Becoming a Monster-Chapter 51: An annoyed Arachne
Chapter 51: Chapter 51: An annoyed Arachne
Boom!*
Gravity intensified around the werewolf, compelling it to the ground, where it lay in a futile attempt to resist. Despite its instinctual struggles to break free and attack the approaching figure, it remained trapped in its forced prone position, unable to lift itself.
Yet as time continued, bit by bit, the werewolf was acclimating to the oppressive force, its muscles straining against the invisible pressure. By time it could fully negate the pressure, Noah was already upon it. Every moment, every action up to this point had been meticulously planned.
From the moment Noah acquired the skill ’Subservient Hierarchy,’ he possessed an innate understanding of its potential to command and subdue the werewolf with just a mere word. However, his introspective nature drove him to prepare even further. With unassigned points still at his disposal, he recognized the critical need for speed in this scenario.
Initially, allocating all remaining points to agility seemed the optimal choice. However, Noah’s magic state hovered dangerously close to reaching the threshold that would grant him an additional ability. With the recent upgrade to his skill ’Immortal Body,’ his magic was just two points away from reaching fifty.
Without hesitation, Noah redirected two points from his agility, channeling them into his magic. This decision was made in the hope of acquiring a skill that could potentially enhance his ability to subdue the beast, while the remaining points were still allocated to his agility, ensuring he could swiftly reach the werewolf’s head to establish the taming connection faster.

Noah’s gamble proved to be a wise decision. While ’Monster Tongue’ alone would have been a useless skill in this particular scenario, there was no room for negotiation with a beast driven solely by its primal urge to feed. However, when paired with the skill ’Subservient Hierarchy,’ the authoritative command, bolstered by his new skill, gained an unprecedented strength.
As Noah issued his command, the werewolf, already oppressed by the enhanced authority of his voice, remained subdued long enough for him to reach the beast’s side, where he could establish the crucial taming connection.
"...."
The tense silence enveloped the room, broken only by the feral growls emanating from the werewolf in the process of being subdued. If not for the beast’s primal noises, the atmosphere would have been so quiet that one could hear the soft breathing of the person beside them.
No one had words to describe what was happening in front of them. ’Why was the werewolf listening to him?’
Many people in the group had the same thought. Some speculated that Noah had been controlling the werewolf all along, comparing him to be a unique zombie like the King previously. The few with those thoughts are the same ones who were there to witness his belligerent and crazed state while eating the Zombie King in the midst of battle.
They felt they should speak up, they wondered why no one was doing anything but they too were afraid to voice their feelings. If the wolf caused so much destruction alone then how in danger were they now that its master returned? Fortunately, only a small minority of the students shared the same thoughts.
Gasp*
It helped that when they saw Noah approaching the wolf, its jaws gaped wide in a menacing attempt to devour him whole. Just like the other times, he was able to sidestep the attack, however, his new lack of speed forced him to reuse his athourative skill in order to stall the beast attack enough to leap onto its neck, firmly placing his hand upon its head afterwards. As soon as contact was made and Noah closed his eyes, a profound silence descended upon the scene, accompanied by a complete absence of movement.
Only a select few among the spectators understood the significance of what was unfolding before them. Isabelle, having witnessed Noah’s abilities before, recognized the process of taming a creature. Similarly, Bailey and her small group, including Blake, who had experience in taming creatures, comprehended the gravity of the situation.
"Ar-are we saved?"
"What’s going on? Why aren’t they moving? Are they dead?
"Should we attack....? What happens if it starts moving again?"
"Wait...If he could do this, why didn’t he do this before? People were killed for no reason!"
The sight of Noah subduing the werewolf had incited many different reactions from the spectators, some more questionable than the others. Some questioned the motives behind Noah’s actions, while others expressed relief at the prospect of being saved.
Lucky for them, Noah wasn’t able to hear any of it while he was going through his battle, a battle he presumed would take a lifetime after considering the beast’s strength. He was in for a surprise when they entered that world, this time, the force of being rejected didn’t occur. Instead he felt that the wolf’s sphere that resembled its soul was anticipating being tamed and was actually being drawn towards his soul!
Noah couldn’t shake the feeling that something was amiss. While his newfound skills undoubtedly offered him an advantage, he couldn’t shake the nagging suspicion that taming a beast of this magnitude shouldn’t be so easy.
As he gazed upon the wolf’s orb of gas, a sense of unease settled in his stomach. Unlike other creatures he had encountered, the werewolf’s soul lacked any trace of white, indicating its human origin. Instead, it resembled a dark void, akin to a black hole swallowing everything in its path. Because of that he was also able to easily notice the wisps of red.
While the orb grew closer, he noticed the crimson energy becoming more prevalent out of the darkness. The wisp began to glow and become chaotic while parts of the black that made up the majority of its being was being replaced by the chaotic color.
’Shit!’
It took him longer to realize, but when he saw the appendages made of black and red stretch out and were directed towards him. He finally noticed what was happening.
’The bastard is trying to tame me instead?’ Inwardly, he panicked due to the surprising, yet dangerous situation he found himself in. His first thought was to reject the wolf’s attempt, similar to how the other creatures he tamed had tried to resist.
But that would also mean he would fail to tame the beast. Decisively, he too made the decision to tame the other. His orb launched its own tentacles of various shades.
’!’
As the opposing orbs clashed with one another, Noah braced himself for the familiar sensation of the battle of wills that had accompanied his previous attempts at taming creatures. Yet, to his surprise, he experienced something entirely different.
