Becoming a Monster-Chapter 79: You’re Finally Awake?
Chapter 79: Chapter 79: You’re Finally Awake?
"Fuck I’m stuck!"
"Me too! Shit, AYE! One of you get a knife or something already and get us out!"
The stuck duo lost all decorum as they shouted for their companions to free them. But the rest of the guards didn’t know what to do. They didn’t have weapons like the students did who were able to get their equipment from the chest. Were they supposed to go over to help and get stuck too?
"Help us, dammit!" the other stuck guard yelled, his voice rising in panic as he struggled against the sticky webbing.
"Hey, give me your sword." one of the guards demanded, eyeing Ishii’s weapon, which was notably more impressive than the others. However, the response he received was far from what he expected.
"A swordsman never gives up their sword. Use somebody else’s," Ishii replied coldly, shedding his usual innocent and agreeable demeanor. The discipline and pride of being a swordsman were deeply ingrained in him, non-negotiable regardless of the circumstances.
In this lawless world, arrogance and pride were sharper than ever. The guard who had demanded Ishii’s sword now aimed his rifle at Ishii’s face, his eyes cold, his courage bolstered by the weapon in his hands. The guard’s comrades began to do the same.
The students hadn’t come this far by backing down. Few would risk themselves for Ishii’s sake, but this wasn’t just about him. They understood that if they didn’t stand with Ishii now, the guards would see them as weak, easy to dominate. Surrendering the sword would be the first step toward total subjugation. This was a power play, clear and simple.
The scene did not go as the guards had anticipated.
"Ahhhh!"
The initial guard aiming his gun toward Ishii screamed in agony. Amidst the chaos, the gun flew into the air on its own, held firmly by a peculiar object. The metallic clang as it landed drew everyone’s attention, but it was the spurt of blood from the guard’s arm that truly captured their focus, revealing that it had been cleanly severed. Only those with keen agility and combat instincts could immediately discern the cause amidst the chaos. Ishi’s reaction was far quicker than the average human, while his samurai’s warrior code embodied his soul even more as he braved through life and death with his sword.
At the threat to his life, questions became irrelevant. With a deft flick of his wrist, Ishii severed the guard’s wrist before anyone could react.
"You bastards! Fi-" Another guard was about to initiate a confrontation with the students, but before he could utter another word, a small knife appeared at his throat, pressing into his jugular. Blood trickled down the blade’s edge, the guard didn’t dare to budge, his fear amplified the threat of his death. Although Alicia only made use of one knife; her limit was five, but it was enough to spook the rest of the group.
As tensions escalated, The students braced for battle, though they weren’t all seeking bloodshed like Alicia and Ishii appeared to be. Their relationship was....complicated.
With no voice of reason among the guards, especially when faced with kids younger than them and armed with guns, it fell upon one of the students to deescalate the situation. However, before anyone could intervene, something else unexpected occurred.
"Ggrrrr!"
A creature, far more menacing than their potential conflict, intervened with a guttural growl. All attention shifted from each other towards the source of the growling, emanating from behind the webs.
Initially, only the growling pierced the air, but soon the shadows within the webs began to stir, revealing a dark, ominous figure lurking behind them. The two guards stood frozen in shock, their attention fixated on the webs where the growling resonated the loudest.
Although Arachne had done a good job covering the door, there were still gaps within the webs that allowed visibility. With fear driving their curiosity, the guards attempted to look through the gaps, only to be met with an even darker shroud of darkness. Unbeknownst, the guards had yet to realize that the enveloping shadow was only Fenrirs’ massive form blocking their view.
The realization dawned on the guards as they felt the hot breath of the creature bearing down on them, followed by the piercing gaze of its predatory eye. Through the gaps in the webs, they glimpsed something red as Fenrir licked its lips, further sending shivers down their spines at the sight of its deadly fangs.
Intense gunfire*
Despite being immobilized, the guards relentlessly fired at the beast in sheer terror. They experienced a deeper fear than when facing the horrible zombie from before; at least that monster killed them quickly. The thought of facing death at the hands of the beast behind the door filled them with bone-chilling dread. Ignoring any concern about alerting other threats, they continued to shoot with desperation.
As onlookers gaped in shock at the chaotic scene unfolding before them, the other guards hesitated to intervene after witnessing the frenzied gunfire. However, the relentless barrage spurred them into action, cautiously inching closer in an attempt to provide assistance. Despite their efforts to maneuver into a supportive position, the risk of friendly fire held them back from providing effective support.
