Apocalypse Forecast-Chapter 715 - 586 Les Misérables_2
"You see, Luo Su," he said impatiently, "the proxy you chose has already received my vote. Announce the result of the vote." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
"Four to one, one abstention, the resolution is passed."
In the projection within the meeting room, Luo Su declared the outcome, "Whether it is him or you, go ahead and do it, Mikhail. I will bear all the consequences."
"Events overlap, causes converge, time, place, person, and incident... All the prerequisites are now in place. Let us unveil the final curtain."
As Luo Su spoke, all the members in the meeting room lifted their eyes, guiding the descent of the ’Heavenly Kingdom’.
Under the control of the Great Grandmaster, the vast Mystic Ritual once preserved by Utopia was awakened.
The matrix enveloped everything. A framework established itself out of thin air.
The engines of the entire Iron Crystal Throne entered an overload state instantaneously as a tremendous miracle descended within the hull. The great Iron Crystal Throne itself struggled to cope, emanating a deep roar from its overtaxed operations.
The countless records stirring within Hell were captured by this immense gravitational pull, converging inward. A torrent of Source Substance nourished it, bringing forth from non-existence the phantom of a thick tome.
The cover bore no title. Innumerable void characters flickered uncertainly, starting to search through the billions of fragments for the central axis that ran through the core...
The Hell Alchemy, once unique to the Heavenly Kingdom Genealogy, was reborn. It gathered events, concentrated spirits and souls. The God Core of Hell was about to be resurrected here.
Below the high tower, Huai Shi stood up.
It was uncertain whether it was because he had finally made his resolve, or because he no longer hesitated, but the tangled deposits of Hell could no longer affect him.
The screams were still piercing.
But Huai Shi’s heart had unexpectedly calmed, without a single ripple.
He looked up at the respected elder who had been waiting by his side for a long time and asked, "Is there something the matter?"
"Yes," the elder said. "Your students have just captured August."
Huai Shi was slightly taken aback.
It wasn’t that he didn’t believe in Yuan Yuan and Lin Nineteen; August’s own strength was already top-tier among the Third Stage. Intensively nurtured by the Ivory Tower since childhood, his accumulated power was astonishing, and his experience vast.
None of those who managed to survive in Hell for so long were easy adversaries. Even if his two students joined forces, they might not have been able to handle him.
"To be precise, he just stood there, as if stupefied, without moving at all," the elder explained. "He wouldn’t say a word when questioned, acting as if he had already given up resistance... We haven’t known what to do with him."
"Where is he?"
Huai Shi asked, "Bring him to me."
Soon, August, shackled, was escorted by his former colleagues and presented before Huai Shi.
His expression remained calm, or rather, numb.
His heart felt like dead ashes.
Like Huai Shi, once he understood the nature of the Eternal Frozen Heart, he naturally realized what the Eternal Life Machine truly was.
Moreover, he had known far more than Huai Shi even before this, and the impact he felt was all the more immense.
The last glimmer of hope was completely shattered.
Maybe there was still a chance to save Condra using it.
But what good would that do?
Personally turn his foster father into an eternally tormented monster?
The events that had once befallen the Town of Dusk replayed within him. He had gambled everything on that sliver of hope, and when the truth was unveiled, dissolution followed.
After losing all hope of saving Condra, August completely lacked the drive to continue acting or rebelling.
Just by looking into those hollow eyes, Huai Shi knew in what kind of Abyss of pain August was languishing.
He did not yearn to keep living but longed for a clean break, a final judgment.
To end it all.
In the silence, Huai Shi drew the Sword of Virtue and brought it down, only to stop abruptly.
The blade paused just above August’s neck. A few centimeters further, and it would have elegantly slid through the gap between the vertebrae, deftly separating bone and muscle, delivering a swift end and death to him.
But death didn’t come.
As Huai Shi’s blade slowly lifted, he said, "Live, August. You must pay the price for everything you’ve done."
August looked up at him, unable to suppress a snort of derision.
"Is this some kind of pity from you, Your Honor Judge?" he asked mockingly. "What’s the point of sparing my life? Or do you think death is too gentle for my actions, and you’d rather I suffered in prison, living in Hell?"
"It’s pointless," he said. "I’m already there..."
"I know."
Huai Shi looked at him and suddenly asked, "Do you know how I got out of those records? You must have seen it at the moment of activation, didn’t you? Those fantasies... I was even deeper in them than you. The records entangling me were more numerous than you can imagine, and I wasn’t far from assimilation."
In the silence, August heard Huai Shi’s response.
"It was Condra who saved me."
He stood frozen, his eyes widening in shock.
"He retained his consciousness all along, August. He knows what you did, and he understands why you did it. But the moment the Eternal Frozen Heart was activated, he sacrificed his last hope of returning to the world of men and saved me."
