Beastmen Love-Chapter 34: Claud

"Claud?.. Are you there?" Astri asks in her mind.

He doesn’t answer. She sighs mentally, since they didn’t talk much that day and didn’t part with a good energy, she feels she misses him.

Every morning she talks to him, so it feels like something is amiss.

The wind touches her face sweetly and she smiles.

"Thank you."

It’s impressive that Astri likes talking to Claud so much. And that she trusts him so much and she never actually saw him in person.

She doesn’t have any idea of what he looks like, but she imagines he must be beautiful since he’s a unicorn.

Who would know that a fantasy creature in another world would be a strong beast on another?

At night, Astri was looking at the stars and recognizing the constellations she had created, knowing the direction they’re going.

"Checking your constellations?" Wayde asks her, after seeing she’s not asleep.

"Yeah. I already made five." She says.

"What is constellations?" Lee asks.

She explains to them, and they’re looking at the stars with her and tries to draw what she’s saying.

She first goes behind Wayde and points to the stars, putting her arm near his head to help him find the stars.

"That’s the Hopping Constellation. Can you see the rabbit?" She says.

"Now I can." He answers.

"That is the Howling Constellation, you can see like a wolf howling."

She points each constellation to him and then to the others. Cyprian felt his heart give a little jump when she touched his shoulder and heard her voice from behind his ear.

"More than 200 years old and I never tried to do this." Cyprian says.

"The stars will be always there and will only be far from you as you travel. On each region we can create more, you just need to have creativity." She speaks, laying on Zin’s snake body again.

"I liked the Fierce Eagle Constellation the most." Lee proudly says.

"I’m thinking about call it Proud Eagle Brat instead." She jokes.

"Don’t you dare."

They laugh together. Astri knows how to tease Lee like no one, because he also teases her a lot.

Next day morning, they’re walking and Astri is riding Wayde again.

"Good morning." Astri hears in her mind.

She tries to not show on her behavior that she was happy to hear his voice.

"Good morning, beautiful unicorn!~ I missed you!" She sings.

"Impossible! I’m sure I haven’t given you a single clue. How did you discover it?" He knows it’s useless to deny to her, she’s too smart and knows him too well.

"You said you knew Cyprian. He told me about Nature yesterday, because I could talk to the wind and.." She explains what happened yesterday.

"I see now... Smart as always. I can’t actually blame Cyprian, because he doesn’t know I talk to you everyday."

"Don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone if you don’t want to."

"I believe you and trust you, Astri. What I worry the most is that knowledge is a weapon and everyone wants that. And everyone will do anything to have it. You’re not a good liar, so if someday someone asks you, even if you don’t say anything or be capable to change your answers like you always do, evil beasts and monsters will torture you to have answers. I don’t want that to happen to you.. Ever." He tells.

"I know. Don’t worry. No one will know. My mates were thinking you could be an enemy yesterday, they wanted to lock me inside our castle so you would never find out about me. They fear you more than the king. I stayed quiet all the time even hearing them bad mouthing about you! And I could only suspect anything because I knew you when Cyprian told me about the unicorns. And I couldn’t resist teasing you." She says in her mind.

He smiles. That woman can make everything harder, but also lighter for him. He loves it.

"And I just can imagine how beautiful you are!! An unicorn!! Oh my!! You must sparkle like a rainbow!" She says excitedly.

He blushed when she said that. Then he sees in her memories the kind of unicorns she saw in the other world.

"I don’t sparkle like a rainbow.. but I’m very much like you already know. I didn’t know unicorns existed in the other world." He says, shyly because he’s still blushing.

He knows she can’t see him blushing, but he’s still shy.

"They were fantasy creatures. They didn’t exist for real, they were just created as fantastic animals to call attention for the story becoming more unique. But I always loved unicorns! I can’t believe I know one for real!"

When she said she loves unicorns made him blush even more.

"All right! Stop treating me like a prize or something."

She does everything she can to not laugh. She lays down on Wayde and pretends she will take a nap.

