After Rebirth, I Accept The Arranged Marriage-Chapter 111: Top-Quality
Jessie took the initiative to make the introductions. "Yvonne, Bella, what are you two doing out here? I was just about to come find you. By the way, this is my husband, Victor Morgan."
Jessie said, gesturing toward the stern, unsmiling man beside her.
Victor Morgan was usually expressionless around strangers. But now that Jessie was introducing him to her friends, the faintest of smiles touched his lips. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"Hello," Victor Morgan said.
Bella stood stunned to the side, her ears turning a little red. A moment ago, she’d thought the man was some incredibly hot guy Jessie had picked up at the bar. ’Who would have guessed he’s her actual husband!’
For a moment, Bella felt a pang of guilt.
’I mistook her husband for a fling!’ She could only apologize profusely to Victor Morgan in her head.
"H-hello, I’m Bella."
Yvonne Rhodes, however, didn’t have as much internal drama as Bella. She simply nodded in greeting. "Hello."
"Are you heading back now?" Bella asked, looking at Jessie.
Jessie nodded and was about to speak when Xavier Warren, who had been in the back, suddenly walked over. Upon seeing Jessie, he greeted her first. "Jessie!" Then, without waiting for her to react, he turned to Victor Morgan and said, "That son of a bitch is being taken to the police station. Is Jessie okay? Does she need to go, too? If not, I can tell them the security footage from my bar is sufficient."
This time, Victor Morgan didn’t look at Jessie, instead making the decision for her. "I’m taking her home first."
Xavier Warren replied, "Alright, then."
With that said, he bustled away again.
He was afraid that if he lingered any longer and got in the way, Victor Morgan might actually take it out on his establishment.
He had seen the state Shawn Stuart was in, and Xavier couldn’t even remember the last time he’d seen Victor Morgan lay a hand on someone. Sure, everyone was young and hot-headed once. But for people like them, losing control was something you left behind in your angsty teenage years. For Victor to actually get physical now... it didn’t take a genius to figure out how enraged he was.
Xavier Warren may have left, but the impact of his words lingered in the air.
Bella gasped. "Jessie, were you in some kind of danger just now?"
Yvonne Rhodes didn’t say anything, but her eyes were filled with unconcealable worry.
Jessie hummed affirmatively. "It wasn’t really dangerous." She didn’t let on how upset she was, unlike when she was with Victor. "Shawn Stuart followed me here. He said the instructors at Manhui told him he couldn’t attend the annual gala, and he blames me for it, so he came to cause trouble. But it’s okay, my husband’s here now, right? I’m fine."
As she finished, Jessie gave her two new friends a reassuring smile.
Bella: "..."
Yvonne Rhodes: "..."
That didn’t sound like "fine" at all! The police had even been called.
But since Jessie clearly didn’t want to discuss Shawn Stuart any further, the two of them could only suppress their curiosity and concern and didn’t press the issue.
"Are you all heading back now?" Jessie asked. "I can give you a ride back to the hotel. It’s on the way."
Bella felt a bit bad. They had all come out to have fun with Jessie, but they hadn’t even noticed that Shawn Stuart had been following and harassing her.
But Jessie clearly didn’t hold it against them; it wasn’t their fault anyway. "Why don’t we all leave together? We drove, and isn’t Mochi’s stomach still upset? Taking the subway wouldn’t be very comfortable for her."
Jessie’s words reminded Bella and Yvonne Rhodes of their friend’s condition, so they both nodded.
Mochi had only eaten too much ice cream; she wasn’t drunk.
So when Bella called her out of the private room and she saw the man standing next to Jessie, she couldn’t help but let out a burp.
’Who could have imagined that a joke from earlier today would actually come true tonight?’
She glanced once in Victor Morgan’s direction before quickly looking away.
’He and Jessie looked like a perfect match. None of the wild ideas I’d been imagining made any sense.’
Mochi felt sheepish.
Jessie, however, kept asking with concern if her stomach was okay, offering to take a detour to the hospital if needed.
Mochi waved her hands frantically. "No, no, it’s fine! I’m much better now."
Seeing how insistent she was, Jessie finally let it go.
As the group headed downstairs, Mochi suddenly pointed at a British racing green Valhalla not far ahead and screamed, "AHHH! We saw this car this morning, too! It’s so cool, so sleek, so gorgeous!"
Even if she didn’t know anything about cars, the Valhalla’s looks were undeniably stunning. It was just too cool.
Bella nodded frantically. "And that color is gorgeous!"
Just as the two of them were getting worked up, the doors of the Aston Martin supercar swung slowly upward.
Mochi and Bella, who had been squealing with excitement: "..."
In unison, they both whipped their heads around to look at Jessie.
"Holy shit!"
The next second, they both couldn’t help but curse out loud.
’This was so fucking unexpected!’
Jessie was also a little surprised that Victor had actually driven the car she’d picked out that morning. The man beside her clearly didn’t seem like the type to like such a flashy sports car.
"Do you guys have your driver’s licenses?" Jessie asked. "If you do, why don’t you drive this back tonight?"
For a moment, it was as if Mochi and Bella had been choked speechless. Then, they both started waving their hands frantically.
"Forget it, forget it! I wouldn’t dare."
"Hahaha, I don’t even have a license."
In the end, the two of them, along with Yvonne Rhodes, rode in the two security cars following behind.
As soon as they got in the car, Mochi couldn’t help but remark, "Jessie must have some kind of OCD."
Bella nodded. "Exactly. Whatever brand of car she drives, the escort cars are the same brand. It’s really..."
At this, she and Mochi looked at each other and said in unison, "So rich it’s obscene!"
After saying it, they both burst out laughing.
Sitting beside them, Yvonne Rhodes also seemed to find it amusing and couldn’t help but let the corners of her lips curve into a smile.
Only after dropping everyone off at the hotel did Jessie and Victor Morgan return to their courtyard home.
Victor had just led Jessie out of the garage when his phone rang. It was Xavier Warren.
Xavier updated him on the situation at the police station, then added, "I’m so sorry about what happened today. Pick a time, another day, and I’ll treat you both to make it up to Jessie."
Victor was about to say it wasn’t necessary, but then he saw Jessie looking up at him. The words died on his lips. Instead, he turned to her and asked, "Xavier Warren wants to treat you to a meal to apologize. Do you want to go?"
