Chapter 1428: Battlefield (Camp 5)

Tent 200

Supervisor Kenny saw the corpse. He recognized it immediately; it belonged to Assistant Munro. He didn’t jump to conclusions.

I appeared in front of him. Kenny looked at the corpse and turned to me.

"What happened?" he asked.

Hearing that, I sighed in relief. Supervisor Kenny hadn’t made a premature judgment.

Then, I started explaining things to him. At first, Kenny was calm, but when he learned Munro had tried to kill Zack Lockwood, he was shocked to the core.

To be honest, he had guessed it somewhat, but it was still shocking to know that Zack Lockwood was able to kill a Gold Mark Warrior.

He knew Zack Lockwood had the capability to fight across ranks, but it carried a different meaning when someone achieved a cross-kill against a Genius Gold Mark Warrior.

A few minutes later,

I finished explaining everything. Kenny digested the information. He needed to report to Dean Jerome first.

Swoosh!

He collected the corpse before turning toward Zack Lockwood.

"Dean Jerome told me there are planted spies here, but I didn’t expect Munro to be one," Kenny said with a sigh.

"It’s good that you had the strength to protect yourself. Forget about this matter. If anyone tries to harm you again, handle it just like you did today," he added.

I nodded to him. Then, he left my tent silently. I heaved another sigh of relief.

I had thought it would be a much bigger issue, but fortunately, Dean Jerome and Supervisor Kenny had already expected something like this to happen.

I collected my thoughts and sat down on the sofa. I spent a few minutes there before entering the essence chamber.

I had lost quite a bit of sealing force earlier, and it was time to replenish it. Inside the chamber, I turned on the switch, and energy started filling the room.

When the mist-like energy appeared, I started comprehending the sealing method. The sealing rune in my mind began throbbing as I immersed myself in the practice.

Time passed.

The sealing force in me started to recover. Seeing that, I continued the process.

Midnight.

I walked out of the chamber after ending the practice. Next, I went to the bathroom to take a shower.

I spent 20 minutes there, then walked out and changed into comfortable clothes. Only then did I feel at ease. Instead of going to the bedroom, I lay down on the sofa.

Next morning,

Buzz!

The battlefield alarm sounded, awakening everyone.

Hearing that, I opened my eyes and got out of bed. I quickly changed into my uniform, opened the door, and walked out.

My gaze fell on the warriors flying through the sky toward a specific location. I knew they were going to the teleportation platform.

Swoosh!

I didn’t waste time and joined them, following from behind. There were more than a hundred warriors in front of me.

In the blink of an eye, there were a hundred warriors behind me as well. It didn’t take long for me to attract unwanted attention. Their gazes were filled with killing intent.

"Hey, Zack Lockwood is ahead!"

"I didn’t expect him to actually come here!"

"It’s going to be interesting!"

"The elite disciples of the main elders and faction leaders are here as well."

"It will be interesting to see them clash."

The warriors spoke to each other without lowering their voices, so I heard everything. I sneered inwardly. To be honest, I was looking forward to meeting the elite disciples as well.

It had been some time since I joined Star University, and I had only met the disciples of Master Austin and Master Ann, who are my senior brothers and sisters.

I hadn’t had the opportunity to see the others yet. This camp experience was going to be interesting.

Soon, we arrived in front of the teleportation platform. The warriors landed on the ground one by one.

The Gold Mark Warriors didn’t wait for anyone; they rushed onto the platform. Ten people disappeared, then the next ten entered.

Swoosh!

They disappeared from the platform. I stood closer to the entrance, feeling the piercing gazes of the Silver Mark Warriors.

Surprisingly, the Gold Mark Warriors didn’t look at me. I wondered which among them were the planted spies.

Assistant Munro had revealed his true self the moment he saw me.

I thought other spies would take action right here, but I was wrong. Soon, it was the turn of the Silver Mark Warriors. They entered the teleportation platform in groups.

Not long after, the warriors who were observing me entered the platform. When my turn came, I was among the last group.

Swoosh!

I stepped inside. The teleportation activated the next second, and we disappeared.

It didn’t take long for my feet to touch solid ground. There were five Silver Mark Warriors beside me.

The platform was protected by a layer, similar to the previous Warrior Camp 8. I took a step and started walking forward.

At the same time, I activated my perception. I found these people strangely calm. None of them talked to me; more importantly, they didn’t even speak to each other, which was even more suspicious.

I wanted to see what they were up to. A second later, my perception caught them glancing at one another. A quick gleam appeared in my eyes.

I darted from the spot, and in the blink of an eye, I passed through the protective layer and onto the battlefield.

The five Silver Mark Warriors were taken aback. Then, they started rushing toward the battlefield at the same time. They were planted spies, specifically, spies for the foreign creatures.

The foreign side had long suspected that Zack Lockwood could be the Masked Warrior, but they didn’t have confirmed evidence.

Consequently, they had started targeting all suspicious warriors. The spies hadn’t expected Zack Lockwood to come to this camp.

It was the perfect opportunity for them; once they eliminated him, they would receive massive rewards. The eyes of all five flashed with greed.

On the other hand, I saw a vast, charred black land in front of me. Thick smoke was rising everywhere.
