Alpha's Lost Luna Returns With His Twins-Chapter 206-The Devil’s Don’t Play Easy
Iris:
"When did you come?" I asked.
James had this scared look on his face that already told me what I was suspecting was true. There was something going on, something that was not fully uncovered.
By him asking the caller if he was still in contact with them, I could only assume they were my mother and my brother being mentioned.
So when I had to act like nothing was wrong, it was really difficult for me because I was still in shock.
Yet having my children beside me helped, because I broke my stare with James by lowering my head toward them, and that gave me enough space to work on my facial expressions before lying to him.
"I just came now, right now, and I thought I would let you guys know firsthand that Kash has planned a lunch for you at the main mansion," I replied in a calm yet cheery tone.
At the same time, I gently fixed my children’s clothes to avoid making eye contact with James.
"Um, how are you?" James asked, and I finally gave him a full glance.
"I’m doing well. Of course, it will take me some time to heal. But how are you?" I replied, forcing a smile onto my lips as I stepped closer and held his hand to reassure him that I had not heard anything and that I still respected him.
Although I was skeptical, even when he was talking to someone, I heard him say things that did not make him look bad.
If anything, he was telling the other party to be honest with me. The other party could have been Luca.
"Uh, what lunch?" my father questioned as he approached us, and my children once again started to jump around him.
"Kash’s mother was saying that you guys are family, so we should all have lunch together," I told my father softly. "And please don’t think about what happened yesterday. It was just a minor disagreement. It happens a lot between Kash and Luca," I added as I stepped away and settled into a seat in the living room.
My father had made pancakes, so my kids were really excited to try them. There were moments when I watched my father zone out, and I could tell he was missing my mother. She had hurt him so badly that he could not even miss her openly.
"No, you are right. Luca was also out of line. He should not be expressing love for someone else’s mate, especially someone as powerful as Alpha King Kash," James remarked, not siding with his son.
At this point, I was confused. I did not understand why James was so against his own son. The other person on the call had to be Luca.
"Hey guys, what’s going on?" Luca called out, and just as I thought things would not get awkward, he barged in.
He was fixing his hair and buttoning up his shirt. When his eyes met mine, he uttered softly, "Couldn’t resist the transition," before hurrying into the room.
"James, you need to tell him to calm himself down. Transitioning here and there in this community could be dangerous," my father warned, and James nodded in response.
But the way James stole glances at me when he stood up and rushed in after his son put me at unease.
I spent the next two or three hours with my father before I had to leave to check on the lunch arrangements.
And surprise, surprise, the moment I entered the mansion, I was stunned by what I saw.
It seemed Zoe and Lady Vivian had prepared the entire mansion for this small gathering, and they had done it far more perfectly than I could have imagined.
Were they going to poison us with love? That was all I could think of.
"Anyway, you didn’t have to do so much," I told Zoe as I watched her boss the maids around.
"Oh no, of course I do. I want my niece and nephews to know these are the traditions we go by," she replied, smiling at Colin and Amy.
For a moment, I felt like maybe her love for my children was not fake after all. Why was she so interested in making them happy?
Then again, this was Zoe. Nobody ever knew why she did what she did. She could be planning a whole ass assassination, and nobody would figure it out.
"There’s so much food being prepared in the kitchen," Amy remarked, instantly noticing it.
"Of course there is. Your grandpa is coming over, remember?" Zoe responded, keeping one eye on me as she spoke to her.
She was probably watching how I would react to her talking to my children after Kash had told them not to force themselves on them.
I did not stop her because I did not want to push her to the point where my children became her target.
"We’ll go get ready then, and we’ll take so many pictures," Colin and Amy told Zoe, jumping up and down happily.
"Oh, we already got you clothes," Zoe replied.
As if things could not get any worse, Lady Vivian stepped out holding two new sets of dresses for my children.
"You really did not have to do all that," I remarked, feeling a little annoyed. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
I would have been happy if someone showed this much concern for my children, but with these people, love always came with conditions.
"Like I said, I’m doing all this for these little angels," Lady Vivian responded, keeping her eyes on my children’s faces.
I also wore a beautiful white dress, and when I came out of the bathroom, I noticed my children were already gone.
They must have run out of the room. But what stopped me from leaving was Kash’s presence in the room.
"What are you doing in my room?" I demanded, folding my arms across my chest. "Haven’t you moved out and moved in with Lara now?" I added, taunting him.
