After Breaking Up, I Married the General-Chapter 177 - 176: Leaving the mountain range
As soon as Ryzel boarded Storm, he immediately greeted him.
"[Good morning to you, too!] Storm greeted back and added, [The two of you woke up late again.]"
Both of them had been very busy, so they hadn’t talked much with Storm, especially Ryzel, who was completely focused on his research.
However, Storm still knew the general time that they were waking up because it was also connected to Layton’s light brain.
Storm was currently their most advanced AI that is still working while they’re not connected to the Federation’s main brain, and it had even connected itself to other things so that it could monitor them, just like the cameras that Layton had scattered before.
So, Storm certainly knew the time they were waking up every day and when they started moving.
But Ryzel just smiled when he heard Storm’s comment because, in fact, they had already woken up very early.
In the past few days, even though they were very busy, Layton would still sometimes insist on having their morning session before working.
Compared to the past weeks when they hadn’t been as busy, the time they woke up to board Storm was actually quite early.
"It’s already very early. Let’s head east and turn on your cloaking function as I mentioned before," Layton said while both of them were sitting down.
"[Ok,]" Storm said, and already started moving eastward as Layton directed.
Layton had already told him that they would be heading eastward because the river from the mountains was flowing east.
Those that needed water would surely live a bit closer to it, or even if they were a bit far, they wouldn’t go too far from it.
Most of the races that the Federation knew were still races that needed water for survival.
So, Layton had said that they should just follow the river to check if there are ’people’ near it.
Storm also activated his cloaking function so that they wouldn’t be discovered.
In fact, they had waited for Storm to be fully repaired before traveling and checking things out beyond the mountain range specifically for Storm’s cloaking function.
Even though they had already learned that there were other ’people’ on the planet, they still didn’t go out of the mountain range to investigate because they didn’t want to be spotted.
With Storm’s cloaking function, they could blend with the scenery around them without any problems, as they wouldn’t be visible while Storm was blending with his surroundings.
They also wanted to investigate carefully, so even though Storm could actually travel very fast, they maintained their speed to be only as fast as the speed of their fastest hovercar.
But even though it was only at the speed of their fastest hovercar, it was still fast enough to cover a lot of distance.
In just 10 minutes, Ryzel couldn’t see the mountain range where they had stayed for weeks.
The plains they were in were really wide; even though they had already traveled for several minutes, all he could see were still the plains.
While passing by, Ryzel had already seen a lot of plants that were unique to the plains they were in.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t just stop and get some of them, so he only watched them while they followed the river.
Of course, aside from the different plants he saw, he also spotted different animals, but he only saw a few of them.
They continued traveling while Storm continued recording the scenes they were traveling through.
Since they were staying 50 meters above ground, they could check a wide area of their surroundings while making sure they didn’t miss anything, even if it wasn’t detected by the different indicators that Storm had prepared to analyze the presence of living beings.
Storm was equipped with complete equipment that could detect living things from as far as 5 kilometers away, as they were also using it to detect the Zergs.
The area could even be expanded further if they had the help of the different machines that were scattered by the military in the areas where they frequently fought Zergs.
But because they didn’t have those things to assist Storm, Storm could only detect 5 kilometers away from them.
However, just the 5 kilometers that Storm has is already very useful to them, as they’re only surveying a planet and not outer space, which would need a wider area of coverage to detect things.
But even though a lot of indicators were used, sometimes it still couldn’t detect things thoroughly, so they still decided to slow down a bit so they could properly check their surroundings.
After 10 minutes, they could finally see something aside from the plains around them. In the distance, they could finally see the silhouette of another mountain range and a large body of water. After just a minute, Storm also reported something.
"[Masters, there are a few ’people’ 4 kilometers ahead.]"
"Good, let’s go and check them out. Make sure that our cloaking function is working properly. Let’s go near them to get some information.
Hopefully, they can speak the universal language; if not, then we’ll have to rely on the translator that we brought."
If the ’people’ they met didn’t speak the universal language, they could only let Storm translate so they could understand them.
The translator that the Federation has can only work if the other person is also wearing a translator so that his or her speech can easily be translated.
Unfortunately, they still wanted to hide their presence, so they couldn’t give them translators.
So, they could only rely on the translation of Storm. Of course, they could also record and translate them using their light brains, but it would still take time because they weren’t connected to the main brain of the Federation.
If they were the ones to translate, it would just be a waste of time, so they would just leave it to Storm if they really needed to listen to ’people’ who weren’t using the universal language.
