Babies' Secret: My Ex Wants Me Back!-Chapter 76: Park Date
Chapter 76: Park Date
Chapter 76 – Park Date
Morning before Amanda’s visit. New City.
The twins were sprawled across the living room floor of Aaron’s condo, Jasmine with her Barbie doll—tugging at its dress, brushing out its already tangled hair with brows creased and her tongue peeked out between her side lip, while Hanith flipped through a comic book with keen eyes, his eyes furrowed with every page turn, lost in the wonderland.
The TV hummed softly in the background, some muted cartoon show, forgotten by the kids who were now completely immersed in their own world.
Katherine walked in from the kitchen, carrying a tray of breakfast in her hands. Toast, scrambled eggs, and fruit cut into neat shapes, arranged into smiling faces. It was silly, but the kids always beamed when they saw it.
Aaron, who had been lounging on the couch, his body slouched in some weird angle, leaned over and stole an apple from the tray, grinning mischievously.
Katherine shot him a glare, swatting his stretched hand from the tray. "You’re worse than the twins," she mumbled, her eyes twinkled playfully.
He chuckled, "They learned it from me." She responded, plopping the cut apple in his mouth.
"Daddy!" Hanith called softly, tugging Aaron’s sleeve with enthusiasm. "Can we go to the park later? Pretty please?" freewēbnoveℓ.com
Before Aaron could reply while he sat up properly on the couch, Jasmine jumped up beside him, her voice a mixture of excitement and demand. "I want cotton candy and ice cream! And the swing! The big one!"
Aaron nodded, ruffling their hair with a soft, amused grin, "Okay, my prince and princess! Your wish is my command," he said, recoiling under their puppy eyes that he didn’t have any choice but to crumble under the gaze.
Katherine smiled, shaking her head at his whipped-ass expression and moved closer to the kids, "Only if you finish your schoolwork first."
"Yay!" Jasmine and Hanith cheered, their eyes lit up as they scrambled up to the table where Katherine was already placing their food.
"Sit properly," Katherine said, adjusting Jasmine’s chair and pushing Hanith’s plate toward him. "And no talking while eating."
Jasmine grumbled with a tiny pout, poking her fork into her food. "Why can’t we talk?"
"Table manners, table manners," she tilted her head and Jasmine clapped her hands to complete the rhyme.
"Wash your hands before eating, do not talk while eating and do not overfeed yourself."
"So do you want to talk?"
"No," she grumbled, taking a bite of her meal.
Aaron sat silently, watching the exchange, and a smile pulled on his lips as he helped the kids with their plates, making sure they finished their juice.
When done with their breakfast, Aaron took the kids to the living room and leaned over checking their workbooks. Correcting math work while helping Jasmine with the reading aspect. The living room was quiet with the kids doing their work and Katherine cleaning up some toys discarded on the floor.
Later, Aaron drove his little family to the park. When they got there, Aaron jogged to the ticket center and bought four tickets.
Aaron picked Jasmine up effortlessly and placed her on his shoulder while Jasmine squealed, her small hands clinging to his hair, her laughter infectious. He placed Hanith, who wrapped his arms around Aaron’s bicep, with his other arm, entering the park.
Katherine trailed behind, arms crossed loosely, watching them with stars in her eyes, happy that her kids were enjoying themselves. The way Aaron moved with the kids, the way they clung to him, happy and eager, made her throat tighten with emotion.
Aaron...
The kids played on the merry-go-round, fed koi fishes with stale bread from a paper bag that was bought in the park store, flipped coins into a wishing fountain, and tried their hands at the toy booth.
Aaron helped Hanith aim the soft dart gun, whispering softly in his ear, "Aim at the middle, you will win, my boy," making the boy giggle. Jasmine won a stuffed duck while Hanith won a small penguin after several attempts.
Meanwhile, Katherine just stood like a third-wheeler enjoying the bonding of the kids and Aaron, and her chest flipped again.
After a while, the kids ran ahead to buy another round of cotton candy from a nearby cart while both Katherine and Aaron watched them run, chattering among themselves.
Katherine’s eyes followed the kids as they disappeared behind the store as she craned her head to follow their trail. The kids had told their parents not to follow them, that they could go by themselves.
Katherine brushed her skirt as she turned slightly to ask Aaron about following the kids when someone bumped into her shoulder by accident, and before she could steady herself, Aaron’s hand wrapped around her waist, pulling her close.
Aaron’s eyes flashed, "Look where you are going!" he called out behind the person, and the person mumbled an apology with a bow while Aaron turned to Katherine, whom he had his hand snaked around. "Are you okay?" he murmured, his breath warm near her ear.
Her heart skipped as her eyes flicked up to his, startled, yet she replied shakily. "I’m fine."
Aaron didn’t let go, his fingers held her tighter and his palm rested comfortably on her waist, the other brushing a stray strand of hair from her face. "Go out with me, babe."
Katherine blinked, her fingers unconsciously gripping the fabric of his collar, her chest thudding. "We’re already out," she squeaked.
Aaron chuckled, his voice low, velvety and soft. "No," he said, brushing his thumb gently over her cheek, "Just the two of us. You and me. A date. Time together again." His voice throaty.
Katherine shook her head slightly, trying to look away while wiggling in his arm. "Release me."
"Stop it, babe," he whispered, his voice now closer, almost brushing against her jaw. "Just say yes... and I’ll let go."
Her lashes fluttered, her lips trembled as she felt his breath ghost over her neck, felt her pulse hammering in her throat.
"Okay," she mumbled, wetting her lips.
Aaron’s grin widened like a boy getting what he’d asked for on Christmas morning as his eyes lit up. "That’s my babe," he praised, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead for a fleeting moment.
He released her, then winked at her as he jogged to where the kids turned to, calling after them. "Jasmine! Hanith! Wait up!"
Katherine stood frozen, her cheeks burned as her lips parted as if the breath had left her. Her hands clenched near her heart, feeling its thud echo in every inch of her.
Oh God.
Her body buzzing with sensation.
