After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 81: What Do I Need to Explain to You?
Chen Lie stood with his hands clasped behind his back, his posture ramrod straight. He exuded an oppressive, domineering aura that was difficult to describe in words. He was unsmiling and extremely stern.
Su Xiyang didn’t overthink it and recounted the entire incident to Chen Lie in full detail. Mid-explanation, she unthinkingly handed him the video evidence Shen Fanyun had recorded earlier.
"Alright. I have the gist of it now," Chen Lie nodded, his expression as serious and composed as ever. He then tucked the video evidence into his pocket and turned to remind his subordinate, "Omit the part about the evidence being submitted."
Su Xiyang was no fool. Chen Lie’s action immediately aroused her suspicion. "Why," she asked, "are you ignoring the evidence?"
"Hmph?" Chen Lie, displeased, frowned and scrutinized Su Xiyang. "Are you questioning my professionalism? Judging by your tone, it sounds like you need me to explain myself to you?"
Su Xiyang was instantly at a loss for words. Su Ziye, standing not far away, took delight in her misfortune, even provocatively making faces at her. Beside Ziye, Chen Feng crossed his arms with a similarly malicious smile.
After Su Xiyang finished her account, Chen Lie surveyed the scene and kicked Li Bin, who was lying on the ground. "This has nothing to do with you anymore. Scram!"
Overwhelmed by the unexpected favor, Li Bin scrambled to his feet without a word and made to flee.
"Aren’t you going to arrest them?" Su Xiyang asked, unable to comprehend Chen Lie’s actions.
At that moment, Shen Fanyun spoke up. "It’s fine if he doesn’t get involved. I’ll have someone with more authority handle it." He added, "Let them go. The same way they walk out of here is how they’ll walk into a cell. Not a single one will get away."
Su Xiyang finally understood the shady business afoot. Looking again at his work ID... surname Chen... could he be related to Chen Feng? After all, Chen Feng and Chen Lie had greeted each other, which would explain why this unfamiliar official had been so displeased with her from the start.
"Oh?" Chen Lie turned, a cold smirk playing on his lips. "And who might you be? When I’m handling business, is it your place to interrupt?"
Before Shen Fanyun could reply, Chen Lie waved his hand dismissively. "I understand the situation. We’ll handle the rest later. Old Master Su, Miss Ziye, you are free to leave."
Hearing this conclusion, Su Ziye couldn’t help but gloat again. "Su Xiyang, oh Su Xiyang, just look at yourself. Aren’t you a complete buffoon? You should have thought about the connections I, Su Ziye, have! Did you really think someone like you could bring me down? Hahaha, you’ve become a laughingstock. I pity you. Also, from now on, I hope you’ll have the sense to get out of the Su Family. Our family doesn’t welcome you!"
Ziye snuggled cheerfully against Su Ke. Old Master Su didn’t look at Su Xiyang kindly either. Disliking the contentious situation, he exchanged a few pleasantries with Chen Lie, preparing to leave with Ziye, Chen Wen, and their other relatives.
Shen Fanyun stood silently at the warehouse exit.
Chen Lie’s face immediately darkened. "Move aside," he commanded sternly.
Unmoved, Shen Fanyun calmly took out his phone, gave some instructions to his subordinate Zhan Feng, and then raised an eyebrow at Chen Lie. "Wait for the call."
Hmm? Chen Lie was confused. Wait for whose call? Who’s supposed to wait for this call? He turned to look at Chen Feng and Su Ke.
Chen Feng had to step forward and patiently explain to Chen Lie, "This guy has some pull. He’s probably calling in his own connections."
Five minutes passed, and Su Ziye, Su Ke, and Chen Feng all started getting antsy. Just as Chen Lie was about to blow his top, his phone rang. He glanced at the screen and was shocked to see it was his direct superior calling.
"What the fuck are you doing on this mission? Who the hell did you piss off? Shit! The Secretary-General from the municipal government personally called to chew me out, specifically saying you, Chen Lie, were abusing your authority for personal reasons. Did you or didn’t you? Fuck your mother! You’re relieved of duty the moment you get back, damn it. After I’m done here, I’m going to deal with you personally. Fuck, who do you think you are, some big shot leader who can just mess around? Do you have what it takes to face the consequences? Shit, you’re just some bottom-feeding trash acting high and mighty! Go take a piss and look at what a worthless piece of shit you really are!"
Chen Lie was speechless. The barrage of profanity made his face alternate between pale and flushed. It had happened so suddenly that long after the call ended, he still couldn’t process what had just happened.
He looked up in disbelief, his face cold and hard as he stared silently at Shen Fanyun.
"Did you understand?" Shen Fanyun asked.
Chen Lie remained silent.
"I don’t have time to waste on you. You have three minutes," Shen Fanyun reminded him. "By now, you should understand exactly who you’re supposed to be taking to your station."
Chen Lie sucked in a sharp breath through his teeth. He felt anger, annoyance, and utter unwillingness. However, his superior’s harsh tirade forced him to swallow his arrogance and follow the regulations to the letter.
"Uncle, what’s going on?" Chen Feng asked anxiously when he saw the look on Chen Lie’s face, his panicked question completely exposing their relationship.
"So they really are relatives!" Su Xiyang realized with a start.
"Kid, I admit you’ve got some tricks," Chen Lie sneered, his face ashen as he clearly struggled to restrain his rage. "But I, Chen Lie, will remember what happened today. Sooner or later, I’ll settle this score with you!"
Shen Fanyun laughed. "Still acting tough?"
"Since you’re so tough, just stick to your guns and let the suspect behind you walk."
Shen Fanyun shrugged. "But you don’t dare... So what’s the point of your tough act? Are you all talk and no skill, just addicted to posturing?"
Chen Lie was speechless. Shen Fanyun’s remark nearly made him cough up blood. He and Su Ke were kindred spirits in misery.
"Come on, let’s go," Shen Fanyun urged Su Xiyang.
Su Xiyang hesitated. "Are we just leaving like this?"
"Don’t worry. Your dear sister won’t escape a decade in prison," Shen Fanyun assured her, draping an arm over her shoulder. He didn’t even need to stay and watch. If Chen Lie had any sense, he knew exactly what he had to do.
Hearing this, Su Ziye’s eyes went wide. She panicked completely when she saw Chen Lie’s face turn frosty as he moved to restrain her.
"Grandpa."
"Grandpa, what’s happening? Wasn’t everything fine? Weren’t we going home? Ah! Don’t touch me! Get away from me!" Su Ziye frantically shook Su Ke’s wrist, trying to get her grandfather to intervene.
Su Ke was equally stunned. He opened his mouth but couldn’t force out a single word.
"Old Master Su, you need to work your connections now!" Chen Feng urged him. "See if anyone can help. Any later, and it’ll be too late!"
Su Ziye was speechless.
