After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 235: I Think You Are a Shady Person!
Yu Zheng was stunned. He had made a thousand calculations, but he had never expected Shen Fanyun to pull out something like this.
As for the fierce-looking thugs and lackeys behind him, this was the one thing they feared most. They looked at one another, a clear hint of fear and nervousness in their eyes.
Have we bitten off more than we can chew?
"B-Boss, what do we do?" the bald man asked Yu Zheng, trembling. He was completely flustered and dared not make a move.
Yu Zheng’s expression turned ugly as he stood there, stunned. For a moment, he had no idea how to handle the situation. If Shen Fanyun had a complicated background and was connected to the authorities, Yu Zheng wasn’t confident he could smooth over the mess that would ensue. Although he was usually arrogant, acting recklessly and as if he were above the law, he wasn’t a complete idiot.
Shen Fanyun had already brandished his ’weapon’. As long as Yu Zheng wasn’t a moron, he should realize a direct confrontation wouldn’t work out in his favor.
When Shen Fanyun suddenly stood up, Yu Zheng jumped in fright, and his equally terrified lackeys shuffled backward.
"I told you to make your move. Why are you just standing there dumbfounded?" Shen Fanyun asked, taking a step forward to stand right beside Yu Zheng.
Yu Zheng was visibly intimidated and no longer dared to confront Shen Fanyun. At that moment, he had lost all courage, unable to even meet Shen Fanyun’s gaze.
"W-What do you think you’re doing? I’m telling you, we’re all civilized people here! We should handle things in a civilized way. What kind of hero resorts to violence?" Yu Zheng snarled, trying to argue his way out of it.
Shen Fanyun was amused. "You summoned forty or fifty guys with a single phone call, and now you’re telling me we’re all civilized? Where, exactly, is your civility? Who taught you to lie so shamelessly?"
SLAP!
Shen Fanyun swung his hand and slapped Yu Zheng squarely across the face. Caught off guard, Yu Zheng staggered back, nearly falling. As he stumbled, every single one of his forty-odd followers retreated in terror, afraid they might inadvertently anger Shen Fanyun and become collateral damage.
"You... you..." Yu Zheng’s jaw ached, his mind blank. He hadn’t expected Shen Fanyun to actually hit him.
"Weren’t you acting all high and mighty just now, ready to take what you wanted by force? Why so timid all of a sudden?"
SLAP!
Shen Fanyun struck him again, once from each side, landing two more slaps that left Yu Zheng seeing stars. Excruciating pain shot through every pore in his body.
"You... you’re hitting me?" Yu Zheng stammered.
SLAP!
Shen Fanyun hit him again. "So what if I am?"
"Aren’t you famous in Hangcheng City? Doesn’t everyone give you a wide berth, too afraid to cross you?"
SLAP!
"Aren’t you some powerful figure, above all the rules?"
SLAP!
Yu Zheng lost count of how many times Shen Fanyun had slapped him. All he knew was that his face was beaten into an unrecognizable pulp as fresh blood trickled down his cheeks and onto his neck.
Yu Zheng tried to turn and leave, but Shen Fanyun yanked him back and served him another vicious slap. The large coffee shop was completely silent, save for the sickening thwack of Shen Fanyun’s hand hitting Yu Zheng’s face over and over again.
"S-Stop... stop hitting me," Yu Zheng pleaded. "I’m telling you, I, Yu Zheng, am not someone to be trifled with! If you push me too far, this won’t end well for either of us! I’m being patient and giving you a way out. If you don’t take it, I swear I won’t let this go!"
He’s got a tough mouth, doesn’t he? His face is practically ruined, yet he still has the guts to run it?
"Fine," Shen Fanyun said. "Let’s see what happens when I cross you."
With another slap, he sent Yu Zheng crashing to the floor. Then, he planted his foot on Yu Zheng’s face and ground it into the tiles.
Yu Zheng’s entire body trembled with pain. None of his lackeys dared to step forward. They were just street thugs, used to bullying the weak and fearing the strong. The moment they met someone truly formidable, they clammed up.
Besides, it was clear Shen Fanyun was not to be trifled with. A single slap from him had split Yu Zheng’s cheek open.
What kind of strength is that? A normal adult man couldn’t do that.
"You... you..." Yu Zheng wailed from the floor, gasping for breath as if he might die at any second.
"Weren’t you so full of yourself before? Calling your men, playing the groom, fantasizing about enjoying the mother-daughter pair? Are you scared now?" Shen Fanyun ground his foot down, causing Yu Zheng to spasm in agony.
Blood pooled on the floor, its coppery, pungent smell assaulting everyone’s senses.
"Honey? What are you doing here?" A voice filled with anger suddenly rang out. "And who the hell are you? How dare you hit my husband? Do you have a death wish?"
"Honey?" Yu Zheng suddenly perked up, as if he were a drowning man who had just grabbed onto a life-saving raft. His blood-caked eyes widened with hope.
"Honey, save me! Quick, save me!" Yu Zheng roared, struggling violently under Shen Fanyun’s foot as he tried to break free.
His wife? What a coincidence for her to show up at this exact moment. Does Yu Zheng really not realize what kind of depraved things he’s done? To actually hope his wife would help him at a time like this? Any normal woman who heard about her husband’s behavior would probably turn around and walk right out.
THUMP. THUMP. THUMP.
A woman with short hair appeared. She was dressed neatly, but her eyes were piercingly sharp.
"You dare touch my husband?" the woman shrieked, her icy gaze instantly locking onto Shen Fanyun.
Shen Fanyun said calmly, "Why don’t you ask your husband what, exactly, he was doing?"
"Exactly," Lin Jia chimed in, unable to hold back her indignation. "Ma’am, your husband, despite having a family, was not only trying to cheat on you, but when he was rejected, he brought all these thugs here to try and kidnap us."
Lin Jia expected the woman to explode with rage, disgusted by her husband’s vile actions. To her surprise, however, the woman—Chen Hua—shot Lin Jia a casual glance. Her tone was chilling as she said, "I think it’s more likely you were the one seducing my husband, weren’t you?"
"I can tell you’re trash just by looking at you. You slut, how dare you try to blame him?"
Lin Jia was speechless.
This Chen Hua is really something else, Shen Fanyun mused. Faced with a situation like this, instead of reining in her own husband, she attacks Lin Jia and calls her trash?
"Don’t you dare slander me!" The accusation left Lin Jia feeling utterly defeated, her dignity trampled. "Your husband was the one who came on to me! How can you say that?!" she retorted, furious.