"Argh DIE DIE DIE!" The two guards, consumed by panic and desperation, shouted in unison as they continued to pull the triggers of their empty guns. Even after their magazines were spent, the clicking of their stuck guns and their frantic yelling was used as their last sense of protection against the beast.
"!"
As Fenrir pushed his mouth through the webs, his sharp teeth and powerful jaw presented a terrifying sight. Despite his enhanced strength, tearing through Arachne’s webs proved challenging, even for a beast of Fenrir’s caliber. However, he managed to stretch the webs with brute force, gradually breaking through the barrier.
The scene unfolded slowly, with the frames of the door creaking under the strain. Eventually, the frames gave way with a deafening crash, bringing down the webs attached to them. The collapse of the wall trapped the two guards beneath the tangled mass, with Fenrir’s snout still entangled in the webbing.
However, Fenrir’s impulsive nature led to unforeseen consequences. His snout being caught in the webs was not part of the plan. How could he eat his treats if the webs prevented him from opening his mouth? Like a bull in a rodeo, Fenrir grew increasingly frenzied, shaking his head in all directions and inadvertently tossing the guards around with him as he struggled to free himself.
Bang bang!*
As the guards were hurled around by Fenrir’s frenzied movements, their bodies collided with the building’s walls, each impact accompanied by gut-wrenching screams. The constant screams rang in everyone’s ears until the screams died down, yet the sickening sounds of their bodies colliding into hard surfaces didn’t waver.
When the guards came to the realization of their co-workers and even friends’ deaths, they opened fire indiscriminately at the giant beast. The bullets didn’t bounce off like the arrows in the past, but were embedded into his skin. The bullets didn’t manage to cause any significant damage, but it still managed to annoy Fenrir greatly.
"Awwhooo!" Fenrir howled in frustration as it finally managed to free its snout from the webs. Its gaze swept over those wielding the weapons that had fired the tiny pellets, eyes gleaming with vengeance.
Boom!
With a deafening crash, Fenrir disregarded caution and plowed through the door, seizing one of the guards in his massive jaws and lifting him into the air with brutal force. The unfortunate victim’s body was torn asunder, his upper half soaring through the air while the other half crashed to the ground in a gruesome display of carnage.
Meanwhile, the students had wisely put distance between themselves and the ferocious battle. They were well aware of the capabilities of Noah’s werewolf form and had no intention of challenging it. Instead, they anxiously awaited Noah’s arrival, hoping he would intervene before their lives were endangered.
"Get over here and help you rats!" One of the guards screamed in their direction, but desperate order didn’t amount to anything as none of them moved. If anything, the distance between them only grew further.
By the time the person finished yelling, another guard was violently hurled meters away from the scene, his anguished cries cut short as he met a grisly end upon impact. The scene was beginning to be a repeat of what they had experienced with the zombie with tentacles. Unlike the monster before, they could actually witness their deaths before it happened which made the situation more horrifying than the other.
From seventeen guards, their numbers dwindled to eight as Fenrir shifted from hunting mode to a sadistic pleasure in toying with his victims. Amidst holding a woman in his jaws, his teeth pierced her legs, causing her to faint from the excruciating pain, only to be awakened again by the same agony. Suddenly, Fenrir halted his actions. The guards had exhausted their ammunition, and as they attempted to flee in terror, they sought refuge among the students, realizing that the beast had ceased its pursuit, leaving them to constantly glance over their shoulders in fear of becoming his next prey..
As their gaze followed Fenrir’s, they spotted him staring intently towards a window on the second floor. Though they couldn’t comprehend the reason behind his focus, the students understood.

As Noah underwent his transformation, Arachne heard the tumultuous noise echoing from below, accompanied by the menacing growls of Fenrir. Jealousy surged within her as she realized that Fenrir had found more prey. Moving towards the window to observe the unfolding chaos, she watched with anxious anticipation as each person met their demise, salivating to their fresh corpses. While the zombies she fed on were satisfying, the humans, particularly those resembling Noah, seemed far more appetizing. With each guard that fell, she mentally counted another meal for herself. However, her attention was abruptly diverted when Noah stirred awake.
The subtle shift in their bonds alerted them to Noah’s presence, a sensation that intensified as he groggily roused from slumber, his focus drawn to the clamor below. Despite the ringing in his ears, Noah’s primary concern was the noise that had roused him, dismissing the drowsiness that threatened to overwhelm him.
Crack!*
"Argh that felt nice!" With a satisfying crack of his bones, Noah stretched, relishing the sensation before making his way to the window, where a scene of familiar horror developed before him.
"Why is it always them...?"