Instead of the usual struggle for dominance or control, Noah sensed a sinister intent emanating from the werewolf’s soul. It was as if the creature sought to consume and merge with his very essence. Why was this happening? He wouldn’t know, he could come up with reasons later. What he did know was that he wasn’t going to allow whatever it was doing to happen. From the connection, he could tell, or more so, he wasn’t able to ’feel’ any emotion coming from the wolf’s soul, so whatever it was doing was just instinctual.
When he focused his thoughts to establish the bond, he found that his spiritual strength was more than enough to dominate the other now that the two orbs were connected.
Unbeknownst to him, as the connection between the two orbs solidified, the red tendrils within Noah’s own orb began to expand.
.....
"We’ve waited for too long...we should do something!" Mark’s frustration boiled over, evident in the way he clenched his fists tightly around his sword. Many others were also beginning to reciprocate the same feeling, while there were still some that didn’t agree with him.
Jas, however, remained composed, she sensed the unrest among the group but believed in giving Noah the benefit of the doubt."Mark, we shouldn’t. We don’t know what’s going to happen, but we atleast owe it to Noah to wait and see what happens." She responded, but her eyes never left Noah’s and the werewolf’s figure while she spoke. She was looking for anything, a twitch, a subtle change in his expression, anything to let them know if something was going to happen.
Mark stopped to look at his sister with a look of betrayal before he grew irritated.
"We don’t owe him anything! If anything he owes us an explanation! People died from that beast, if he could stop it as easily as he just did then why didn’t he do so earlier?"
The impassioned words from Mark struck a chord with many in the crowd, stirring up emotions that had been simmering beneath the surface. For those who had lost friends or narrowly escaped death themselves, it was difficult to ignore the call for accountability. Someone had to take the blame for their experience, who better than the person who had power and the responsibility to save them because of that power? freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"You guys...." The murmurs grew louder as more and more students began to align themselves with Mark, their weapons drawn in a show of unified agreement. Jasmine watched in disbelief as those who had once hesitated now stood resolute, ready to take action now that Noah had subjugated the threat.
Mark noted that look of worry in his sister’s eyes. It was that same look when he was being described as a murderer. Mark knew Jas had always been wary of his impulsive nature, he may have had other intentions of doing what he was about to do, but he didn’t want his sister to think killing Noah was one of them.
"Jas look..."Mark’s voice softened as he approached his sister. "We’re not trying to harm Noah , we are basically helping him, there’s nothing wrong with doing that right? If we take down that monster before it can hurt anyone else, we’re doing what’s right, aren’t we? If he doesn’t succeed in what he’s trying to do then who knows how many other people would die. Trust me, this is the best course of action.""
Boom!
Before Mark and his followers could advance, a large object crashed between them and Noah.
Arachne’s annoyance simmered as she listened to the heated exchange, initially disregarding it. However, when she caught her master’s name amidst the commotion, her curiosity piqued. She scanned the scene, her eight eyes narrowing as she realized the group’s intentions. They were preparing to approach Noah, weapons drawn, as if they intended to interfere with whatever he was doing.
With a sudden clarity, Arachne understood their motive: they sought to steal her master’s prey. An intense surge of protectiveness welled up within her. She couldn’t allow them to disrupt Noah’s efforts, not when she sensed he was nearing success.
Arachne’s movements spoke volumes as she drummed her legs against the ground, creating a threatening rhythm, while her fangs scraped together, emitting a low, ominous hiss.
"Stop!" Bailey rushed over while cradling the unconscious Ailetta in her arms. Her companions saw her heading over and they too wanted to rush to her side, but only Blake was able to. Paul was still being healed by Isabelle who was finally able to stop the numerous wounds from bleeding.
Bailey didn’t know what came over her, but when she saw the spider jump down, she knew she had to do something. She had learned from Blake’s experience that Noah was attempting to tame the werewolf. She didn’t know if he would succeed, but she didn’t want to get on his bad side.
She also witnessed the speed at which Arachne moved. While Arachne may not have been able to do much against the two boss-like monsters, Bailey felt that the spider was similar to a boss in her own right.
She looked at Mark’s group as if they were idiots.
"Where were you when Paul was in trouble? Why wait until now to interfere? You all may be too emotional to notice, but look whose side this spider belongs to! If he could get that beast on his side, that would only make being around him that much safer. Do you want to make him your enemy?"
The group hesitated, stopping to look at one another before their apprehensive glances turned to Mark, seeking for him to take on the accountability for their actions. For the few who saw the other worldly battle between Noah and the King, their body’s became heavy as they dropped their weapons. The ones who could still vividly remember Noah in the act of eating the Zombie king caused a few to wet themselves. They all looked at Arachne who looked just as menacing, heightening their unease. ’What were we about to do?’ They all thought to themselves in fear.
Mark’s exasperated sigh filled the room as he folded his arms."...FINE! Don’t regret this if he fails, but if anyone else dies then it’s on you!" Mark huffed before finally relenting. How bad would his image appear if he still decided to interfere after his reasoning for "helping" was clearly put down?
"AWHHHOOOO!"
Everyone’s hearts skipped a beat when the dreaded howl sounded in the room. Panic swirled among the group as they instinctively tensed, they all feared the worst, bracing themselves to flee; anticipating a battle for their lives that they believed they would surely lose.
Then amidst the unsettling tension, Noah’s voice shattered the strained atmosphere. "Ah come on! You’re right in my ear, you big overgrown lug!"
Some dared not to turn towards the source of the sound, their bodies frozen with dread. But curiosity eventually won out, compelling them to face their fears. As they slowly turned, their eyes widened in astonishment at the sight before them: the werewolf stood towering over Noah, its massive form imposing yet strangely inactive. Collectively, they shared one thought:
’Does that mean he succeeded?
