Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Yes, all of you present are garbage!

Su Ke had originally thought Su Xiyang would, for the sake of their most basic familial bonds, choose to let the matter drop instead of trying to turn everyone against him.

However, Su Xiyang’s calm and indifferent demeanor infuriated him instantly.

Since when does Su Xiyang dare to be so insubordinate? Does she still have any respect for me as her grandfather?

"Su Xiyang, cough, cough..." Seething with rage, Su Ke couldn’t help but cough, his face flushing crimson. He was genuinely furious.

An elder of the Su Family stepped in to act as a peacemaker. "Xi Yan, stop making a scene. Look at how upset you’ve made the Old Master."

"You should stop being so unreasonable as well. Let’s just let this matter rest."

"Besides, I’ll give you my word. As long as you withdraw the report promptly, I guarantee the Old Master won’t hold this against you. You can rest easy."

What considerate and understanding advice. So, everyone thinks it’s my fault?

"What fault is there to find in me? From start to finish, I have been nothing but a deceived victim. Tell me, what did I do wrong?" Su Xiyang raised her head, staring silently at Su Ke.

Su Ke pursed his lips, not knowing how to refute her.

In truth, everyone knew that the day’s turmoil was entirely Su Ziye’s fault. Had Su Xiyang fallen into the trap, she would have faced a lifelong nightmare.

"Grandfather, where did I go wrong?"

"Can you enlighten me?" Su Xiyang asked again, but Su Ke remained silent, completely speechless.

"Su Xiyang, are you done yet? Nothing actually happened, did it? Is there any need to nitpick and whine about it?" Su Ziye couldn’t take it anymore and began yelling at Su Xiyang.

After learning that this sister of hers wanted to make her life a living hell, Su Xiyang had already realized there was no need to speak of familial affection with Su Ziye.

"With an attitude like that, I will personally make sure you go to jail!"

"Whether it’s nitpicking or not, you know better than I do. You committed a crime, not played a children’s game!" Su Xiyang declared righteously, her tone leaving no room for argument.

Her words made Su Ziye’s fingers clench, a flicker of panic flashing deep in her eyes. Helpless, she could only turn to Su Ke for help again. In Su Ziye’s mind, the only person in the world who could intimidate Su Xiyang with a single word, or even a single glance, was her own grandfather.

"Su Xiyang!" Chen Wen, with her characteristically fiery temper, saw her own daughter losing ground to Su Xiyang and jumped in, ready to lecture her personally. "You can’t be so heartless and ungrateful! After all, the Su Family poured their heart and soul into raising you. We are family, you can’t do this!"

Su Xiyang sneered. "You say that with such high-minded righteousness, but did your daughter ever treat me like family?"

A flash of anger crossed Chen Wen’s eyes. If it weren’t for the presence of Shen Fanyun, an outsider, she really would have rushed forward and given Su Xiyang a couple of hard slaps.

What an ungrateful wretch! To be so obtuse as to challenge a noblewoman like me.

Shen Fanyun? A thought flashed through Su Ke’s mind. The drastic change in Su Xiyang’s personality lately, her repeated disobedience and willfulness—it was all thanks to Shen Fanyun! To put it bluntly, Shen Fanyun was the one who had given Su Xiyang her confidence.

The one who tied the bell must be the one to untie it. I have to find a breakthrough with Shen Fanyun.

"Young man, I hope you can persuade Xi Yan!" Su Ke said, taking the initiative to speak to Shen Fanyun despite his better judgment. He despised the man deep down, but he had no other choice. "You encourage Xi Yan to oppose my Su Family, even to the point of becoming our enemy. What good will come of that for you? It’s a completely thankless task!"

"As the saying goes, more friends mean more paths. Wouldn’t it be better for us to let bygones be bygones and become friends? If you ever need the Su Family’s help in the future, I, Su Ke, can lend a hand!" Su Ke reasoned with him calmly and rationally, hoping Shen Fanyun would consider it seriously.

But Shen Fanyun just shrugged, feigning ignorance. "Oh? What does this have to do with me? How could I have possibly instigated this? Your Su Family isn’t a clan of imperial kinsmen and nobles, so why would I go out of my way to antagonize you? You’re just a declining family. I really have no interest in sowing discord."

"Old Master Su, you think too highly of yourself!" Su Ke was left speechless.

Shen Fanyun’s response left him fuming, glaring so hard he nearly coughed up blood. Not only had their negotiation failed, but Shen Fanyun had also seized the opportunity to mock him. Su Ke deeply regretted ever engaging with the man. Wasn’t he just asking for trouble?

"That’s right. In case it wasn’t clear, I’m calling your Su Family a bunch of useless good-for-nothings, a pile of trash," Shen Fanyun said with a smirk that didn’t reach his eyes, his arms crossed, leaving Su Ke speechless yet again.

The Su Family was clearly in the wrong today, and Su Ziye had truly gone too far. Their top priority had to be de-escalating the situation. If not for these circumstances, Su Ke would have mobilized the entire clan to fight Shen Fanyun to the bitter end.

That bastard is infuriating. Where on earth did Su Xiyang meet such a freak!

"Xi Yan, I still hope you’ll think this over carefully. Don’t disappoint your grandfather and all of us elders!" With no other options, Su Ke tried to negotiate with Su Xiyang again.

Li Bin and the other burly men knelt obediently on the ground, not daring to move a muscle.

Su Ziye, however, was the calmest one there. For one, she believed that with Su Ke present, he would handle everything, even if the sky itself were to fall. Secondly, she had never really taken Su Xiyang seriously. Even after Su Xiyang had explicitly stated she would send her to jail, Su Ziye only felt a brief flicker of panic, but her composure remained largely unshaken. Ultimately, she still believed Su Xiyang lacked the guts and audacity to follow through.

"There’s no need. I’ve already thought it through," Su Xiyang replied, refusing to discuss it further.

About twenty minutes passed. An official from the relevant authorities arrived on the scene with several subordinates. The official’s name was Chen Lie, and accompanying them was Chen Feng, Su Ziye’s boyfriend.

At first, Shen Fanyun didn’t think much of Chen Feng’s appearance. However, the subsequent reaction and handling of the situation by the authorities made him realize something was amiss.

"Ziye, are you alright?" Chen Feng asked, his face full of concern.

Su Ziye shook her head with a smile. "What could possibly be wrong with me?"

"That’s good," Chen Feng said, finally relieved.

Chen Lie, the official, surveyed the scene before his voice boomed, "Who reported this?"

Su Xiyang raised her hand. "I did."

Chen Lie strode over to her, motioning for a subordinate to take out a notepad in a practiced manner. "Please state the facts of what happened, from beginning to end. Do not include any fabrications, or you will bear the consequences!" he warned.

Meanwhile, Chen Feng was whispering into Su Ziye’s ear. Her eyes lit up, and the anxiety gripping her heart instantly vanished.
