Ashes of a Fallen Legacy-Chapter 52: Kael’s Guidance [2]
Chapter 52 - Kael's Guidance [2]
Zane remained still, as Kael looked at him strangely.
He didn't know if Kael was acting like this because of how badly he performed the steps or, how amazing he performed the steps.
"Hey, why the hell are you looking at me like that?"
Startled by Zane's statement, Kael looked away from his gaze and shook his head.
"Sorry about that, I was just thinking about something."
'Was it just pure luck? Or pure skill?'
Kael paused for a moment, he then said:
"Anyways, Zane. I'll be going now, I am quite busy you see. And, you can keep that wooden sword, its much more effective to use for your training."
Hearing Kael's words, a wide smile appeared from Zane's face. He then said:
"Really? Thanks!"
Although Zane could have definitely buy one himself, getting one for free was much better than going out in search for a durable wooden sword. It's too much of a hassle, really.
And since it came from Kael himself, it wouldn't be wrong to assume the wooden sword given to him, wasn't just any ordinary wooden sword.
Kael then turned away from Zane, and started walking away, heading to the academy's dormitory.
Zane watched at the empty space before, where Kael was standing a few seconds ago.
Kael was probably already done with his training, and was about to head to the dormitory, but saw Zane doing some swordsmanship training.
Since, it was still quite sunny, considering that he started his training earlier than the time he usually starts. So, he just continued his training instead.
Soon after, as he swinged his sword. He could see a figure approaching him. He had brown hair, and green eyes who looked quite average.
It was Vale.

Seeing as Vale was approaching him, he stopped swinging his sword. Then, a smile appeared on his face, he then said:
"Hey, what took you so long?"
Vale had a somber look on his face, as he spoke his reasonings.
"Sorry about that, some fuckers wanted a piece of me, and I gave them what they wanted."
Zane's face turned somber as well, however he didn't look too surprised. After all, this acadamy is full of dickheads and egoist people.
They think trampling on those weaker than them, who belongs to a great clan makes them look cool.
A shame, really.
"Anyways, Zane. About what you said earlier, is it really true? Sorry, I just find it hard to believe."
"Well, would you prefer it if I show it to you instead?"
Vale looked at Zane strangely, he then said:
"Huh? Show what?"
"Ahh, whatever. Just follow me, Vale. Someone might see us here, you see. And I really don't want anyone to discover my transformation yet."
Although Vale was still confused, he simply nodded as what he said was pretty reasonable. It wasn't normal for someone to improve so fast in just a few weeks after all.
Zane then hinted at Vale to follow him, they then headed to the dormitory, and went back to their place.
"Seriously? We had to go back all the way here?"
"..."
"Nevermind that, just watch me."
As Zane said those words, he distanced himself from Vale, and stood still for a moment.
Vale meanwhile was still in disbelief, he didn't actually expect for Zane to actually try to prove what he just said earlier.
But then again, he wouldn't have believed him. But seeing as how he was able to cast an advance spell back then at their first lesson with Professor Ferlin, maybe he would have believed him as he saw more of his capabilities.
But, for now, he really needed to see it for himself.
"Alright, I'll do it now."
Without holding his wand, Zane began to cast a spell.
The first spell he casted was a the Thaleward basic barrier spell, Aegis Veil.
Then, he started performing the rest of fhe basic Thaleward barrier spells, which he had just learned recently.
Vale looked at Zane with disbelief in his eyes. Not only was he able to cast the five basic barrier spells of the Thaleward, he also did it without his wand.
Not only that, but he also didn't look drained like he usually do. Usually, after Zane casted a spell, he would already look drained after just casting one spell.
"N-no way..."
"Wait, hold on, Zane."
"Who would want to curse you anyways? Do you know who casted that curse on you, Zane?"
Zane stared at Vale for a moment, he then said:
"Well, beats me. All that matters now is, I got my true mana capacity back."
As Vale heard those words from Zane, his expression turned somber.
"Beats me? Is that not a big deal at all to you, Zane? You have been enduring all those humiliation for years, you know."
Hearing Vale's words, a sigh escape from Zane's lips. He hit the spot, really. He then said:
"For now, all I can do is keep getting stronger."
He didn't mean all the things he said really, in fact he was starting to regret all the things he said.
'What the hell am I even saying now.'
Zane waited for Vale to say anything, however he didn't hear anything from him. Well, atleast for a few minutes.
A sigh then escape from Vale's lips, he then said:
"Well, if that's want you want to do, then I'll respect that, Zane."
Hearing Vale's words, a soft smile started to form on his lips. A genuine smile. Ah, he had never been so glad to have a friend like Vale.
"Thanks, Vale."
He paused, then added:
"But, you're not planning on skipping your physical training are you?"
"..."
As Zane said those words, Vale's body froze. Then an awkward smile appeared on his face, he then said:
"Well, uhh. You know it's almost night time..."
"Excuses! I often do my physical training at night, you know."
"Fine, fine... I will finish my physical training."
Vale then started to walk, heading out of their dormitory.
Zane also followed him outside, as he was still not done with his training.
Zane started to walk along with Vale, carrying a wooden sword with him.
Vale meanwhile didn't notice that he was carrying a wooden sword all this time.
Taking a glance at his wooden sword, Vale's eyes widened.
One glance at it, and one could already tell that it wasn't an ordinary wooden sword.
But the reason why Vale was surprised was because, he never remembered Zane having a wooden sword before.
