Apocalypse: I Built the Infinite Train-Chapter 197: Clownfish
Infinite Train – Rain Town Operation
Three vehicles rolled out from Car No. 11, engines rumbling as they hit the ground. Shu Qin and Lu Xingchen led a squad of over ten armed fighters, advancing along the main road toward Rain Town.
Meanwhile, for better mobility, Lin Xian built another motorcycle. He, KIKI, Lü Chang, and Miao Lu split into pairs, preparing to circle around the town’s outskirts instead of using the main road to reach the chemical plant.
Back at the train, Luo Ye and Shasha remained behind with heavy weaponry, tasked with guarding the train. The non-combat personnel, including Ding Junyi, stayed on board as well.
Mission Briefing
"Shu Qin, Huo-ge, let me repeat—your mission is to create a diversion. There are still Eerie Entities hiding in the buildings, so stay on guard. If you encounter enemy convoys, retreat immediately to the train.”
"Understood."
"Got it." Shu Qin confirmed.
"Chen-laoshi, focus on Shu Qin's team. If they run into trouble, fire immediately for support. Also, keep an eye on any potential targets near the station.”
"Understood."
"Luo Ye, Shasha, the train’s security is in your hands. If we or Shu Qin’s team retreat, you’ll need to provide cover fire."
From Car No. 2, Luo Shasha monitored the train’s Sentinel System, keeping a watchful eye on their surroundings. Another screen displayed the 1130 Fire-Control System, still on standby but fully operational.
“**Don’t worry, Lin-ge. If anyone tries to mess with our train, my brother and I will blast them to pieces.”
With final instructions given, Lin Xian revved his motorcycle and sped off toward the station perimeter with KIKI. Behind them, Lü Chang and Miao Lu followed closely, carrying a large supply crate on their bike.
The station roared to life as engines thundered, the rising sun breaking the eerie silence of the ruined city.
Rain Town – Enemy Recon
On a high-rise balcony, Luo Rui lounged in a deck chair, lazily scanning the station through a pair of binoculars. He held a can of fruit in one hand, his demeanor relaxed.
“They had a way out, but they chose to walk into hell instead.” Luo Rui smirked. “Ding-ge is too soft. If we fed these high-level Ability Users to the Blood Feast, we could’ve had peace for a month or two.”
On the table before him sat two walkie-talkies. He picked one up.
“Fatty, Guo Sheng, what’s the status on that train?”
A voice crackled through the radio:
"Rong-ge, we’ve been watching all night. The train’s got a lot of carriages, but not many people. No more than fifty in total. After accounting for the weak ones, maybe thirty can fight.
“**Just now, three vehicles rolled out, loaded with heavy firepower. About ten-plus people. Their leaders—the two strongest—took motorcycles and are circling the north route into town. Looks like they’re headed for the chemical plant.”
"Chemical plant?" Luo Rui frowned. "That bastard Ding Qing called it. That place has no guns, no firepower, yet they’re walking into the lion’s den? What are they thinking?"
Another voice chimed in through the radio.
"Rong-ge, their main force left the train. Firepower should be weak on board. Plus, judging by last night’s battle, they must’ve taken heavy losses.”
Luo Rui nodded. “Some impostors infiltrated. They must’ve lost a few people.”
"Rong-ge, should we make a move? This is a golden opportunity!"
Luo Rui sneered, adjusting his binoculars as he watched the three approaching vehicles.
“Calm down. Hide and watch first—we can strike whenever we want.”
"Understood."
Unexpected Tactics
The hidden sentries in Rain Town focused their attention on the incoming armored convoy.
At first, they thought the intruders had come seeking revenge. But then—
The vehicles screeched to a halt outside the town, and over ten fighters disembarked, sweeping the nearby buildings.
Gunfire erupted. Flames engulfed a building within minutes.
Through the binoculars, Luo Rui’s expression twisted in confusion.
“What the f*? Are they trying to clear us out building by building? Or are they hunting the impostors for revenge?**”
A voice crackled over the radio.
"These guys are idiots."

Luo Rui chuckled. “I thought they were storming in for a real fight. Those buildings are crawling with monsters—they’re literally asking to die.”
"Yeah. If they keep this up, they won’t last two hours.”
Luo Rui had assumed the intruders were coming for a fight, given how they had ambushed his group the night before.
Instead, they had launched a full assault on the impostors.
For what? Resources? The town had already been picked clean.
To find someone? Searching door-to-door was suicide—the impostors were endless.
It made no sense.
Luo Rui’s eyes narrowed.
Grabbing his walkie-talkie, he ordered:
“Team One and Two—move in from the east and west. Guo Sheng, take Team Three and circle behind—blow the rail tracks. Fatty, bait them in—toss a few Bone Worms at them. Do NOT expose yourselves. That train has insane armor.”
"Roger that.”
“And if night falls and they’re still holding out?”
Luo Rui turned toward the chemical plant.
“Then we wait for Ding-ge. Once their leader is dead and the track is destroyed, they’re trapped.
“**Then, we’ll let them choose—**a quick death, or a slow one.”
"Got it!"
Dozens of vehicles and over forty men began moving silently toward the station, closing in from all sides.
A scouting team sped off on motorcycles, carrying explosives toward the rail tracks.
Chemical Plant – The Ambush
Lin Xian raced ahead on his motorcycle, speeding toward the chemical plant.
The morning mist hung low over Rain Town, giving it an eerie stillness.
Through the fog, the towering cooling towers came into view. Lin Xian’s expression darkened.
His communicator crackled.
“Lin Xian, you were right. Movement spotted near the station.”
Chen Sixuan’s voice carried a hint of tension.
“Hold your position. Do NOT engage until I give the order.”
"Understood."
From her sniper perch, Chen Sixuan peered through her scope, watching the convoy sneaking through the trees.
Her breathing steadied.
She adjusted her focus—her world slowed down.
She could even read the lips of the men inside the vehicles.
As her heartbeat steadied, her fear and hesitation faded.
She liked this feeling—calm and control.
Showdown at the Chemical Plant
As Lin Xian and KIKI approached the plant, they spotted several heavy-duty vehicles already parked outside.
Over a dozen armed men stood guard.
At the center—Ding Qing in Exoskeleton Armor, gripping a black rifle.
Beside him stood Duan Min, her expression unreadable.
They had been waiting for them.
Lin Xian’s eyes darkened.
“Figures. A pack of clownfish.”
KIKI floated off the motorcycle, raising her hand—
BOOM!
A shockwave blasted the mist apart, clearing the field of vision.
Instantly, the guards snapped their rifles up, aiming at her.
But—
Ding Qing raised a hand, stopping them.
He locked eyes with Lin Xian, his gaze shifting.
"You left. Why come back?"
