After Betrayal: Lightning Marriage to Mr. Enigmatic-Chapter 764: Get Away from Me
It was supposed to be an introduction, but Isabella Weaver felt that it was more about showing off.
"Old Master Hunter, it’s been a long time! You still look as stylish as ever! Judging by your health, you could live another five hundred years!" 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"No, no, if I live that long, wouldn’t I become an old demon? But with a filial grandson and granddaughter-in-law, maybe I could live another fifty years!"
"Indeed, your grandson is one in a million, and your granddaughter-in-law too! Look at her bearing, like your own granddaughter, refined and noble. Truly enviable! It would be great if my son could find a wife like her!"
Ben Hunter wore a smile, glancing at the graceful and beautiful Isabella Weaver by his side, feeling satisfied and content: "You won’t find another like her; we took her away! My granddaughter-in-law is the best in the world, the one and only!"
Isabella Weaver sighed inwardly; the old man spoke with such arrogance. She finally understood why Harry Hunter was always so arrogantly aloof—it’s hereditary!
But she couldn’t undermine the old man’s stage. She just stayed quietly by his side, gently holding his arm. When someone looked over, she would smile gracefully and appropriately. Or she would call out "Uncle Thompson" or "Uncle Lee," as the old man wished, and receive a heap of compliments.
Most people were sensible, exchanging a few words to show their face to the old man before leaving, not lingering. But there were always those who were thick-skinned, oblivious to the cues.
"Grandpa, what brings you here? It’s crowded; be careful not to get bumped. Let me help you to the front to sit down."
Cherry Lewis was dressed in a white gown, her long hair draped over her shoulders, with a delicate makeup. Accompanied by an unknown family’s young lady, they approached Ben Hunter like sisters, smiling charmingly and familiarly, as if there were no feuds or barriers between the Hunter and Lewis families.
No one could have guessed that just a couple of days ago, she was covered in cactus thorns, like a porcupine.
She reached out to assist Ben Hunter, but he merely gave her a cold glance and didn’t let her help him, turning away and leaving.
Cherry Lewis’s hand froze mid-air, her face showed great embarrassment.
Isabella Weaver accompanied Ben Hunter a few steps ahead, then looked back at her, only to see her embarrassed expression had transformed into grievance and dejection, even her eyes turned red, making it seem like she had suffered a great injustice.
The girl beside her whispered words of comfort, trying to persuade her to sit down, but couldn’t convince her.
Cherry Lewis hurriedly caught up with them, directly holding onto Ben Hunter’s other arm: "Grandpa, why don’t you care for me anymore? Now that you have a granddaughter-in-law, have you forgotten about Cherry? You used to say you’d treat me like your own granddaughter!"
Ben Hunter was infuriated!
With his esteemed status, no one would normally dare cling to him so shamelessly. In usual instances, if he was unwilling, even the matriarch wouldn’t dare entangle him. Yet today, a youngster was holding onto his arm and refusing to let go!
Knowing he didn’t like her, yet she stubbornly sought him out, claiming to be a dear granddaughter, egging on the matriarch, causing chaos for the Hunter Family, while pretending to be the good person!
The old matriarch might be confused, but he certainly wasn’t!
But with so many people around, so many pairs of eyes watching, he couldn’t scold or hit her, he can only respond with disgust: "Get away from me, stop pretending in front of everyone. I have no respect for you now, lacking both morals and manners!"
Ben Hunter was well aware Cherry Lewis purposefully approached with many people around, trying to get closer to mislead others into thinking she still had a good relationship with the Hunter Family.
