After my divorce, I started to have good luck-Chapter 869 - 466: Saving a Life
The black Audi was half-suspended on the steep mountain road, with the driver's side window already shattered.
Chen Feng checked the back of the car; there was no tow hook. He asked the bald driver, and neither car had a tow rope, nor did Chen Feng's car.
Therefore, using a tow rope to pull the suspended Audi back up was not possible.
The bald driver had a head injury that was still bleeding, and his left leg seemed to be fractured. He couldn't move or crawl out on his own, and his wife in the front passenger seat was unconscious.
However, fortunately, the suspended Audi was caught by the iron guardrail, and it wouldn't fall off the slope temporarily.
Moreover, Chen Feng made the driver roughly check his pregnant wife. She wasn't bleeding, her breathing was stable, and there were no signs of miscarriage, so she was temporarily safe.
The problem now was how to rescue them.
"I'll call 110 right away, let the police come to rescue," Zhao Xiaolan suggested.
The bald driver heard this and responded loudly, "I've already called 110 and 120, but we're in the mountains, it's too remote. I don't know when they will arrive. I'm worried about my wife and the baby in her womb. I'm also worried about the car suddenly falling."
He did seem to have a bit of a jinx; as soon as he said this, the Audi suddenly shook as if it was about to drop.
Zhao Xiaolan was so scared that she couldn't help but scream. The bald driver screamed in terror, "Help! Help! Save me!"
Chen Feng glanced around, immediately put down the safety hammer in his hand, and ran towards the mountain side. Not far away, there was a large stone, and without saying a word, he lifted it with both hands. It weighed at least two hundred pounds, which was slightly beyond Chen Feng's strength, but he managed to lift it.
The distance was also close, just about ten meters. Chen Feng carried the stone, quickly walked to the back of the Audi, and placed the stone on the car's tailgate, instantly stopping the car from sliding down slowly.
Seeing this, Zhao Xiaolan reacted and immediately started looking for stones, carrying several, the largest being dozens of pounds.
Because Chen Feng had to secure the stone he brought, he could only stand at the back of the Audi.
Once enough stones were in place, Chen Feng instructed the bald driver to unlock the car door, allowing his mother, Zhao Xiaolan, to open the back door and rescue the people inside.
Although the car seemed stable again, there was no way to guarantee it completely. So, they decided to rescue the people first.
Zhao Xiaolan opened the right side back door, and with the bald driver's assistance, pushed back and reclined the passenger seat. After a considerable effort, they carefully moved the bald driver's wife to the back seat and then dragged her out of the car.
Luckily, Zhao Xiaolan was used to doing housework and was strong, and the bald driver's wife was light. Otherwise, it would have been hard to move her.
Seeing his wife finally rescued, the bald driver was immensely grateful to Zhao Xiaolan and Chen Feng.
As for himself, he didn't dare to move too much. He was overweight and was at the point with the most stress on the car; any excessive movement might accelerate the car's slide.
Thus, Chen Feng had to wait with him for the police or ambulance to arrive.
After a few minutes, the bald driver and Chen Feng exchanged names, and the driver asked where Chen Feng was from.
Chen Feng didn't hide anything. While there's no need to leave a name when doing good deeds, if asked, Chen Feng saw no reason to withhold or lie.
The bald driver revealed his situation too. His name was Zheng Dawei, from Feiyun City, and he was in the seafood business.
This old bloke was quite talkative and optimistic. Even though he was injured, he still joked around.
After chatting for about ten minutes, the rescue team finally arrived, with a police car and officers. Seeing the situation, a veteran auxiliary police officer took a tow rope from the car trunk without saying a word.
He skillfully attached the tow rope, went to the Audi's rear, crawled underneath, secured the tow rope, and attached the other end to the towing hook on the police car.
Soon, the police car gently pulled the Audi back onto the road, and the bald driver Zheng Dawei was rescued out from the car.
Nine minutes later, the ambulance also arrived, and the couple was taken onto the ambulance.
Before boarding the ambulance, Zheng Dawei added Chen Feng on WeChat, but Chen Feng habitually blocked him from his Moments.
On the way home, Zhao Xiaolan was very happy. After all, she had personally saved someone, and it was a pregnant woman, a deed undoubtedly full of virtue.
"This time, we saved three lives in one go. Saving a life is better than building a seven-tier pagoda, saving three lives is like building a twenty-one-tier pagoda, that's a huge virtue," Zhao Xiaolan said happily.
"It was also their good fortune that the couple encountered us," Chen Feng commented.
"Indeed. We were just right behind them leaving Fushan Temple. We waited so long, and since leaving Fushan, only two cars passed by. If we hadn't come today or left Fushan later, they might not have held on."
It was true that the couple Zheng Dawei and his wife were lucky. First, their car didn't fall immediately after breaking through the guardrail. Second, they encountered Chen Feng before the car fell, who helped them.
Otherwise, they surely wouldn't have had time to wait for the police and ambulance to rescue them.
"All thanks to the Buddha's blessing, without which, their luck wouldn't have been so good," Zhao Xiaolan remarked with emotion.
Chen Feng shrugged disagreeingly, "If the Buddha truly blessed them, they wouldn't have had an accident in the first place. After all, they just donated fifty thousand yuan of incense money to the temple."
"How do you know they donated fifty thousand?"
"I chatted with the bald guy at the temple entrance earlier."
"I see. I suppose the couple was merely destined to face a calamity. Fortunately, the Buddha protected them, allowing them to escape without harm."
Chen Feng smiled but didn't argue further.
For someone of his mother's age, having faith was better than having none. Faith provided a spiritual shelter, instilled awe, and prevented getting caught in trivial issues, encouraging good deeds.
After returning home by car, Chen Feng planned to head back to Xiu Zhou after lunch.
Though somewhat reluctant, Zhao Xiaolan didn't insist, as she knew her son had a business partnership in Xiu Zhou, and Wu Mengting, the daughter-in-law she fancied, had also returned to Xiu Zhou. Her son reuniting with Wu Mengting was for the best.
Because Chen Feng was leaving in the afternoon, Zhao Xiaolan specifically went to the market to buy plenty of his favorite dishes, intending to prepare a hearty farewell lunch.
Around ten o'clock, Chen Feng received a call from Guo Mengyao, asking him to visit her home as her mother wanted to see him.