"After what Cyprian explained to you about Nature. What are your thoughts about it?" He tries to change the subject.

If she keeps making him embarrassed he will end up exposing everything.

"I’m starting to unblock myself to feel it more. When I talked to trees, flowers and animals when I was little people would say I was crazy and I thought I was just lonely. Now that I know it’s real, I’ll pay real attention to it and learn to listen to it again."

"Good. I’m happy you will do that. Believe me when I say that’s the best way." He says.

"I trust you.. I’m sorry about yesterday."

"Don’t apologize.. You were raised in a different world where you didn’t have any idea of being a beast, about yourself. No one can expect you to learn everything so fast."

"Thank you.. Am I only going to meet you for real when I shift?"

He sighs. He’s divided, he wishes to see her for real with all his heart, but he also wishes to let her live free.

However, he knows that won’t happen and she will become what she needs to become. He can only protect her now.

"Maybe before. I already have some plans and I will put them to work soon. I’m not telling you, don’t even think about trying to get something from me."

"Is that a challenge?" She jokes.

"No. Because if it was I would lose in no time, you little bold tricky fox."

"What hate is that? Those are too many names!" She giggles and he smiles.

After they finished talking, Claud stood up from where he sits everyday to talk to her.

He wears white long vests, a mix of silk and an expensive kind of skin, his very light blond and very long straight hair that goes all the way his back flows as he walks.

His room is simple, has a simple bed that he could make as Astri did her own, so he likes to lay down to sleep more than before, and also has books on shelves like Astri also taught him.

He opens the door of his bedroom and walks outside, near the door was a big man with dark short hair with big muscles wearing a Greek God style of clothes. On his chest it’s possible to see a dark green dragon mark. frёewebηovel.cѳm

"Higher Priest.." He bows to Claud.

"Galion, I need to gather all the priest guards."

"All of them?"

"Yes. I’ll contact all of them and we will meet somewhere else. You will take me on the sky. The temple guards that are already here, choose the one you trust the most and ask him to start guarding me with you. When we leave, no one will suspect when you’re not around."

"Are you going to meet her?"

"Yes."

"I can go take her. But don’t risk yourself going outside. The king and the council will suspect and will discover you left."

"When they do, I’ll be far. We won’t be leaving now. I don’t want to meet all the guards here, because it will bring questions to others, that’s why we will meet somewhere else. I’ll choose six guards to go meet her and they will gather more beastmen to build a new place that will be safe. I’ve decided to not bring her here and risk being discovered by them. And I can’t help her locking both of us here."

"I understand now, but if they find out where you are, they might take advantage and send an army."

"That’s why the other 6 guards will go after other tribes to become partners and unite in a new city. The city will be built thinking of its security from the beginning, I have someone good at that to project it with me. Bringing her here will be harder to protect her from them, she will be always near their grasp and I don’t want that for her. I could live this way, but not her."

Galion nods silently. He’s the guard Claud trusts the most and also the only one who knows Claud’s beast and real powers.

Galion is with Claud for a hundred years and he knows Claud wouldn’t do something that he doesn’t really believe it’s needed.

Claud sighs and looks to his bedroom.

"I’m in love with her, Galion.."

Galion wides his eyes in shock. He never thought he would hear that coming from Claud.

"At first, I didn’t care if she would be brought here, but now that I know that she won’t be happy here and she won’t have a life she will really become what she is... I would leave everything I’ve built just for her. Do you think I’m being unreasonable, my friend?"

"No.. I understand. I had a mate once, and if it wasn’t you I wouldn’t have survived the backlash. I know the feeling of being in love. You have built all this, you can do it again and also be happy with her. The existence of you both is important to all of us, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be happy too." Galion says, smiling.

Claud is Galion’s lord, savior, and also best friend.

"You can count on me always, my lord. My friend." Galion speaks. Claud smiles and nods.

Claud has decided to stop pretending, and waiting.

He was postponing this decision, pretending this moment would never happen, because he was being a coward with the hope she could just live free and forget one day what she was.

But he wouldn’t handle just talking to her voice everyday, he wants more.
