Alpha's Hidden Precious Luna-Chapter 30
Lily POV
The afternoon went by quickly, but I couldn’t shake the strange feeling that had settled in my stomach since the incident in the café.
After my last class, I decided to freshen up in the ladies’ restroom before heading out. As I washed my hands, I noticed the same girl from class who had warned me earlier about Kevin standing by the mirrors.
I decided to approach her. “Hey,” I greeted, trying to sound casual. “My name is Lily and I’ve been thinking about what you said earlier about Kevin – Alpha Kai’s cousin. What did you mean when you said he was dangerous?”
The girl didn’t respond immediately. She glanced around – some girls were also in the restroom with us, chatting and fixing their makeup. Her expression was cautious and she was giving off a paranoid aura. She paused beside me, leaning in just close enough to murmur:
“You want him to knock you up?”
I froze, my eyes widening as the girl walked out of the restroom without another word. By this time, the other girls had gone out, so it was just me and her. The door swung shut behind her, leaving me alone as the cryptic warning echoed in my mind.
Knock me up? What had I gotten myself into? I tried to shake off the unease but it lingered.
As I wrapped up for the day, I gathered my things and headed outside where I found Celeste waiting for me. Since Celeste was a few years older than me, she was already in the last year of college – in fact almost due to graduate, so she didn’t need to attend lectures all the time unlike me.
“Hey, Lily,” she greeted me with a warm smile. “How was your first day?”
“It was ... eventful,” I replied, my thoughts still on the conversation I had in the restroom a few hours ago.
Celeste nodded as if she understood without needing an explanation. “Well, I’m glad I caught you. Just a reminder, you need to report to the Alpha every few days. It’s important to keep him updated on how you’re settling in,”.
I gasped.
I had almost forgotten about that. The thought of meeting Kai again made my heart race from nervousness and excitement. I didn’t want to admit it but the idea of seeing him again – of being in his presence – was something I’d been secretly looking forward to, even though I was still afraid of him.
Together, I and Celeste started walking, making small conversation as we walked alongside each other, I noticed a familiar figure walking in front of us. It was Briella, the girl who Kevin had introduced me to at the student café today who had also mentioned she was living with Kai. I watched as she stopped at the entrance of the main gate, her eyes scanning the crowd as if she were waiting for someone.
I turned to Celeste and asked. “Are we driving to the Alpha’s office?”
Celeste shook her head and pointed towards the parking lot. “No need. Someone’s here to pick you up,”.
I followed Celeste’s gaze and the direction in which she pointing and I felt my breath catch in my throat. A sleek back car had just pulled up and Kai was stepping out. As soon as he appeared, heads turned. I could see students – especially the females pointing at him excitedly. I couldn’t blame them... he made my heart race too. His presence was magnetic, commanding attention without even trying.
Briella’s eyes lit up when she saw him and she immediately started walking toward him. My heart sank as I thought that he was here for her. But Kai didn’t even glance her way as he walked past her. His eyes were fixed on me. Suddenly, he stopped and with a simple gesture, he beckoned me to join him.
I turned to Celeste, who nodded giving me a thumbs up and back to Kai who was waiting patiently, his gaze still fixed on me. My heart pounded in my chest as I took a tentative step forward. Emily froze, confusion and anger flashing across her face, when she realized Kai wasn’t there for her. She was glaring at me.
I hesitated, glancing back at Celeste, who gave me an encouraging nod. Taking a deep breath, I forced myself to walk towards Kai under the intensity of his gaze.
When I reached him, a smile tugged at the corners of his lips as his eyes scanned my face.
“You look exhausted and this is just your first day,”. He teased. “Was it that bad? How many times did you get lost?”
“I didn’t get lost,” I felt myself relaxing a bit “It was okay, A bit overwhelming but okay,”.
“That’s normal,” Kai said with a reassuring tone. “It gets easier, I promise. Have you had anything to eat? What do you want to eat?”
I shifted uncomfortably vaguely aware that there were lots of people staring at us curiously. I could see Briella looking at me like she wanted to strangle me.
“I’m not hungry, Alpha,” I said quietly, hoping he would end the conversation as quickly as possible.
He sighed “You should eat more, Lily... I want to see you healthy. You’re all skin and bone and you know; you don’t have to be nervous around me. I don’t bite,”.
I raised my eyes to meet his, surprised that he could read my emotions. “I’m not nervous, I’m just not used to a lot of things,” I lied.
He chuckled warmly the sound warming my soul as a smirk playing on his lips. “You’re a terrible liar, Lily. I know you’re scared of me... you’re such an open book that I can read through. Anyways, let’s go,”.
He reached for the passenger door and opened it, a silent invitation. My cheeks burned red as I stared at everyone still staring. What will people say when they learn that their Alpha was playing chauffeur for me?
“No, Alpha, I can open the door myself. You don’t have to do it for me,” I insisted but he shook his head.
“Don’t make me carry you inside, Lily. Get in!”.
Without saying a word, feeling guilt gnaw in my heart, I climbed in.
