Alpha's Lost Luna Returns With His Twins-Chapter 205-Something Is Off About Luca
Iris:
"Um, are you all going somewhere?" Kash asked quickly, trying to change the subject as he shifted his attention to the children.
"Yeah, we were thinking about going to play with Grandpa," Colin replied, though his voice no longer carried the same excitement as before.
I knew my children wanted me to spend time with Kash, and I had told them countless times that it was not possible. But they were children, and they did not understand. In fact, they often felt as if they were rivals with Lara.
"Daddy, where are you going?" Colin asked.
I noticed Lara watching me. There was a smug smile on her face, almost as if she was reminding me that he had stayed with her last night.
"We’re heading out for breakfast. Do you want to come?" Kash suggested.
Both kids started nodding, which caught Lara’s attention. Her smile slowly faded.
"No, kids. Remember, we’re spending time with Grandpa. Come on, let’s go," I told them firmly.
I reached forward and pulled the kids from Kash’s arms. I could tell he was not pleased. Still, at least my children would be away from Lara, who clearly did not want them tagging along.
"Let them come with me if they want to. I can take care of them," Kash told me, facing me.
Somewhere along the line, I felt that he wanted me to look him in the eye.
"No need. They will spend time with their Grandpa today, just like they asked," I replied, still avoiding his gaze as I ran my hands through my children’s hair.
"Kids, do you want to come with me?" Kash asked again.
He kept insisting, which made me snap my head up. That was when our eyes met. It felt like he had pushed the moment just to force my attention.
His eyes lingered on my face before he looked away.
"No, it’s okay," Colin replied in his usual casual, sassy tone whenever he felt the need to defend me. "If Mommy doesn’t want to go somewhere, we don’t want to go either."
"Besides, we’ll play with Uncle Luca. He’s a really nice man."
Then Amy hit Kash with her words in a way even I had not expected.
The moment she mentioned Luca, I looked up and saw Kash frown.
I never thought my daughter would be so much like me.
"Yeah, that’s fine," I said. "I need to speak with Luca anyway and plan a job for him. It’s okay. You all enjoy your breakfast. We’ll be heading to the guest house."
Once I noticed how bothered Kash looked, I kept talking about Luca in a way that made it clear I was interested in spending time with him and helping him find work.
A strange silence followed. Kash kept staring at me, and I could not look away. His jaw tightened, and the veins in his temples shifted.
"Come on, kids, let’s go," I told them, taking their hands and moving past Kash and Lara.
I did it quickly, before Kash could call out and stop me. He looked so upset that I did not want another confrontation with him.
Once I was out of the mansion, I let out the breath I had been holding, and we moved toward the guest house. I put on a smile, ready to meet my dad. But before we reached it, something caught my attention.
Someone was in the distance, rushing toward the road.
"Um, kids, go inside, okay? Greet Grandpa for me. Tell him I’ll be there in a minute," I told them, patting their backs.
I did not know why, but I decided to follow the man. It was not as if he was out for a morning jog. He was not even dressed for it, not in jogging clothes or a tracksuit.
"What is Luca doing?" I whispered under my breath as I watched him glance both ways before stepping into the woods.
Why would he be going in there?
Then it hit me. Was he planning to shift? It would be a disaster if anyone saw him in his lycan form. I started to run after him, but as expected, another interruption came from behind me.
"Tell your father he’s invited over for lunch," Kash shouted.
I turned and saw him standing beside his car, opening the door for Lara. She stepped inside, and she shot me a sour look before Kash slammed the door shut.
He remained by her door with his back to her, staring at me with his hands on his waist.
"Whatever," I replied.
I wanted to keep going after Luca, but Kash was still watching me. Defeated, I gave up and turned toward the door, heading into the guest house.
Once I was inside the guest house, I found the living room empty, but I could hear my father and my children talking in the kitchen.
He was probably making them breakfast while they annoyed him. I was about to go help when I heard James on the phone. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
He was in the room that used to belong to my kids, but now it was his. I did not mean to listen, but I was passing by when something he said made me stop.
"Come back. We are not done yet," James said firmly. "You have to tell them the whole truth. I will be nothing but nice and kind, but you must tell her everything."
He was speaking to someone.
Part of me wanted to believe it was Luca, but then why would he be hiding something from me? What truth was he talking about?
"I don’t care," James continued. "And are you still in contact with them? I hope you’re not spying on Iris or giving them information, because trust me, I’ll cut all ties with you if you are."
As he kept talking, my skin broke out in goosebumps.
"Mom, what are you doing here?" Amy’s voice made me jump, and I turned to look at her before looking back at James.
He stared at me with a look that made it clear he had not expected me to overhear his conversation.
