, they arrived via the new road this time, not the winding mountain roads like before, which meant they could come straight in, and the transport was much more convenient.
Lucy Wood asked Felicia Frost in surprise, “It’s only been a couple of weeks, hasn’t it?”
Felicia Frost said, “You should see your sister’s place; it’s changed even more.”
The program crew still needed to coordinate with the village locals, and the village chief came out to warmly welcome them. Meanwhile, Lucy Wood and her assistant pushed their suitcases towards Ellen Young’s courtyard, located behind the mountain.
By the time she arrived, she was truly taken aback.
In just one short month, the dilapidated tile-roofed houses had vanished without a trace, still showing the external appearance of tile-roofed eaves, but now surrounded by a fence wrapped in flowering vines. Through the gaps, the interior courtyard revealed a pleasing scene of a small bridge over water.
Pond, arch bridge, grape trellis, and the cultivated fields on both sides, along with a swing set and pavilion next to them—everything was suffused with a natural, rustic charm, resembling a peaceful haven.
It was nothing like what they had imagined.
“Lucy Wood, is this your sister’s home?”
Her assistant Nana exclaimed, “This environment is quite nice.”
It was the epitome of the pastoral lifestyle people yearn for, nothing like what was described online.
Lucy Wood was also surprised; she blinked and said, “I don’t know, she must have redecorated.”
When she had come before, she had thought that Ellen Young was living in such a rundown place, but now it seemed that maybe Ellen hadn’t had time to fix it up since her return.
Felicia Frost, pushing the suitcase, said, “It seems she’s at home; knock on the door.”
The gate in the fence was locked, although the fence gate looked quite different from a typical iron gate and didn’t appear very intimidating.
Lucy Wood called out loudly, “Ellen!”
A white figure slowly emerged from inside the house.
Dressed in a T-shirt dress with a Khaki bear design, Ellen Young’s appearance was casual as she came out. Seeing Lucy Wood with the luggage, she showed no surprise and went over to open the gate.
When Lucy Wood saw her, she noticed the four-leaf clover bracelet on her wrist that she had given her; this made Lucy Wood much happier, and her face lit up with joy: “I’ve come.”
Ellen Young opened the gate for her, her gaze lightly resting on Felicia Frost and her assistant: “I can’t accommodate so many people here.”
Felicia Frost felt her look was quite intimidating and said with a nervous laugh, “We won’t be staying here; we’ll stay elsewhere in the village.”
