Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Rachel White

Luke blinked, trying to make sense of the things going on.

And just as he diverted his attention back to the diversions, one of them seemed to land in front of him without warning.

"Ah! I-I am so sorry!" The woman observed her surroundings and let out a cry as her face glowed. "My name is Rachel White, and I am from Magic City News!"

Rachel White perpetuated the image of the girl next door. From her long ponytail swaying from side to side, she composed herself. She was very charming with her warm smile and friendly demeanor, but her nervous energy betrayed her excitement.

"I saw you fight that battle, you were amazing!" said Rachel White flush with excitement. "Can I squeeze in a brief interview? Just a couple of questions that would inspire young mages?"

Luke glanced at Morgan, who stood a little off to the side and was attempting yet failing to contain his mirth.

"Interview?" Luke repeated with a hint of disbelief.

"Yes! It won’t take long," and she opened her biggest eyes in an effort to win him over.

Luke sighed, scratching the back of his neck. "Well... I suppose I’ll permit it if it takes a brief moment. Since you’re doing it for the minors, right?"

Rachel White’s eyes widened in disbelief, and then her face broke into a grin. "Thank you! This is amazing!"

She gestured toward a nearby café. "Let’s move over there—it’ll be more comfortable."

As Rachel White led Luke toward the café, Morgan chuckled. "Making a name for yourself already, huh? Enjoy the attention while it lasts."

Meanwhile, Chloe Carter, stationed with her team near the embankment, was grappling with her own frustrations.

"Commander Carter, are you injured? You’re walking a bit stiffly," Evan Lee, her loyal subordinate, observed cautiously.

Chloe’s face flushed a deep red as she snapped, "Get lost!"

Evan recoiled, his eyes wide with shock. "Commander, I was just trying to help—"

"I said go!" Chloe barked, her voice sharp and unwavering.

Evan stumbled back a few steps, muttering under his breath, "What’s her problem today?"

Chloe ignored him, scanning the area for a place to sit. She eventually found a flat rock and lowered herself gingerly onto it.

But the moment she made contact, a sharp jolt of pain shot through her. She leapt to her feet instantly, her face contorted in frustration.

"Damn it, Luke!" she growled, clutching her backside. The memory of his earlier slap was still fresh, and the sting hadn’t faded.

"Bastard! I’ll make you pay for this!" Chloe muttered through gritted teeth. "Next time we duel, I’ll crush him!"

As Chloe fumed, a voice spoke up behind her, dripping with amusement.

"It’s rude to talk behind someone’s back, you know."

Her eyes widened, and she spun around to see Luke standing there, his signature smirk plastered across his face.

"What are you doing here?!" Chloe demanded, backing away instinctively.

Luke raised his hands in mock surrender. "Relax, I’m not here to pick a fight."

Chloe narrowed her eyes. "You’d better not be. This is a military zone, and I won’t hesitate to—"

Before she could finish, Luke tossed a small vial toward her. Chloe caught it deftly and peered at the contents, her expression shifting from suspicion to curiosity.

"What’s this?" she asked.

"It’s a Tyrant Ant," Luke replied. "These little guys can collapse a ten-story building in under a day. I found them near the river—they’re probably how the demons bypassed the coastal defenses."

Chloe’s eyes widened in shock. "Are you serious?"

"Take it to your researchers," Luke said. "They’ll figure it out."

Chloe hesitated for a moment, then nodded, tucking the vial into her pouch. "Thanks... If this is real, you might have just saved a lot of lives."

As Chloe turned to leave, she felt a sudden breeze behind her. Her body tensed instinctively, and her thoughts raced. "Is he going to try something again?"

But instead of another slap, Luke leaned in close, his breath warm against her ear.

"Our relationship... no thanks necessary," he whispered, his voice low and teasing.

Chloe froze, her face flushing crimson.

"You—you—" she stammered, spinning around to confront him.

But Luke was already walking away, his laughter ringing out as he disappeared into the distance.

Due to Rachel White’s interview, Luke’s name had spread throughout the entirety of the Demon Capital over the past few days. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

"Celestial Academy freshman," "young legend," "new hero"—these were just some of the headlines dominating the media in Magic City.

What resonated the most with the public was the absence of a prominent family backing Luke, an element that struck a chord with countless ordinary citizens. They saw in him a symbol of hope and relatability, someone who could rise without the advantages of a noble lineage.

By contrast, the achievements of Professor Xavier, the two super-level military commanders, and Morgan Jones in slaying the monarch-level Shadow Shrimp garnered far less attention.

The public expressed their gratitude, yes, but they saw these actions as expected of such figures—nothing surprising.

As a result, the number one trending topic was none other than Luke’s journey.

The second? The mysterious summoner with the Skywing Wolf.

The third was the monarch-level Shadow Shrimp itself.

"Ridiculous! How could such a lowlife be hailed as a hero?"

Ethan White, wrapped head to toe in bandages, slammed his fist on the table in anger. He winced immediately, letting out a painful groan.

"Argh... Curse him, curse that Luke! I swear I’ll make him pay!"

The manor was heavy with tension as Ethan seethed. The sight of Luke on the TV screen, basking in public admiration, made his blood boil.

"Cousin, calm down."

The soft, almost melodic voice came from Bella White, a girl with warm brown eyes and golden-brown curls cascading down her back. She exuded an air of calm rebellion, a juxtaposition that was as intriguing as it was unsettling.

"Cousin, is Luke a freshman at Celestial Academy too? Which department?" she asked, her voice delicate yet curious.
